Looking into into the kitchen from the adjacent family room. The doors to the patio are just out of view to the left. To the right is the open air atrium. The skylights bring in abundant light, leaving the walls free for a long run of cabinetry. The over-sized island is used for informal meals and homework. The table to the left is used by the parents and two children for dinners and weekend pancakes.

The metal screen folds up to create a solar
shade on the south façade, and in some areas a reflecting pool mirrors the overhang in shape and size.

House 6, is Cheng Design’s sixth custom home project, was redesigned and constructed from top-to-bottom. The project represents a major career milestone thanks to the unique and innovative use of concrete, as this residence is one of Cheng Design’s first-ever ‘hybrid’ structures, constructed as a combination of wood and concrete.

Customer review: The pergola was well built to my measurements. Craftsmanship is excellent. I went with 4x4 posts to match the deck. Some hardware may have to be trimmed when assembled. A shade cloth was added for additional protection. While the wood looks great the first year, it will darken after a Northwest winter.

Your Best Redwood Furniture will last a lifetime! But we'll guarantee your product for at least 5 years all-round weather conditions with normal maintenance every year or so.
California redwood is one of nature’s most maintenance-free building materials. It has a natural resistance to decay and insects. Redwood’s natural stability means it shrinks, warps, and splits less than most other woods. In addition, no other wood takes and holds finishes better than redwood.
If you want to apply your choice of premium stain sealant or if you enjoy the natural color of redwood lumber, then clear no stain finish is perfect for you. This finish has no sealant applied; we deliver the product with a fine sanded finish only.
Best Redwood offers 4 types of Redwood Finishes. Here are images showing the different types of redwood sealant options applied. From left to right: 1912 -Mission Brown, 1905 -Super Deck, 1910 -Super Deck and Clear No Stain finish.

Upon entering the penthouse the light and dark contrast continues. The exposed ceiling structure is stained to mimic the 1st floor's "tarred" ceiling. The reclaimed fir plank floor is painted a light vanilla cream. And, the hand plastered concrete fireplace is the visual anchor that all the rooms radiate off of. Tucked behind the fireplace is an intimate library space.

LiLu transformed this Mississippi River primary bath by removing faux finishes, faux columns, and 1980s complexity to refocus the room on sky, water, and wellness. Periwinkle walls, a sculptural freestanding tub, full-height windows, a custom reeded blue vanity with brass hardware and dressing area, a white-gray-gold tile inset, capsule sconces, and herringbone marble create a refined, intentional retreat.
