Our clients wanted to build an outdoor living area complete with fire feature, dining area, and TV entertainment. This project was built to look original-to-the-home and provide a large seating area with plenty of shade for enjoyment. The covered patio shades the majority of the backyard patio area, leaving the fire feature area open to star gazing in the evening. Sparkling and shimmering, decorative glass is the perfect medium for this lovely fire feature! The polished capstone along the perimeter of the fire feature provides additional seating for those captivated by its beauty and warmth. Tongue and Groove ceiling is a beautiful enhancement to this patio cover. An outdoor TV is wired in the living area of this patio cover, bringing the entertainment outdoors! The flooring is a gray ceramic tile, the pool coping is natural puka pavers, The house a combination of traditional plantation style seen in the white board and batten walls, with a modern twist seen in the wood framed glass doors, thick square exposed tails and ebony stained square posts supporting the overhangs.

This deck was designed with cooking and entertaining in mind. The dual burner cooktop, 36" wide grill and storage provide plenty of cooking and staging space. The dining table niche, mobile island with seating and additional space allows enough table/chair space for seating 30+ people. By separating the beverage station from the cooking area, the deck encourages guests to circulate through the space (and reduced installation costs by tapping into the house main kitchen sink plumbing located on the other side of the exterior wall). The mobile island, with it's cantilevered countertop is perfectly stable despite the 225 pound countertop slab. This was achieved with a ballast inside the box combined with the industrial casters that allow the wheels to be pumped up off the deck, providing solid foot for the island.

The weekend home’s design grew around the 100-year-old Valley Oak to form a horseshoe-shaped house that gathers ridgeline views of Oak, Madrone, and Redwood groves at its exterior and nestles around the tree at its center. The home’s orientation offers both the shade of the oak canopy in the courtyard and the sun flowing into the great room at the house’s rear façades. This modern take on a traditional ranch home offers contemporary materials and landscaping to a classic typology. From the main entry in the courtyard, one enters the home’s great room and immediately experiences the dramatic westward views across the 70 foot pool at the house’s rear. In this expansive public area, programmatic needs flow and connect - from the kitchen, whose windows face the courtyard, to the dining room, whose doors slide seamlessly into walls to create an outdoor dining pavilion. The primary circulation axes flank the internal courtyard, anchoring the house to its site and heightening the sense of scale by extending views outward at each of the corridor’s ends. Guest suites, complete with private kitchen and living room, and the garage are housed in auxiliary wings connected to the main house by covered walkways. Building materials including pre-weathered corrugated steel cladding, buff limestone walls, and large aluminum apertures, and the interior palette of cedar-clad ceilings, oil-rubbed steel, and exposed concrete floors soften the modern aesthetics into a refined but rugged ranch home.

Our clients wanted to build an outdoor living area complete with fire feature, dining area, and TV entertainment. This project was built to look original-to-the-home and provide a large seating area with plenty of shade for enjoyment. The covered patio shades the majority of the backyard patio area, leaving the fire feature area open to star gazing in the evening. Sparkling and shimmering, decorative glass is the perfect medium for this lovely fire feature! The polished capstone along the perimeter of the fire feature provides additional seating for those captivated by its beauty and warmth. Tongue and Groove ceiling is a beautiful enhancement to this patio cover. An outdoor TV is wired in the living area of this patio cover, bringing the entertainment outdoors! A large farm-style dining table is perfectly placed in the middle of patio for an outdoor dining experience. Needless to say, the space underneath this patio cover is wonderfully utilized. Recessed lighting illuminates the patio in the evening while appealing column lanterns begin to light the backyard. Ceilings fan are an ideal addition to any outdoor space.
