Not only is function important here, but your counter material is really a major element of the kitchen, so pick one you love! This client fell in love with Taj Mahal Quartzite. The backsplash was the next layer of fun. Now the mood of the kitchen becomes clear. Will it be elegant? Homey? Rustic? Picking the lighting then becomes like the fine tuner on a microscope, adjusting the view to its perfect clarity. With construction underway, and the mood of the new space established, soft furnishings become the focus. Layering in luxurious, yet durable fabrics are the name of the game for most families. We all want beautiful spaces that can stand up to spouses, kids, and pets! It’s always a lot fun to select a deep and comfy sofa and chairs! The finishing touches are what really give the project that designer look—so be sure to save room in the budget for art, window treatments, and accessories. In this home I wallpapered the wall behind the tv with a subtle grasscloth, selected a large abstract to center the room, and echoed its colors throughout the accessories. The result is eye-pleasing indeed: soft, textured, interesting and peaceful. This busy family was thrilled with the results.

This Urbanized Farmhouse look is a compromise between spouses. The "man" space is the gray stained cherry wood & then add in mixture of off white painted cabinetry w/a touch of blue.......classic!

Over 2,000 square feet of steep, scotch-broom-ridden hillside is transformed into a terraced, ecological garden with a wildflower meadow, pollinator habitat, and edible food forest. Beginning at the bottom of the hillside, a flower and herb garden offers easy access to seasonal colors and flavors. Further up, dry-stack Sonoma fieldstone walls line the meandering pathways, creating terraces and habitat nooks throughout the landscape while sequestering water so the garden can thrive. Lining the paths, underneath the live oak + redwood trees, drought-tolerant meadows and plant bouquets fill the open spaces.

This Boulder, Colorado remodel by fuentesdesign demonstrates the possibility of renewal in American suburbs, and Passive House design principles. Once an inefficient single story 1,000 square-foot ranch house with a forced air furnace, has been transformed into a two-story, solar powered 2500 square-foot three bedroom home ready for the next generation. The new design for the home is modern with a sustainable theme, incorporating a palette of natural materials including; reclaimed wood finishes, FSC-certified pine Zola windows and doors, and natural earth and lime plasters that soften the interior and crisp contemporary exterior with a flavor of the west. A Ninety-percent efficient energy recovery fresh air ventilation system provides constant filtered fresh air to every room. The existing interior brick was removed and replaced with insulation. The remaining heating and cooling loads are easily met with the highest degree of comfort via a mini-split heat pump, the peak heat load has been cut by a factor of 4, despite the house doubling in size. During the coldest part of the Colorado winter, a wood stove for ambiance and low carbon back up heat creates a special place in both the living and kitchen area, and upstairs loft. This ultra energy efficient home relies on extremely high levels of insulation, air-tight detailing and construction, and the implementation of high performance, custom made European windows and doors by Zola Windows. Zola’s ThermoPlus Clad line, which boasts R-11 triple glazing and is thermally broken with a layer of patented German Purenit®, was selected for the project. Extra storage anyone? My client wishes were to fill this wasted space with clever storage ideas. The stairway wall was directly across from her dining room which has many Asian styled furniture pieces. So we wanted the cabinetry to have a bit of an Oriental flavor to them. The bottom drawers we were able to gain storage for her linens. While adding decorative glass to the upper doors she now has a space to display her beautiful china. The Cabinets are from DeWil's Custom Cabinetry, from their Horizon frameless line, the Manhattan door style was made with Maple wood in 108 ebony finish.

Maximum exotic and grotesque, it breaks the clichéd notions of how the interior should be. To give your home an African flavor, a global rearrangement of the apartment to arrange not necessarily. This style - is the very embodiment of dynamics, expression, and pounding vital energy. A neatly chosen game of contrasts can achieve an interesting visual effect in this interior. For example, for decorating the room, you can choose warm, soft, muted colors: sandy, terracotta, pale, the color of melted milk, ochre, or wood bark.
