The existing 90 square foot galley kitchen was small and narrow, with limited storage and counterspace. By utilizing the hallway and master closet opposite, we expanded the kitchen across the hall, creating a 5’-6”x 2’-0”x 7’-0” niche for the Subzero refrigerator and under counter wine storage unit. The existing kitchen doorway was widened to unify the two spaces. Separating the tall elements from the original galley, the new design was able to provide uninterrupted counterspace and extra storage. Because of its proximity to the living area, the niche is also able to serve a dual role as an easily accessible bar with glass storage above when the client is entertaining.
Modern, high-gloss cabinetry was extended to the ceiling, replacing the existing traditional millwork and capitalizing on previously unused space. An existing breakfast nook with a view of the East River, which had been one of the client’s favorite features, was awkwardly placed and provided for tight and uncomfortable seating. We rebuilt the banquettes, pushing them back for easier access and incorporating hidden storage compartments into the seats.

A non load bearing wall was removed to make an open concept kitchen and dinning space. We installed an island to make extra work space. To keep clean and dimple look we installed 6" basic floor molding's, simple white shaker cabinets and added a black granite counter top for contrast. A white subway tile backlash was added for texture.

Reclaimed barn wood was used for the hood vent and we designed it as a custom element for the interior. This open plan makes for a great space to entertain and connect with family before and during meal times. The long island allows for interaction in the kitchen. This farmhouse kitchen displays a rustic elegance that people are really excited about these days.

MOSAIC MIST
Shimmering tile, soft greys and spa-day ease.
DESIGN DESCRIPTION
This bathroom proves that a modest footprint can still feel like a private spa. Clean white tile sets a bright, airy backdrop, punctuated by a shimmering panel of glass and stone mosaic that frames the tub like a work of art. The same mosaic returns as a band behind the vanity, tying the room together. A frameless glass screen, body sprays and a handheld wand turn the tub into a full shower experience, while a recessed niche keeps essentials tidy. A floating charcoal vanity with an integrated sink and a glass waterfall faucet pairs with a mirrored cabinet lit by slim vertical lights. Light wood-look floating shelves, a heated towel rail and a tall frosted glass cabinet add warmth and clever storage. Bright, calm and thoughtfully planned, it makes the everyday routine feel like a treat.

This modern farmhouse bathroom has an extra large vanity with double sinks to make use of a longer rectangular bathroom. The wall behind the vanity has counter to ceiling Jeffrey Court white subway tiles that tie into the shower. There is a playful mix of metals throughout including the black framed round mirrors from CB2, brass & black sconces with glass globes from Shades of Light , and gold wall-mounted faucets from Phylrich. The countertop is quartz with some gold veining to pull the selections together. The charcoal navy custom vanity has ample storage including a pull-out laundry basket while providing contrast to the quartz countertop and brass hexagon cabinet hardware from CB2. This bathroom has a glass enclosed tub/shower that is tiled to the ceiling. White subway tiles are used on two sides with an accent deco tile wall with larger textured field tiles in a chevron pattern on the back wall. The niche incorporates penny rounds on the back using the same countertop quartz for the shelves with a black Schluter edge detail that pops against the deco tile wall.
