Inspiration for a basement remodel in Seattle

Bills sister in law originally called me to enquire about helping Bill move out of his large house of 40 plus years and downsize to an assisted retirement facility. Bill had Parkinson's and was now alone. Everything needed to be weighted or fastened down and no accessible glass or sharp edges could be used. Parkinson's, especially when it progresses causes one to grab onto thing to help steady oneself. Obviously minimall Decor and as we get older, lots of light and large print, as in the wall clock become necessities. Working with Bill was a lot of fun actually, I learned he loved modern clean lines, bold pattern, and boats, the ocean and skiing. It was a complete clean slate to start from. Almost nothing from his old House, with the exception of clothes and photos were coming to his knew forever home. Bill and I stay in touch. I learned a lot and gained a friend for life. The in-law suite kitchen could only be in a small corner of the basement. The kitchen design started with the question: how small can this kitchen be? The compact layout was designed to provide generous counter space, comfortable walking clearances, and abundant storage. The bold colors and fun patterns anchored by the warmth of the dark wood flooring create a happy and invigorating space. SQUARE FEET: 140

parchment paper lamp shades are great because they are lightweight, customization, and they look really cool when lit. lamp shades like these are incredibly popular in traditional, contemporary, and transitional spaces. Fun fact: The lamp shade type pictured here is also seen in season 2 of 'Better Call Saul.' The lamp shades are on ceiling fixtures in the mission style office of Saul's new law firm. They look beautiful there, just like they do anywhere else.

For this young family, home meant more than just a place to live — it needed to bring everyone together, including extended family and even the family dog. Their unfinished basement held the potential to do just that, so Better Builders was brought in to transform it into a warm, functional space that could serve multiple needs. A private bedroom and full bath were created for the mother-in-law, making extended visits comfortable and welcoming. The rest of the basement was designed for fun and connection — a card table for late-night games, and a custom in-home theater where friends and family can gather to watch the big game. No detail was overlooked, not even for the family’s four-legged member. A cozy nook with its own screen for “dog TV” and a convenient doggy door to the backyard were added, ensuring that every member of the household had a place of their own. The finished result is a basement that brings comfort, entertainment, and a touch of whimsy to everyday living.

This custom renovation in the silver beach neighborhood of bellingham washington was a strip down to the bones and redo every inch of the home to install all custom cabinets lvp flooring and custom wood working and custom tile work for these cllients so they could live with there family for fun times.
