This tiny home is located on a treelined street in the Kitsilano neighborhood of Vancouver. We helped our client create a living and dining space with a beach vibe in this small front room that comfortably accommodates their growing family of four. The starting point for the decor was the client's treasured antique chaise (positioned under the large window) and the scheme grew from there. We employed a few important space saving techniques in this room... One is building seating into a corner that doubles as storage, the other is tucking a footstool, which can double as an extra seat, under the custom wood coffee table. The TV is carefully concealed in the custom millwork above the fireplace. Finally, we personalized this space by designing a family gallery wall that combines family photos and shadow boxes of treasured keepsakes. This photo: Irregularly stacked Cantera Negra stone frames the fireplace in the master bedroom, where a pair of custom chairs and a petrified-wood side table from Organic Findings sit atop a Cowboy Mustang rug from The Floor Collection Design. The custom bed is swathed in a Kravet fabric. Outside, Camelback Mountain rises to the right. Positioned near the base of iconic Camelback Mountain, “Outside In” is a modernist home celebrating the love of outdoor living Arizonans crave. The design inspiration was honoring early territorial architecture while applying modernist design principles. Dressed with undulating negra cantera stone, the massing elements of “Outside In” bring an artistic stature to the project’s design hierarchy. This home boasts a first (never seen before feature) — a re-entrant pocketing door which unveils virtually the entire home’s living space to the exterior pool and view terrace. A timeless chocolate and white palette makes this home both elegant and refined. Oriented south, the spectacular interior natural light illuminates what promises to become another timeless piece of architecture for the Paradise Valley landscape. The client already had this beautiful wood horse sculpture so we sourced a pedestal to elevate it and make it a focal point when entering the house. An organic shaped white chandelier illuminates the room from above while the square ottoman, which was once covered in the same fabric as the navy pillows, is now covered in faux leather and adds a needed lightness to the space. The focal point of this room is the floor to ceiling marble fireplace surround. Specialty white marble clads the fireplace and is flanked by custom white bookshelves on each side. A custom gray sectional provides the perfect spot to watch TV or read. The television is recessed into the fireplace wall allowing no protrusion from the fireplace.
