This home renovation project is aimed at upgrading various features of the house. It includes the installation of beautiful and striking light fixtures that will add an elegant touch to the ambiance. The project also involves the application of unique and eye-catching wallpaper that will give the walls a fresh and modern look. Additionally, the renovation will feature a sleek and contemporary glass staircase that will not only add to the house's aesthetic appeal but also provide a safe and functional means of accessing the upper floors.

Clients were looking to completely update the main and second levels of their late 80's home to a more modern and open layout with a traditional/craftsman feel. Check out the re-purposed dining room converted to a comfortable seating and bar area as well as the former family room converted to a large and open dining room off the new kitchen. The master suite's floorplan was re-worked to create a large walk-in closet/laundry room combo with a beautiful ensuite bathroom including an extra-large walk-in shower. Also installed were new exterior windows and doors, new interior doors, custom shelving/lockers and updated hardware throughout. Extensive use of wood, tile, custom cabinetry, and various applications of colour created a beautiful, functional, and bright open space for their family.

This bright and modern shower installation in Sunset Beach features large format stone slabs used across the shower walls, creating a clean, seamless look with minimal grout lines. The soft white background and linear veining bring a timeless elegance to the space while enhancing the feeling of openness and light.
The continuous slab application allows the natural movement of the stone to flow uninterrupted, elevating the overall design and giving the shower a refined, spa like atmosphere. Integrated shelving and a frameless glass enclosure maintain a streamlined appearance while maximizing functionality.
Designed with both aesthetics and performance in mind, this shower delivers a durable, low maintenance surface ideal for daily use. The result is a balanced blend of luxury and practicality, perfectly suited for a coastal Sunset Beach home.

This custom wine cellar was designed and built by Vintage Wine Cellars in 2020. We worked 100% remotely with this client to create a beautiful and functional space in unfinished redwood. This wine cellar's wine racking has many versatile features to store different sizes and styles of wines and wine bottles, such as tiered coved trays for large format wine bottles, high reveal display rows, individual bottle storage, Original Wooden Cases, and custom cabinetry.
The unique shape and design of this room required a skilled contractor like Vintage Wine Cellars to design and create a completely custom wine cellar - perfectly fit to the shape and flow of the room.
This client's room was actually huge - but he just didn't have the need to fill it completely with wine (maybe one day!) The front and rear walls are both fitted with custom racking, divided by open space and a large marble countertop. This room would lend itself perfectly to enjoying a nice bottle or three with some friends as there is plenty of space to walk around and mingle, as well as counter space begging to be used to decant those fantastic bottles.
Custom Wine Cellars such as this are more common in traditional style homes, as the decor matches very well with the rustic motif. There are so many different styles and paths you can choose for racking and design nowadays. Traditional Racking such as this can have limitless variations and design features to properly store your unique collection - one of the many reasons we love wooden wine cellars.
Since 1990, Vintage Cellars has designed and built over 2,750 custom wine cellars in a wide range of styles and applications. Vintage Cellars offers a complete turnkey service (if needed), providing initial wine cellar design options, proper room preparation with vapor barrier and insulation, proper wine cellar cooling unit sizing and installation, wine racking fabrication with custom stain and lacquer options done in house, and final professional installation onsite. We can also design and ship the wine racking without install. We regularly work with Interior Designers, Architects, and Home Builders as well and can help carry out visions already in movement too.
Gene Walder, Jake Austad, and the team at Vintage Cellars specialize in Custom Wine Cellar Design and Consultation, Custom Wine Cellar Cooling Systems, Custom Wine Cellar Doors, Wine Cellar Racking, and everything else wine storage related. By working closely with clients, the team at Vintage Cellars is able to craft a wine storage space to match the collectors' vision and style.

Introducing the Maru Residence project in San Jose, California, where we transformed this stunning Cristallo Quartzite countertop into a glowing centerpiece using Nu World’s ultra-thin, edge-lit LED panels.
Custom LED Layout: We created 12 custom panels, including two intricately shaped C‑shaped panels that wrap seamlessly around the window area for uninterrupted illumination.
Material & Illumination: The panels are only 6 mm thick, delivering a sleek edge profile without compromising light output. Set at 5300 K, the panels cast a clean, natural daylight tone across the Cristallo Quartzite.
Dimmable Technology: Integrated with Magnitude M-Series dimmable power supplies, the lighting offers full brightness control via standard wall dimmers—perfect for setting the mood or enhancing the stone’s translucency.
With this collaboration, we’ve brought a timeless, functional work of art to life—one that merges the organic beauty of quartzite with the precision of modern lighting design.
Project Details:
Material: Cristallo Quartzite
Location: San Jose, California
Applications: Kitchen island, perimeter countertops, backsplash, and window surround
Lighting: 6 mm LED panels at 5300 K, fully dimmable

This recently completed wine cellar in Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego, California is great example that small can definitely be beautiful. The homeowners had a vision to redo their older, existing wine cellar - all the meanwhile keeping some of it’s original charm. The back wall of the original wine cellar / wine room was opened up, converting an adjacent closet into an additional room for the space. The rustic and traditional stone work and vertical diamond bins were kept to maintain the old world feel. Rustic works well in the luxury country estates throughout Rancho Santa Fe, San Diego, California. The team at Vintage Cellars created a beautiful and functional wine racking design in Poplar with a custom stain and finish to match the existing wine cellar aesthetics. The wine room also features high reveal display, room for case storage, and tiered coved trays for large format bottles.

