The MOSS design team sat down with the homeowners and went through every single option. With COVID and the distance from the job site to the MOSS office, most sessions were virtual and set to align with the clients’ work schedules. The homeowners felt all of their ideas were brought to life and the design team added interesting pieces and ideas they really liked. Early in the design process, they decided a focus wall would be amazing. The client loves shiplap but didn’t want anything that looked too country. Our designer and project manager worked together to create a fireplace wall that combined tile, shiplap and a custom mantel for a result that has become one of the most gorgeous parts of the remodel. With young, active kids, the clients needed a space that could serve as a dump zone for backpacks and sports gear. Combining an underutilized carport shed and a low-functioning pantry resulted in a beautiful, very useful mudroom. The homeowners expressed that one of the most exciting parts of the process was working with the designers and coming up with new ideas. For example, there was an odd area on one side of the kitchen and our designer suggested making it a double-door pantry. The client’s jaw dropped because she never envisioned having enough storage space to conceal all of her appliances and backstock. She said “It is one of those surprises that came through the design process that we were not expecting and is now one of our favorite parts of the kitchen. Introducing this backyard remodeling project expertly completed by @seamlessconstruction.inc 's team in the heart of #LosAngeles The project starts with artificial turf welcoming you into the backyard, as per the client’s request, to replace the old driveway’ falling asphalt. Additionally, a strip drain system was added to address the issue of flooding in the ADU caused by heavy rain. To ensure seamless transitions within the backyard, adjustments in elevation were made and a striking set of new stairs were added designed with some under lights. It was crafted using Belgard pavers and Bullnose in graphite color, seamlessly blending with the overall landscape. Next to the ADU, a charming patio was constructed using Mexican tiles and grey grout, elegantly complementing the other side's design. The artificial turf area was thoughtfully created to add recreational space for the homeowners. A raised concrete pad in this section, also featuring Mexican tiles, is planned for future conversion into a spa and cold plunge area, awaiting installation of the amenities. A highlight of the renovation is the captivating fire pit area, decorated with Mexican tiles, matching with the concrete elements. This inviting space is expected to be a favorite spot, especially during colder nights. Throughout the project, careful attention was given to ensure that all elements blended cohesively. When the family first reached out to Armada Design & Build, they were excited but apprehensive. They had just purchased a sprawling 2-acre lot in the peaceful enclave of Packwood, WA, envisioning their forever home. The lot, though rich with potential, was a blank canvas—a space once occupied by a dilapidated structure, now waiting to be transformed into a custom-built sanctuary. Turning this vacant lot into a warm, inviting home seemed daunting to them, but to us, it was an opportunity to create something truly special. As a one-stop design and build firm, we knew this project was about more than construction—it was about understanding their dreams and translating them into a home blending contemporary charm with rustic elegance. Our journey began with in-depth discussions to explore their lifestyle, preferences, and vision. They wanted a modern, comfortable, and functional home full of character. With these insights, we began sketching a design that would rise from the blank slate. The process started with site evaluations and architectural planning, considering the natural landscape, privacy needs, and creating a connection with the surroundings. In the master bathroom, we created a serene retreat with Green Needle Laminated panels, Kohler fixtures, and United Tile Fez by WOW tiles, transforming it into a luxurious sanctuary. Consistent Bravada Hardwood flooring throughout the home added cohesiveness, while thoughtful touches like NearMoon fixtures enhanced the spa-like ambiance. The exterior was equally well-planned. When we found out we were expecting in June, we had already put a plan in motion to merge our home offices to eventually make way for a nursery. After the excitement of the big news we kicked it into high gear! First off we painted the room a crisp white to contrast from the past 2 tone dark office colours. Our amazing painter Carolyn from Roll Her Sleeves then traced out and painted our vision for the mural. At first we wanted to go very minimal but after looking at it for a few weeks, we asked her to come back and add a forefront layer of grey mountains, details in the peaks and the yellow sun. During that time the search for the perfect modern crib was on. We found the Hudson model from Babyletto which we loved from one of our suppliers in the states but after duties and shipping it ended up being more practical to buy it here in town. At the Artemano opening we hosted in November, we connected with Jonathan from Obasan mattresses. He graciously offered to supply us with one of their locally made high quality mattresses. We can’t wait for our baby boy to sleep on it! Our rocking chair has quite the story behind it. We originally found it for $8 ( yes eight ) dollars last spring. We weren’t sure at the time where and how we were going to use it so we had stored it in one of the garages where we were keeping furniture for an ongoing model home project. One morning we arrived and noticed the chair was missing. We made a call to our construction contact and he relayed the message. Next thing we know a worker was jumping in the garbage bins across the street. They had believed the chair was to be thrown away. Although a bit dusty it was recovered in decent shape. A few months passed and we started entertaining the idea of using it as our rocker. We asked Melissa’s dad if he would be interested in converting it to a rocker for us, and always up for a challenge he accepted and came through big time! At least was the task of reupholstering. We kind of liked the fun bright orange it was but decided to keep it safe with a nice grey material. After trying numerous curtains ( we lost count ) we finally settled on a old fav, the west elm chevrons. As well, 3 or 4 rugs were attempted until we tried the yellow rug from Urban Barn and instantly knew that was the one. We slid a couple small Ikea hacks in there. We wrapped an inexpensive floor lamp with rope to give it a different look ( and hide the silver since everything is brass ) and spray painted the shelf hinges to match the rest of the finishes.
