Inspiration for a timeless living room remodel in St Louis

The program consists of a detached Guest House with full Kitchen, Living and Dining amenities, Carport and Office Building with attached Main house and Master Bedroom wing. The arrangement of buildings was dictated by the numerous majestic oaks and organized as a procession of spaces leading from the Entry arbor up to the front door. Large covered terraces and arbors were used to extend the interior living spaces out onto the site. All the buildings are clad in Texas limestone with accent bands of Leuders limestone to mimic the local limestone cliffs in the area. Steel was used on the arbors and fences and left to rust. Vertical grain Douglas fir was used on the interior while flagstone and stained concrete floors were used throughout. The flagstone floors extend from the exterior entry arbors into the interior of the Main Living space and out onto the Main house terraces.

Living room - living room idea in Minneapolis

Our client facing mobility issues wanted to stay in the home he had purchased with his wife in 1963, and raised his family in. He needed a bathroom on the first floor, because he had decided he was not moving. We needed to create an accessible full bath on his first floor using existing space. We used a portion of his sitting room/office for the bathroom and his family moved his couch and tv to the other half, and then turned his living room into his new bedroom. We converted half of his sitting room to a wet room. The space was directly above plumbing in the basement and also had a window. The shower space does not have an enclosure, only a 17-inch glass panel to protect the medicine cabinet and sink. We added a wall sink to keep floor space open and a large doubled mirror medicine cabinet to provide ample storage. The finishing touch was a pocket door for access; the client chose a door that mirrors the front door which added a bit of interest to the area. We also removed the existing carpeting from the first floor after well-preserved pine flooring was discovered underneath the carpet. When the construction was complete the family redecorated the entire first floor to create a bedroom and sitting area.

This Chelsea loft is an example of making a smaller space go a long way. We needed to fit two offices, two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a den for TV watching, as well as two baths and a laundry room in only 1,350 square feet!

The request for this bathroom was to bring the feel of the ocean to Central Alberta. The blues and beiges all tie together in the quartz countertop, refinished cabinetry and tile inlay in the tub surround. The quartz countertop was the first choice in this design and everything else was chosen to compliment it.

Hired mid demolition, Regan Baker Design Inc. partnered with the first-time home owners and construction team to help bring this two-bedroom two-bath condo some classic casual character. Cabinetry design, finish selection, furniture and accessories were all designed and implemented within a 6-month period. To add interest in the living room RBD added white oak paneling with a v-groove to the ceiling and clad the fireplace in a terra cotta tile. The Arlington is a one and a half story home featuring 4,090 square feet of living space on the first & second floors, plus 1,388 square feet in the finished lower level.

This project is the remaking and reimagining of an historically-rated storybook house in one of San Francisco’s first planned neighborhoods for a 21st century family. Strange half-levels and poor previous remodels were removed. The historic materials and forms of the house were studied and extended while creating a flowing sequence of spaces and a massive new kitchen. White painted cabinets, arched openings and wrought iron railings pull the house together.

Gold-toned fixtures, vibrant wallpaper pattern, and bold deep blue painted wainscotting give this powder room an elegant modern-tradish vibe.
