Despite physical disabilities that limit his financial opportunities, Allen wholly devotes himself to making intricate and beautiful papercut works. He says that his motivation to create work is to “keep busy and make people happy.” Each of Allen’s pieces is made with a single sheet of black paper. He chooses to create his work out of paper because it is inexpensive. He explains, "You don’t mind if you mess it up. If you do, then you just crumple it up and get a new piece of paper." The remodel centers around a custom-built bar with open shelving, integrated wine storage, and thoughtful millwork that balances rustic texture with refined craftsmanship. A dedicated poker table area creates space for relaxed hosting, while the layout maintains visual and physical flow into the adjacent game room. Natural materials and warm tones give the room a grounded feel, while transitional details keep the design timeless and approachable. Every element was selected to support both casual evenings and larger gatherings, allowing the space to adapt to the homeowners’ lifestyle. This project is a strong example of how intentional design can turn a specific vision — in this case, a space for entertaining with ease — into a personalized and lasting part of the home.

With sweeping vistas of Lake Sunapee, and sunsets over its western shore, this lakeside home is designed to take advantage of the great views and moderate elevation above the lake in every room. The outdoor living areas extend spaces physically and seasonally. Influenced by the shingle style, the home features classic elements of the aesthetic. Terraces in the landscape are subtle as the land falls away; creating functional water management and landscaping opportunities while addressing the slope of the property. When our client approached us with a budget of $1,000 and a two-month timeline, she was looking to revive her outdated walk-in closet. The old setup was literally falling apart and so cramped that it hardly lived up to the name "walk-in." Our mission was to breathe new life into this space, transforming it into a functional and inviting retreat. We kicked off the transformation by applying fresh paint and crafting custom storage solutions that precisely matched our client's needs. She had been struggling with locating her shoes, hidden away in old shoe boxes, and her handbags scattered throughout. Our solution was a wallet-friendly, adaptable shoe storage system that keeps everything in sight and easily accessible, evolving right along with her collection. One of our client's priorities was ensuring comfort for her adorable, cuddly dogs who love spending time in the closet. We chose a washable rug that not only complements the decor but also withstands the occasional mess, maintaining a cozy vibe. Adding a personal touch, we showcased her cherished wedding shoes and incorporated vintage knobs from her daughter's nursery into the design, making the closet feel uniquely hers. To streamline her daily routine, we introduced a practical, stylish hamper on wheels, enabling easy transport of laundry from the closet to the laundry room. The decluttering process was initially overwhelming for our client. With patience and a fresh perspective, we helped her let go of five bags of high-quality clothes and shoes. This not only cleared up physical space but also made room for new beginnings and experiences in her life. This project was much more than a simple renovation; it was about creating a space that reflects and supports our client's lifestyle, complete with thoughtful touches that make it truly special.

A city condo needed an uplift, all finishes started to feel outdated, the kitchen's layout did not work for a dynamic couple who love to entertain and play Bridge with their friends on the regular basis. We developed a plan how to provide a luxurious experience and necessary changes in the limited space. The condo has some physical limitations as well, such as the load bearing walls could not be changed, the duct work had to stay in place, and the floor finishes had to satisfy strict sound restrictions.

Originally built in 1892, this quaint log cabin has undergone a transformative renovation while preserving its charming character. Located near the Little Deschutes River in Central Oregon, within the historic Vandert Homestead, the home now boasts bright, open spaces for everyday living, complete with flexible aluminum clad folding doors. Working alongside contractor Bales Inc., architect Jeff Klein from Klein Architecture led the renovation with the goal of opening the once dark interior to natural light and the surrounding landscape. Central to the design was transforming a deteriorating garage into a new functional sunroom, creating a light-filled space that reorients the cabin design toward the patio and natural environment. Positioned along the south elevation, the sunroom captures daylight throughout the day while acting as a buffer between the interior and exterior environments. A revised roof assembly was developed to resolve previous drainage failures. Working with framers, the design team incorporated a sloping roof system with a waterproof membrane to direct water away from the structure. This approach not only protected the log walls but also created access to a rooftop deck from the upper level, adding functional outdoor space without expanding the building footprint. “It was also critical to transform the existing dark, segmented interior spaces by physically opening them up to the new sunroom,” says Klein. “NanaWall systems offered the ideal solution for what we were after.” historical homestead interior Improving Spatial Flow, From the Kitchen to the Sunroom The kitchen remained largely intact during the renovation, retaining many of the elements that had defined the cabin’s character for decades. What changed was how the kitchen connects to the surrounding rooms. The addition was designed to sit comfortably alongside the existing log structure while introducing expansive glazing and aluminum clad folding doors that draw daylight deep into the home.
