Ulrich Designer: Tom Santarsiero Photography by Peter Rymwid This is a master bath with subtle sophistication and understated elegance. The cabinets were custom designed by Tom, with straight, simple lines, and custom built by Draper DBS of walnut, with a deep, rich brown finish. The richness of the dark cabinetry juxtaposed with the elegance of the white carrara marble on the countertop, wall and floors contributes to the room's sophistication. Ample storage is found in the large vanity and an armoire style cabinet, designed to mimic a free-standing furniture piece, that is positioned behind the door. Architectural beams placed across the vaulted ceiling bring a sense of scale to the room and invite natural light in through the skylight.

This large bathroom remodel feature a clawfoot soaking tub, a large glass enclosed walk in shower, a private water closet, large floor to ceiling linen closet and a custom reclaimed wood vanity made by Limitless Woodworking. Light fixtures and door hardware were provided by Houzz. This modern bohemian bathroom also showcases a cement tile flooring, a feature wall and simple decor to tie everything together.

They came in with a couple of sets of drawings from different architects that were not quite what they were looking for, so we set out to really listen and try to provide a design that would meet their objectives given what the space could offer. We started by agreeing that a bump out was the best way to go and then decided on the size and the floor plan locations of the mudroom, powder room and butler pantry which were all part of the project. We also planned for an eat-in banquette that is neatly tucked into the corner and surrounded by windows providing a lovely spot for daily meals. The kitchen itself is L-shaped with the refrigerator and range along one wall, and the new sink along the exterior wall with a large window overlooking the backyard. A large island, with seating for five, houses a prep sink and microwave. A new opening space between the kitchen and dining room includes a butler pantry/bar in one section and a large kitchen pantry in the other. Through the door to the left of the main sink is access to the new mudroom and powder room and existing attached garage. White inset cabinets, quartzite countertops, subway tile and nickel accents provide a traditional feel. The gray island is a needed contrast to the dark wood flooring. Last but not least, professional appliances provide the tools of the trade needed to make this one hardworking kitchen. The homeowner was looking for a lot more space in a very small bathroom. In order to overcome the room’s lack of any kind of storage the oversized tub was replaced with a shower bench and multiple niches for shampoos. Additional cabinetry storage was created by wrapping the vanity cabinets around a wall and creating tall linen cabinets in an area that had not been used before. Floating vanity under cabinet lights and a special wall lit mirror helped to open up the small space. Large format Porcelenosa Ston-ker Ferroker floor tiles and field tiles in the color Aluminio were used on the floors and vanity wall. Special attention was paid to the geometric layout of the horizontal lines of the entire layout – walnut vertical grained cabinetry, wall and floor tiles to create visual space to the room. A Nu-heat heated floor added to the comfort of the room.

This project shows a new construction guest bathroom with 12" x 24" Valentino gray tile using offset subway layout pattern for the tub surround and vanity wall from floor to ceiling (9 ft.). Floor tile is 3" x 9" Valentino gray tile using herring bone / chevron layout pattern. Floor also includes tile base. All exposed edges including windows, shower walls, and floor base are custom bull-nose profiled.

The mixture of grey green cabinets with the distressed wood floors and ceilings, gives this farmhouse kitchen a feeling of warmth. Cabinets: Brookhaven and the color is Green Stone Benjamin Moore paint color: There's not an exact match for Green Stone, but Gettysburg Grey, HC 107 is close. Sink: Krauss, model KHF200-30, stainless steel Faucet: Kraus, modelKPF-1602 Hardware: Restoration hardware, Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron. Windows: Bloomberg is the manufacturer the hardware is from Restoration hardware--Dakota cup and Dakota round knob. The finish was either the chestnut or iron. Floors: European Oak that is wired brushed. The company is Provenza, Pompeii collection and the color is Amiata. Distressed wood: The wood is cedar that's been treated to look distressed! My client is brilliant , so he did some googling (is that a word?) and came across several sites that had a recipe to do just that. He put a steel wool pad into a jar of vinegar and let it sit for a bit. In another jar, he mixed black tea with water. Brush the tea on first and let it dry. Then brush on the steel wool/vinegar (don't forget to strain the wool). Voila, the wood turns dark. Andrew McKinney Photography

The guest bathroom's focal point is the dynamic black and white geometric patterned tile. The vanity is black and the hardware, faucets, mirror and sconce are all in matte brass. The vanity is topped with quartz. The shower has large matte white tiles we ran in a stacked pattern and we lined the back of the shampoo niche with floor tile for greater interest.

This is a SMALL bathroom with a lot of punch! The double sink was painted black on the base to tie into the black accents on the floor. The subway tile was added to protect the space and make it super kid proof, since this is the bathroom closest to the pool! Joe Kwon Photography
