Awarded by the Classical institute of art and architecture , the linnean house has a restrained and simple elevation of doors and windows. Nestled in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Washington, D.C., the Linnean House is classical in both plan and elevation throughout its award-winning house plans. The main mass, comprising of the most formal and public spaces, is a spatial triptych along a symmetrical main axis. Inside the luxury home, the limestone façade, simple but well-proportioned with classical elements, extends itself into both the entry portico and main foyer with consistent proportions and materiality. This introduction allows the flanking living and dining rooms to be perceived as separate pavilions, each equipped with eight equal-proportioned French doors symmetrical of the main axis. Beyond the classical spaces are two wings which lead to the master suite and a kitchen/family space, respectively. Both of which are situated to queue from the French door axis, a focal feature in the repeatedly published home design. At the entry foyer, the stark stone luxury architecture is warmed by two symmetrical wood armoire-like freestanding sculptural objects, a persistent theme throughout the luxury house. In the kitchen, for instance, stand four similar wood armoire objects at opposite corners that act as columns and help give this space a sense of boundary and enclosure. The master bath vanity, in similar fashion, is introduced as a central free-standing form anchoring itself as a notable presence in the space. Lastly, the wine room is designed as a series of free-standing heavy wood cavity walls spanned only by a hint of glass.

Every detail of this European villa-style home exudes a uniquely finished feel. Our design goals were to invoke a sense of travel while simultaneously cultivating a homely and inviting ambience. This project reflects our commitment to crafting spaces seamlessly blending luxury with functionality. The living room drew its inspiration from a collection of pillows characterized by rich velvet, plaid, and paisley patterns in shades of blue and red. This design approach conveyed a British Colonial style with a touch of Ralph Lauren's distinctive flair. A blue chenille fabric was employed to upholster a tufted sofa adorned with leather and brass bridle bit accents on the sides. At the center of the room is a striking plaid ottoman, complemented by a pair of blood-red leather chairs positioned to capture a picturesque lake view. As part of the Modelowedomy collection of individually configurable houses, Modbarn combines the character of a modern barn with a spacious high-ceilinged living and dining area, while the kitchen is partially separated from the lounge by an openwork shelving unit. Contemporary living room designed as part of a modern barn house interior project in Poland. The space combines minimalist architecture, natural materials and soft neutral tones to create a calm and timeless atmosphere. Full-height glazing brings the garden directly into the composition, while the impressive ceiling height emphasizes the generous scale of the living area. Seen from the lounge, the high interior is defined by a light palette and carefully coordinated textures. A large, deep upholstered sofa in warm beige occupies the foreground, accompanied by a folded textured throw and soft cushions. In front of it, two low round coffee tables create a layered arrangement, with a sculptural wooden bowl providing a simple decorative accent. A large woven rug extends across the seating zone, introducing a subtle tactile pattern and visually anchoring the furniture against the light oak herringbone floor. The television is presented as a freestanding element on a slim black floor stand rather than mounted directly onto the wall, giving the arrangement a lighter and more architectural appearance. Behind it, the entire wall is finished with narrow vertical white slats, creating a distinctive ribbed texture that adds depth to the otherwise monochromatic interior. Several slender pendant lights hang from the high ceiling above the living and dining area, emphasizing the vertical proportions of the room. Next to the television, a freestanding black wood-burning stove stands on its own protective glass hearth. Its compact, traditional form and visible flame introduce a strong dark accent and a sense of warmth against the predominantly white and beige surroundings. The contrast between the black stove, television stand and pale finishes gives the room a crisp contemporary character without losing its residential feel. Large windows and glazed doors fill the background with daylight and provide a direct view towards the greenery outside. White vertical blinds soften the extensive glazing, while the light-filled garden becomes a natural backdrop for the neutral interior. The combination of the tall living space, textured wall cladding, freestanding television, wood-burning stove, soft sofa and natural timber flooring illustrates the refined yet comfortable approach to modern interiors developed by STUDIO KONDE, an interior architecture studio in Poznań.

This multifunctional space now serves as a beautiful modern office with a hide away murphy bed that’s perfect for guests. We used bold & rich colors to compliment the versatile trim and wall colors. The modern sofa extends out to offer more seating and sleeping options for multiple guests. The trendy chandelier adds just the right touch of glamour to the room.

Modern Living Room with Wood Slat Fireplace Wall This dramatic living space is anchored by a floor-to-ceiling wood slat accent wall, illuminated from behind with soft integrated lighting that traces the full height of the room. A sleek linear fireplace is recessed directly into the slats, creating a striking, gallery-like focal point. A curved white sectional sofa and matching ottoman offer generous, relaxed seating, while a pair of leather swivel accent chairs add warmth and texture in contrasting brown tones. A live-edge wood side table and sculptural black coffee table bring organic and modern elements together atop a soft neutral area rug. Just beyond the seating area, a floor-to-ceiling wood slat room divider doubles as open shelving, displaying a curated collection of books and decorative objects while maintaining sightlines through to the entryway and front door. Richly veined marble flooring extends throughout, and tall windows alongside the door flood the space with natural light. Together, the space balances architectural drama with comfortable, livable furnishings — a warm, sculptural living room that feels connected to the rest of the home's open, modern design.

