A British client requested an 'unfitted' look. Robinson Interiors was called in to help create a space that appeared built up over time, with vintage elements. For this kitchen reclaimed wood was used along with three distinctly different cabinet finishes (Stained Wood, Ivory, and Vintage Green), multiple hardware styles (Black, Bronze and Pewter) and two different backsplash tiles. We even used some freestanding furniture (A vintage French armoire) to give it that European cottage feel. A fantastic 'SubZero 48' Refrigerator, a British Racing Green Aga stove, the super cool Waterstone faucet with farmhouse sink all hep create a quirky, fun, and eclectic space! We also included a few distinctive architectural elements, like the Oculus Window Seat (part of a bump-out addition at one end of the space) and an awesome bronze compass inlaid into the newly installed hardwood floors. This bronze plaque marks a pivotal crosswalk central to the home's floor plan. Finally, the wonderful purple and green color scheme is super fun and definitely makes this kitchen feel like springtime all year round! Masterful use of Pantone's Color of the year, Ultra Violet, keeps this traditional cottage kitchen feeling fresh and updated.

Inspiration for a mid-century modern home design remodel in Chicago

This living room was opened up in the remodel to double the living space. We tiled the surround of the fireplace in a encaustic cement tile. The fireplace shelves and mantle were original in this Craftsman home.

Ladder style wall racks are all the rage! You can hang, dry or display anything from them: towels, magazines, flowers, scarves. You can even suspend it from the ceiling horizontally and hang things from it! We love the simple, rustic styling! Made of wood and metal. Dimensions: 20" x 5.5 x 71" H.

CLOSE-UP VIEW This master bath makeover starts with bare walls that have been floated out smooth over the sheetrock. Then we hand applied a beautiful custom tinted, soft grey Venetian plaster. After two coats of plaster, the walls were waxed and buffed. This process seals the plaster, leaving a long-lasting finish. The finished product is subtle and undeniably beautiful! I’ve included a close-up view of the finish below.

Biscayne Bay Fish is an abstract take on a nature inspired painting. Jon truly captures the spirit of the tropics with these beautiful, bright colors. At Jon's studio near Palm Beach, Florida, there are several tanks with tropical fish and other sea life that inspire Jon on a daily basis and this beautiful, unique painting is a product of that inspiration.