For this extensive gut renovation in the East Village, the goal was to inject a small, functional bathroom with high-energy personality and bold spatial defining. We achieved this through a dramatic two-tone, color-blocked tile application, featuring a vibrant ultramarine blue wainscoting that lowers the visual height and frames the space. This is balanced by a zellige-inspired textural white tile above, adding depth and artisanal warmth. The true centerpiece is the custom, coral-pink concrete vanity, which offers a soft, sculptural contrast to the angular geometry. Layered with mustard yellow and white striped textiles and custom, patterned rugs, the resulting space feels playful, confident, and deeply reflective of its storied neighborhood.

A 2,133-square-foot interior commercial alteration converting a former indoor garden center into a community pantry and storage area for Zion Church in Lanham, Maryland.
The project required a Prince George's County commercial interior permit, full multi-discipline construction documents (architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical), and an architect's seal under Maryland law. Maincare prepared the complete ten-sheet drawing set in-house, coordinated review and seal with our Maryland-licensed partner architect, and acted as named applicant of record before Prince George's County Department of Permitting, Inspections and Enforcement.
Prince George's County Permit P35342-2023-CI issued January 2024. The space preserves the existing exposed roof trusses as a design feature, pairs polished concrete flooring with commercial-grade refrigeration along the perimeter wall, and brings natural light from north-facing clerestory windows into a clean, functional pantry environment.

Although our empty nester clients were still enjoying their custom home they had lived in for nearly 30 years, they had outgrown their once state-of-the-art 1980s master bathroom.
Our master bathroom facelift transformed a bathroom with carpet, wallpaper, glass block tiles, and a 30 year old Jacuzzi. It transformed into a clean lined, yet warm and inviting space that still worked with the home’s contemporary architecture. Our selections started with a natural stone for the vanity, and selecting Sapele wood cabinetry for both it’s textured lines and color qualities. Our next step was our hardware and fittings – knowing we wanted both function and visual appeal.
We relocated the double vanities at the center of the room, and installed the shower on the other side of the wall creating a circular passage for flow. The integrated sinks make a statement at the vanity – as well as the large apron of stone surrounding the face of the cabinetry. Wall mount faucets, and matte textured tile running vertically complete the look.
The free-standing vessel tub leaves a lasting impression against the windows. Corner cabinetry and shelves add both storage and visual appeal. Tucked in the corner an upholstered bench, yet more storage and built in jewelry organization.
Large format porcelain floor tiles were installed with a smooth skimstone application on the shower floor. Amenities and special touches in the bathroom include radiant heating, LED lighting under the cabinets and behind the vanity mirrors, a large format thermostat controlled towel bar, a linear drain in the shower, and a wall mounted energy efficient toilet.

Patio in Bronco | Key Feature: A Scottsdale new-build rooted in sculptural modernism, Bronco Revival balances bold black-and-white contrast with organic textures, natural wood elements, and statement lighting. As a groundbreaking “Live Lab” designer residence, it’s a first-of-its-kind space where luxury furnishings are tested in real-world conditions before being introduced into high-profile client homes.
Challenge: Because Bronco Revival was the designer’s personal residence, the project carried a unique level of pressure and intention. The challenge was creating a Scottsdale new-build that felt elevated and editorial while still functioning as a true family home. Every selection had to balance bold sculptural modernism (high contrast, statement lighting, architectural furnishings) with durability, comfort, and day-to-day livability. In addition, the home served as a “Live Lab,” meaning new vendors, materials, and luxury furnishings needed to be tested in real-life conditions before being trusted for future high-profile client projects.
Solution: We approached the project with a highly curated, test-and-refine design strategy, treating each space as both a finished interior and a real-world evaluation environment. Key furnishings, textiles, and materials were selected to support the modern organic vision while also standing up to the demands of everyday family life. We worked through selections intentionally, layering in bold contrast, natural woods, and sculptural statement pieces, while prioritizing performance materials, pet-friendly durability, and timeless foundational elements. By using the home as a lived-in showroom, we were able to validate what truly performs beautifully, refine our vendor relationships, and confidently carry those proven selections into future client designs.

The stately entrance is fueled by the column’s, welcoming any guest to the future of custom estates that integrate modern features while keeping one foot in the past. The kitchen is beautifully appointed with white and grey cabinets that are overlaid with white marble countertops which in turn are contrasted by the cool earth tones of the wood floors. The coffered ceilings, Armoire style refrigerator and a custom gunmetal hood lend sophistication to the kitchen. The high ceilings in the living room are accentuated by deep brown high beams that complement the cool tones of the living area. An antique wooden barn door tucked in the corner of the living room leads to a mancave with a bespoke bar and a lounge area, reminiscent of a speakeasy from another era. In a nod to the modern practicality that is desired by families with young kids, a massive laundry room also functions as a mudroom with locker style cubbies and a homework and crafts area for kids. With a simple application for traditional finishes on a contemporary door style, or the use of more uncluttered design it is possible to create a relaxed, yet sophisticated kitchen that provides a perfect gathering place.
A blend of the clean line doors and soft edge cabinet fronts were the typical choice in the creation of this classic space that is not only functional and practical but beautiful. The island is the central focal point of the kitchen, with a beautifully crafted two-layer walnut butcher block with a slight contrast to the dark granite countertop. The detailing on the legs of the island gives the space a more traditional look.
The design concept perfectly blends with the classic feel of their home but one that was out of the box and forward thinking. This was done through the use of different materials and unconventional colour scheme. The grey-taupe cabinetry colour gives the homeowners the warm feel they were hoping for, while still maintaining a classic timeless look.