KITCHEN RENOVATION  CURRENT CRAFTSMAN This client started off just being curious about our services - what we could do, and if we could even help her update her kitchen. She and her husband with their two teenage kids have lived in their home for several years without updating anything since the house was originally built. They didn’t quite have a budget in mind yet. They didn’t know their style, or even if they had one. Their timeline was simple, “as fast as you can so we’re not without a kitchen for very long” (usually what we hear for kitchen updates). After a very productive consultation: determining the scope of work and zeroing in on a budget, I was very excited to update this underwhelming space to something that is modern but timeless, something that is theirs. And, it was easy to see what type of design style they gravitated toward looking at the pieces they already own: Craftsman/Prairie Style. I left the meeting so excited to weave in yet another genre of design to my CDG portfolio! We circled in our contractor to discuss the changes they were looking to make and the scope of work that would be theirs. Then I was off to get designing: // Because the kitchen’s footprint and the defined breakfast space delineated by the bay, we kept the perimeter cabinetry as it was originally laid out. We updated these cabinets to a beautiful soft Alabaster White with a Barn Wood Glaze to highlight the simplicity of the shaker style doors. We added transom cabinets above the uppers, with only the back wall having seeded glass inserts to highlight some of their collectables. // The original shaped island was counter-productive (See what I did there?) in functionality and design. We squared this off to reduce some of the angles and gain more storage. We highlighted the new island with a contrasting oak cabinet in a dark finish, to pay our respects to the craftsman style, and topped with a concrete-like countertop as a nod to the Prairie Style, allowing the homeowners to gain two extra seats and a massive -uninterrupted- work surface. // The small section of cabinetry between the garage entry and fridge now is the perfect dump-station for mail, electronics, whatever is in their hands when they come into the house; and completely hidden by the refrigerator. // The disconnected cabinetry in the breakfast area makes for a great place to have a working office. Accessible from the kitchen or the adjacent great room, this is the perfect place for the kids to do their homework while mom and dad are putting together dinner. The base cabinets are built out for office-type storage: paper and pencil drawers, filing systems, and cord management. Additionally, the long counter provides a ton of worksurface to spread out. // The largest transformation was the pantry. We raised the height of the doorway and added huge custom designed bypass sliding barndoors. Finished with a dark stain to compliment the island and cut to inset 4 stained glass windows, typical of this style of design, and driving home the concept for the whole space. // They were desperate to replace their flooring with something extremely durable to flow throughout the kitchen and the whole main level. This beautiful new flooring is actually a textured LVT(!) Which allowed them to save on overall cost and extend the life of their new flooring purchase. // They loved their copper table, so we kept it and added new simple, mid-century modern chairs around it and a shiny new craftsman-style chandelier above. We added bright barstools in a burnt orange-red accent, and a bright woven rug to tie it all together. // Because the kitchen renovation was shaping up to be pretty spectacular, they decided they needed to now replace their ‘now-these-look-a-little-too-old’ upholstered seating in the neighboring great room with 2 new sofas. We found the perfect sage-y-grey fabric which we covered on sofa frames that have and exposed oak-wood base, which we finished in a warm weathered grey. // As every designer knows, a room isn’t finished until there’s something on the windows. Now that the new flooring was installed and every other room on the main level ‘seemed’ to be updated, we needed to update the window treatments in the dining, and great rooms to reflect their new design concept. I hope you find the ‘after’ photos refreshing (as refreshing as it was for me to work on something that’s not a “Farm House” style that’s saturating the industry right now!) This was such a fun project and a great collaboration with our contractor.

The original character of the space was retained with the use of wood furniture, leather director's chairs and a gallery wall full of family pictures. We changed the layout by replacing the old couch & love seat with a comfortable grey sectional sofa, flanked by a console table at the back, that helped to visually extend the entry way. The bead board paneling in the dining room was painted white which complemented the white brick fire place. The dining area continued the warmth and we cocooned the settee in between two IKEA cabinets painted in the same color as the wall to get a high end look. All in all, a great place for the family to hang out!

The Coast daybed has an extendable bed that allows it to be used as a sofa and when extended as a daybed. It also has overhead shading and retractable blinds on all sides for flexible sun control. Four, 16'' x 16'' throw pillows are included. The weave design is made of Viro wicker placed over an aluminum frame. The bed cushion fabric is taupe colored and the pillows are canvas. Both are made with a quick drying exterior foam and are covered with Sunbrella® fabric which is extremely resistant to moisture and colorfast against sunlight. Custom fabrics are also available. Cushion and pillow covers can be machine washed and are zippered for easy removal. The blinds are made of Batyline; a very durable and weather resistant polymer weave. A matching side table is also available.
