Having two young boys presents its own challenges, and when you have two of their best friends constantly visiting, you end up with four super active action heroes. This family wanted to dedicate a space for the boys to hangout. We took an ordinary basement and converted it into a playground heaven. A basketball hoop, climbing ropes, swinging chairs, rock climbing wall, and climbing bars, provide ample opportunity for the boys to let their energy out, and the built-in window seat is the perfect spot to catch a break. Tall built-in wardrobes and drawers beneath the window seat to provide plenty of storage for all the toys. You can guess where all the neighborhood kids come to hangout now ☺

After opening up the stairwell between the kitchen and the living room, the homeowners had extra storage space under the stairs. Now it's used as the dog's crate area, complete with a custom doggy door. Photography by: William Manning

The client wanted to create a traditional rustic design with clean lines and a feminine edge. She works from her home office, so she needed it to be functional and organized with elegant and timeless lines. In the kitchen, we removed the peninsula that separated it for the breakfast room and kitchen, to create better flow and unity throughout the space.

Inspiration for a mid-sized modern backyard brick patio kitchen remodel in Jacksonville

This award-winning and intimate cottage was rebuilt on the site of a deteriorating outbuilding. Doubling as a custom jewelry studio and guest retreat, the cottage’s timeless design was inspired by old National Parks rough-stone shelters that the owners had fallen in love with. A single living space boasts custom built-ins for jewelry work, a Murphy bed for overnight guests, and a stone fireplace for warmth and relaxation. Stuart Lirette Jane uses outdoor fabric pillows to repeat the colors of the garden. Each season has its own colors. Come on down and have a seat before the metal fire pit when it gets cool from the winds off the San Francisco Bay.

Using a bold Indoor/Outdoor area rug in the entrance foyer is a perfect example illustrating that you do not have to sacrifice practicality for high-design. The silver table from Z Galleries adds a touch of elegance as well as serving as a practical surface to place keys, bags, etc. Bannister, railings and stair risers painted "almost" black" and cause you to gaze up to the chandelier.
