The island, by Crystal Keyline, is finished in Antique Ivory w/Brown Highlights and glass doors. It is the focal point of the kitchen, contrasting nicely with the Toasted Rye w/Brown Highlights cabinetry. The range-hood and cooktop area, also finished in Antique Ivory w/Brown Highlights, add an extra punch of interest. The Bayfield door style unifies the design. This custom kitchen required the complete customization of the space to the specific needs of the client, due to the on-set of a neuromuscular disorder. The space also had to function well for his wife who does most the cooking on a daily basis. The layout was designed for the couple to be able to work together in the kitchen, or independently. Although largely dictated by her husband's need for accessibility, the universal design of this kitchen is also extremely friendly for a the wife's smaller stature. The couple feels at home in this kitchen yet, it’s not obvious that someone with physical limitations utilizes this space. Typhoon Bordeaux granite countertops are layered in staggered heights for added visual interest.

We converted this 3 car garage into an ADU. The space now has a living room and physical therapy space for its' tenants. The Assisted Living facility has a coastal feeling with blue, creams and natural soft colors to create a relaxing environment.

A white 66" freestanding tub takes up less physical and visual space than the previous built-in tub and allowed for an expanded shower. The original layout had the sinks on opposite sides of the room. Joining the sinks in a single vanity over 8' allowed the space for a huge linen closet. The on-set of a neuromuscular disorder was the basis for this custom kitchen. Specific design solutions & necessary amenities required the complete customization of this space, over and above accessible guidelines. The kitchen design was tailored to the specific needs of the client, connoisseur of unique (& delicious) soups, as well as to his wife who does most the cooking on a daily basis. The layout was designed for the couple to be able to work together in the kitchen, or independently. Because not all wheelchair users have the same needs, the designer took specific measurements of the client in various positions in his power chair which has elevator capabilities. The height and depth of the cabinet toe-space was designed to accommodate the user relative to his arm length, torso height, and his specific power chair model. Base cabinets featuring drawers and roll-out trays are extremely useful for the couple. The wall cabinets were also placed at a specific height set by the clients, to accommodate a comfortable reach from a seated or standing position. The couple feels at home in this kitchen yet, it’s not obvious that someone with physical limitations utilizes this space.

Despite physical disabilities that limit his financial opportunities, Allen wholly devotes himself to making intricate and beautiful papercut works. He says that his motivation to create work is to “keep busy and make people happy.” Each of Allen’s pieces is made with a single sheet of black paper. He chooses to create his work out of paper because it is inexpensive. He explains, "You don’t mind if you mess it up. If you do, then you just crumple it up and get a new piece of paper." When our client approached us with a budget of $1,000 and a two-month timeline, she was looking to revive her outdated walk-in closet. The old setup was literally falling apart and so cramped that it hardly lived up to the name "walk-in." Our mission was to breathe new life into this space, transforming it into a functional and inviting retreat. We kicked off the transformation by applying fresh paint and crafting custom storage solutions that precisely matched our client's needs. She had been struggling with locating her shoes, hidden away in old shoe boxes, and her handbags scattered throughout. Our solution was a wallet-friendly, adaptable shoe storage system that keeps everything in sight and easily accessible, evolving right along with her collection. One of our client's priorities was ensuring comfort for her adorable, cuddly dogs who love spending time in the closet. We chose a washable rug that not only complements the decor but also withstands the occasional mess, maintaining a cozy vibe. Adding a personal touch, we showcased her cherished wedding shoes and incorporated vintage knobs from her daughter's nursery into the design, making the closet feel uniquely hers. To streamline her daily routine, we introduced a practical, stylish hamper on wheels, enabling easy transport of laundry from the closet to the laundry room. The decluttering process was initially overwhelming for our client. With patience and a fresh perspective, we helped her let go of five bags of high-quality clothes and shoes. This not only cleared up physical space but also made room for new beginnings and experiences in her life. This project was much more than a simple renovation; it was about creating a space that reflects and supports our client's lifestyle, complete with thoughtful touches that make it truly special.

Working alongside contractor Bales Inc., architect Jeff Klein from Klein Architecture led the renovation with the goal of opening the once dark interior to natural light and the surrounding landscape.
