Our work in the existing guest bedrooms was minimal, but impactful. Replacing flooring, ceiling fan, doors and hardware modernizes the space and provides the perfect backdrop for furniture and accents. Antiqued metal bedframe and layered textiles bring a warm bohemian vibe that blends perfectly with the rest of the home.

The owners wished to make better use of their formal living room, so we set out make guests move on past the comfortable kitchen. For this to happen, the living room had to feel just as relaxed. For example, it had to be easy to set down a drink from every seat in the room. We traded all-white upholstery for colors and textures which would feel less intimidating to a guest who might be eating or drinking. We phased the changes by moving existing furniture, and then buying new pieces. I’m happy to report that this comfortable, formal living room now is in regular use. DaubmanPhotography@Cox.net

A rustic, driftwood-style console topped with a low succulent planter defines a cozy den alcove; two boucle-covered stools tuck neatly beneath for impromptu seating. A framed red-and-cream graphic print personalizes the neutral wall, while a tall black-iron arched bookcase at right displays books and pottery. Wide white-oak flooring and exposed ceiling beams continue through the cased opening to the light-filled living area beyond, weaving this eclectic coastal-boho vignette into the home’s open-concept flow.

A subtle yet striking custom-made mini bar floats elegantly on the wall beside the living area. Designed in harmony with the Japanese aesthetic of the space, it complements the nearby green armchairs and invites quiet sophistication. This suspended piece blends function and form, offering a refined accent to the open living concept.

This private residence is designed to reflect an elegant yet serene mood enhanced by soft color pallets. Selective artwork collages and custom textile and carpets compose a symphony of luxury and timeless living. Functionality and practicality are integrated into the details to anticipate every need of residents, offering indulgence and comfort in each space.

I live for moments of grace, such as classical music, beautiful china, fine art, and textiles. This home is a testament of this philosophy, with an eclectic mix of the fine and the understated. Next to a work of irreplaceable fine art is hung a tapestry from Turkey, purchased in a market for pennies. On display, collections of fine Herend china and exquisite Limoges boxes sit alongside some of HomeGoods’ best ceramic offerings. In this home, I’m inspired by textiles and fabrics, different dimensions, mixes of color, history, and artistic focal points; but most of all I am inspired by the intangible feeling of a piece. Designed with frequent guests in mind, we layered furnishings and textiles to create a light and spacious bedroom. The floor to ceiling drapery blocks out light for restful sleep. Featured are a velvet-upholstered bed frame, bedside sconces, custom pillows, contemporary art, painted beams, and light oak flooring.
