Fantasy Brown Leathered dolomite went into this West Columbia kitchen, and it's the kind of stone that changes how a room feels the second the light hits it. Leathered finish instead of polished, so you get texture under your hand instead of a mirror flat surface. It softens the brown and cream movement in the stone, gives it a low sheen, and hides fingerprints and water spots a lot better than a honed or polished slab would in a kitchen that actually gets used. Dolomite has that soft, warm background movement, browns and creams drifting through each other, and it holds up well against everyday acids and scratching in a working kitchen. It's still a natural stone, so we sealed it properly, and the leathered texture actually helps there, it hides the wear that would show up fast on a glass-smooth surface. Getting the veining to read right across the seams is the real work on a stone like this. We template the room, lay the slabs out, and take our time matching the movement across the corners and the seams before anything gets cut, so the pattern keeps flowing instead of jumping when you walk from one stretch of counter to the next. It's slower than pushing straight into fabrication, but it's the difference between a kitchen that looks like one slab and one that looks like pieces. Edge came out eased, clean and simple, which is the right call on a stone with this much going on in the surface. You don't need a fancy profile competing with the leathering and the movement in the dolomite, the material carries the room on its own. Day to day it lives well. Set a hot pan down and it takes it fine, though a trivet never hurts. It'll take the knocks of a working kitchen better than people expect, and the leathered texture keeps it looking good years in instead of showing every little scuff. That's the kind of project we like doing around West Columbia and the rest of the Midlands, matching the right stone to a kitchen that's going to get lived in, not just looked at.

Rounding the corner into the great room, one is immediately hit by the breathtaking view that extends outward beyond the infinity pool and deck through a continuous wall of glass. In the opposite direction, each of the three bedrooms was designed with its own seating area and bathroom, creating private suites for family members and guests alike. The linear design and open, flowing living spaces provide almost every room with outdoor access to the expansive patio, protected from the Sonoma heat by deep overhangs. Warm woods, clean lines, and a rhythmic post and beam ceiling design create a homey feeling of rest and relaxation, evoking the essence of modern California living. Tower Paddle Boards, or Tower (as in a lifeguard tower), is a dedicated stand up paddle boarding brand started by Stephan Aarstol and later funded by Shark Tank icon Mark Cuban on ABC's hit show. Simply Stunning Spaces has had the absolute pleasure of watching this company grow from their small office space in Pacific Beach to expanding their warehouse space and most recently gaining a prominent location on one of San Diego's most recognizable streets, Garnet Ave. This space had a long ways to go to becoming something simply stunning but the end result was just that. By removing the ceiling tiles and opening up to the 15 foot ceilings hidden away we were able to maximize the square footage of the office, gain a second floor of office space and dedicate the bottom floor to retail and event space for the SUP community to enjoy. Some of our favorite features: the 31 foot Tower mural inside the glass enclosed private work space, the outdoor painted signage, the sand blasted ceilings which were definitely worth it! The exposed duct work add to its industrial feel and the glass enclosed shaping room in the window is an absolute show stopper! The bar we built for the previous office space fit just perfectly in the new space. We love repurposing whenever we can and the dedicated niche we built to house all the really cool awards and recognitions the owner and company have received were well deserving of being highlighted. It's not too often you can say you've been in Inc magazine, Forbes, 20/20... just to name a few!

For the Kamp's we added a covered patio with a corner fireplace and stone column. The existing house formed a "U" shaped patio that the afternoon sun hit hard. Attaching the structure to the house and extending it out further we were able to provide a very usable outdoor living area, it feels like an indoor living room. The ceiling is a beautiful stained tongue and grove while all the exterior is hardi plank painted to match the house. The tin roof for the covered patio and the rest of the house was install by Allegiance Roofing. The fireplace and 36" tall stone column are constructed out of Austin Limestone.

This gorgeous property just hit the market. I love the vaulted ceilings and original entranceway. Rather than sell this home without furniture, we brought all the accessories and furniture in to help purchasers feel at home as they imagine their own furniture in the spaces. From our Go Fund me Page Feb. 2016 Princess Kaylee is only two and a half years old and was recently diagnosed with cancer. We need your generosity so that we can give her the enchanted room of her dreams as she endures 2.5 years of treatments. We're breaking out our magic wands and designing a gorgeous room for this sweet little girl. With your assistance, we can create a fairy tale space for Kaylee and her family to rest and recover. Kaylee's story hits especially close to home in our tight-knit community. Her mother, Kelly, is an oncology nurse at Rady Children's Hospital. Yes, you read that correctly - her mother has spent the last 8 years compassionately caring after children who have been diagnosed with cancer. In fact, she was one of the dedicated nurses who so wonderfully cared for Savvy Giving by Design's very first recipient, Kasey Harvey. And Kelly is not the only hero in this family. Kaylee's father, Jared, is a local CHP officer who keeps our streets safe and not long ago rescued multiple children after a lengthy stand-off with their abductor. http://www.10news.com/news/chp-officers-relive-moments-in-highway-standoff-121214 Jared and Kelly have two beautiful children. Their son Drew is 5 years-old and daughter Kaylee will turn 3 in August. Kaylee's diagnosis, Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, turned this family's world upside down. While her prognosis is, thankfully, very good (with a 93% cure rate), the treatment will be incredibly arduous. Kaylee is facing 2.5 years of ongoing treatment with periods of intense chemotherapy followed by "maintenance" chemo. As hard as it is to believe, Kaylee's treatment will not be complete until she is 5 years-old and preparing to enter kindergarten. Given the ongoing and onerous treatment regimen that Kaylee faces, Savvy Giving by Design knows that she will need a beautiful and comfortable room where she can rest and be visited by family and friends. Kaylee is currently transitioning out of her crib and we have big intentions for this princess-loving little girl. Our plan is to combine fun and functionality with details and personal touches that will show Kaylee that there is an entire community rallying behind her. We will incorporate Kaylee's favorite colors (pink and purple) and turn her fantasies into reality by installing a built-in castle bed that makes her room feel magical and shows this little girl that anything is possible. This room will have some very personal special touches incorporated into it to pay tribute to Kaylee's fairy godmother. When Kelly was 13, she lost her very best friend, Jessica, to cancer. Kelly paid tribute to her dear friend by naming her daughter Kaylee Jessica and she wholeheartedly believes that Jessica will be watching over her little girl as she travels this difficult road. With sufficient funding, we will also be able to do a little makeover for Kaylee's knight in shining armor, her big brother Drew. We recognize and appreciate that Drew faces a struggle all his own as his little sister battles this disease. Savvy Giving by Design is a the philanthropic arm of Savvy Interiors, Inc. We are registered with the state of California as a nonprofit and awaiting our "formal" 501(c)(3) designation by the IRS. Your donations are tax-deductible. All monies collected will go directly to this space! Any excess funds will be distributed directly to the family. In this modern kitchen, with a farm house twist, I played with textures more than colors. White palette with grey tones are softened by green stools, a sisal rug and Turkish towels. Natural flowers are never a bad idea (daisies hit the spot for me this morning). Textured quartz on the island really made a difference in this space. It bonded the floor and counter top through these organic textures and wave-like ripples. A really interesting way to unify the hard and solid surfaces.
