This is the first of three sets of bunks along the 34' wall in the 700 sq. ft. bunk room at Deja View Villa, a Caribbean vacation rental in St. John USVI. This section features a king bed on the bottom with shelves on both sides and a twin XL on the top. Each bunk has it's own lamps, plugs with usb's, a miniature fan and a beach picture with led lighting. A 6" wide full bed length granite shelf is on the side of each twin xl bed between the mattress and the wall to provide a wider, more spacious bunk! With the ceilings being 11' 3" tall, the bunks were custom built extra tall to ensure all guests, no matter what their height, can sit comfortably. The walls and ceilings are white painted tongue and groove cypress. Each of the six bunks have individual beach pictures and hand painted bunk signs to make ever guest feel special! The custom orange curtains provide privacy and the cable railing safety for the top bunks. This Great room is where the family spends a majority of their time. A large navy blue velvet sectional is extra deep for hanging out or watching movies. We layered floral pillows, color blocked pillows, and a vintage rug fragment turned decorative pillow on the sectional. The sunny yellow chairs flank the fireplace and an oversized custom gray leather cocktail ottoman does double duty as a coffee table and extra seating. The large wood tray warms up the cool color palette. A trio of openwork brass chandeliers are scaled for the large space. We created a vertical element in the room with stacked gray stone and installed a reclaimed timber as a mantel.

THE NEW TRANSITIONAL Designed by Micqui McGowen. Photographed by Julie Soefer. This was a remodel of an older traditional home where we enlarged the space by incorporating an enclosed porch into the kitchen and living area. Our unique design challenge was to create a fresh clean transitional look with a hint of whimsy that would fit naturally into the traditional lines of the home but reflect the fun nature of the client. The Main Kitchen is designed in an “L” shape configuration with a custom island running the length of the working kitchen. A second lowered island sits at the end of the main island across from the refrigerator as an additional prep area. The main kitchen wall features a 48” Dual-Fuel Range and custom plaster hood with a 48” Pro-Style refrigerator on the adjoining wall. Between the range and refrigerator is a secondary prep sink with in-counter steam unit for healthy cooking. The main island separates the kitchen from the Butler’s Pantry and Living Area. Counter height seating runs along the island back to encourage guest interaction while cooking. The Island also features the main kitchen sink, dish drawers and 27” integrated refrigerator drawers to cool extra drinks for guests. The result… warm, friendly, fun and functional.
