Modern luxury meets warm farmhouse in this Southampton home! Scandinavian inspired furnishings and light fixtures create a clean and tailored look, while the natural materials found in accent walls, casegoods, the staircase, and home decor hone in on a homey feel. An open-concept interior that proves less can be more is how we’d explain this interior. By accentuating the “negative space,” we’ve allowed the carefully chosen furnishings and artwork to steal the show, while the crisp whites and abundance of natural light create a rejuvenated and refreshed interior.
This sprawling 5,000 square foot home includes a salon, ballet room, two media rooms, a conference room, multifunctional study, and, lastly, a guest house (which is a mini version of the main house).

Faced with an outdated original kitchen with cabinets she was not crazy about, Ann knew she wanted to update the space.
“Originally I was going to paint the existing oak cabinets, tweak them a little bit, replace a couple and try to create more cabinetry where a desk was [situated],” she says.
However, it was at this point her handyman recommended using IKEA cabinetry instead, which she quickly began to research at her local IKEA – even starting a quick mock up on the IKEA Home Planner software.
“I could see that an IKEA kitchen was definitely in the budget. Naturally, it was more than just painting and reconfiguring a few things in the existing cabinets, but it was so worth it!” she says.
Although Ann knew how she wanted her IKEA kitchen to look, she also knew she needed professional design assistance.
She explains: “I had created a design online with IKEA’s 3-D kitchen planner. However I wanted a professional to look over the design and complete or fill in the layout with the most efficient use of cabinets and drawers.”
Enter IKD’s design team.
IKD guided her as to where to put pullouts to place shelves and where cupboards would make more sense than drawers.
This made her IKEA kitchen much more ergonomic and functional.
“I trusted these professionals to know and design for basic storage needs and to add details I would not have thought about,” she says.
Once the layout with IKEA LEHRYTTAN stained black cabinetry was established, Ann also hired MC Wood Works in Chino, CA to install her cabinetry.
“The owner and installer, Michael, does nothing but install IKEA and has been doing it for 20 years. He was far less expensive than other installers and estimated a day to a day and a half versus almost five days that was quoted to us from other installers. He was fantastic,” she says.

Pondless Waterfalls are simply a re-circulating waterfall and/or stream without the presence of a pond. You can enjoy the sight and sound of running water without the maintenance of a pond. The waterfall is undoubtedly the most beautiful and favored feature in a water garden. If space is lacking in your yard or you have safety concerns with a pond, go Pondless! The name basically explains it all. It’s a waterfall and stream, without the pond. So why would you want a waterfall without a pond? The truth is that a Pondless Waterfall isn’t for everyone, but it can be a great alternative for someone who isn’t quite sure if a pond is right for their family.

These clients were empty nesters, who had lived in their home for 12 years and didn't know what to do with the living room. They bought a sofa and weren't thrilled with it once it arrived. Thinking they made the wrong choice, they were frozen. I used that sofa though they really thought it wouldn't work. They also “thought” they needed a new fireplace… I explained once the space was done they would like it. The after room… they like the sofa and the fireplace.

The room was dark brown, which was fine for a while ... but for an entranceway and a room without windows, dark was not an appropriate long term choice. There was a feng shui request in this re-decorating project, earth tones were not welcome in this area of the home, black, white, metal and water were preferable colors/elements. The walls are 2 layers of metallic paint, the undercoat is a silver, the top coat is a gunmetal mixed with the silver to create an uneven tone. A wide wallpaper paste brush was used to create a vertical linear pattern. The Larson Juhl gold leaf framed mirror is covered in adhesive car vinyl. The Ikea unit is enveloped in an adhesive mural, printed by muralsyourway.com, the artist is David Bromstad. The chair seats were recovered in a silver vinyl fabric. The rug is from overstock.com. The capiz chandelier is from West Elm. The table base is an Ikea take on the Eero Saarinen tulip table. In the "before" room, there were glass tables cluttered with everyday items and "to do" piles of paper. The goal was to have storage in this room to hide the clutter. There was not an outlet on the wall where the Ikea unit sits, and there was not a budget to have the prewar wall fitted with electricity, so an extension cord crosses the room under a grey cord concealer.
