With a focus on creating a calm, inviting atmosphere, this bathroom is designed to offer a relaxing space where you can unwind. Its modern yet timeless design ensures it will remain both stylish and functional for years to come. Premium RTA Kitchen Cabinets by The Cabination have inspired this design philosophy, offering a perfect blend of style and functionality for every corner of the home.

This kitchen remodel was designed to make a statement—balancing bold character with refined craftsmanship to create a space that’s both highly functional and visually unforgettable.
At the heart of the design is a striking contrast palette. Crisp white perimeter cabinetry keeps the space bright and open, while rich black lower cabinets and a substantial island ground the room with depth and sophistication. The oversized island serves as both a functional workspace and a central gathering point, topped with a dramatic stone surface that adds movement and texture.
The flooring plays a defining role in the overall aesthetic. A custom black-and-white patterned tile layout introduces energy and personality, transforming the kitchen into a true design centerpiece while maintaining a timeless appeal. This bold foundation is thoughtfully balanced by clean lines, classic shaker cabinetry, and elegant hardware selections.
Functionality was a key driver throughout the project. The layout maximizes workflow efficiency with dedicated zones for cooking, prep, and cleanup. A professional-grade range anchors the island, while the farmhouse sink positioned beneath large windows brings in natural light and enhances the everyday experience. Custom storage solutions—including extended cabinetry, integrated dish storage, and built-in appliance areas—ensure everything has its place without compromising the clean aesthetic.
Lighting was carefully layered to elevate both form and function. Statement pendant fixtures above the island add architectural interest, while recessed lighting provides consistent illumination throughout the space.
The result is a kitchen that feels both elevated and livable—where bold design choices meet practical everyday use. It’s a space designed not just to cook in, but to gather, entertain, and truly enjoy.

This is a redesigned studio apartment we recently renovated. The goal was to increase function and increase the feeling of separate functions. Luckily, this studio is of an impressive size and we were able to increase function via a large kitchen, dining area, home office, and bedroom area.
Each separated area serves its own purpose and gives the feeling that the apartment, though small, has plenty of space for differing tasks. The result is a highly functioning studio that doesn’t feel cramped, but rather like a one bed apartment.

THE SETUP
Our journey began with a familiar face — Alicia had previously transformed the client’s mother’s home, establishing a trusted relationship that naturally led to this personal project. The client desired a kitchen that truly reflected her own style while facilitating seamless entertaining.
Design Vision:
The original kitchen, segregated from the dining area by a wall, hindered the flow of interaction and space. Our client envisioned a unified area where she could engage with guests in both the kitchen and dining room simultaneously. Moreover, the space lacked a central island, relying instead on a floorplan anchored by cabinetry in a u-shaped layout.
Design Objectives:
Open up the space for an airy design conducive to entertaining large gatherings
Modernize the kitchen to be both stylish and functional
Integrate the design with the home’s new black-framed windows and doors
Relocate the cooktop to a central position to enhance usability and interaction
Design Challenges:
Removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room would necessitate the rerouting of existing HVAC ductwork that services the upper floor
Limited pantry space in the existing kitchen
The existing u-shaped layout of the kitchen restricted functionality and storage options
Insufficient space for wine storage
The client desired a raised-furniture look for the island, but without showing a new downdraft vent
THE RENEWED SPACE
Design Solutions:
We added a second HVAC unit to the upper floor and rerouted the existing ductwork in that wall
Created tall pantry pullouts on either side of the fridge to maximize dry goods storage
Designed a long island to facilitate cooking stations and dining moments
Created a stylish open display cabinet for wine
Engineered a dual-design island with a footed floating aesthetic on one side, and a full floor reach on the other to conceal the new downdraft ventilation.
Paired with the newly opened adjacent dining room featuring a wet bar, the kitchen has become a stylish and highly functional space for cooking and entertaining. Following a large baby shower hosted by the client (which seamlessly accommodated an 80-person gathering!), it is clear that the new design not only meets but exceeds the needs for hosting and everyday living. This project was a harmonious blend of the client’s vision and Alicia’s innovative design solutions, resulting in a kitchen that truly embodies personalized elegance and functionality.

This custom laundry room remodel in Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania showcases a thoughtful balance of functionality, craftsmanship, and timeless design. Completed by Craftsworth Construction, this project was designed to transform an ordinary laundry space into a highly functional and visually striking room that complements the character of this Chester County home.
The design centers around custom green shaker cabinetry, creating a bold yet classic foundation for the room. The cabinetry provides extensive storage for household essentials while maintaining a clean, tailored look that fits beautifully within the home’s transitional style. Tall pantry-style cabinets maximize vertical storage, while built-in base cabinets and open shelving add both practicality and visual interest.
A standout feature of this Chadds Ford laundry room renovation is the full-height decorative patterned tile backsplash, which wraps the entire workspace. The intricate tile pattern introduces texture and warmth, pairing perfectly with the deep green cabinetry and adding a handcrafted aesthetic often seen in high-end homes throughout Chester County and the Main Line.
Durable quartz countertops provide generous folding and workspace areas while maintaining a bright, clean surface that contrasts elegantly with the cabinetry. The integrated sink with a warm copper faucet fixture adds a refined accent while also improving functionality for handwashing, stain treatment, and everyday utility.
This remodel also incorporates premium appliances, including a stainless steel washer and dryer along with a built-in beverage refrigerator that adds convenience and flexibility to the space. The beverage fridge is ideal for entertaining or keeping drinks accessible while working around the home.
The flooring continues the tile motif with a patterned porcelain tile floor, tying the entire design together while offering exceptional durability and easy maintenance. Recessed lighting throughout the room ensures the space remains bright and inviting, while under-cabinet lighting enhances both visibility and ambiance.
Designed with both beauty and efficiency in mind, this custom laundry room renovation in Chadds Ford PA demonstrates how thoughtful planning and quality craftsmanship can elevate even the most practical rooms in a home. From the custom cabinetry to the detailed tile work, every element was carefully selected to create a space that feels both luxurious and highly functional.

This interior design project involved a comprehensive renovation that completely transformed the appearance and features of an apartment located on the Costa del Sol, Spain. The goal was to modernize the space, enhance functionality, and create a more sophisticated and welcoming atmosphere, aligned with a Nordic style that emphasizes warmth and natural elements.
### Space Redistribution:
Originally, the apartment had only one bedroom and one bathroom. The first phase of the renovation involved redistributing the space to add a second bathroom, with one of them becoming an en-suite connected directly to the master bedroom. This addition significantly improved comfort and privacy, allowing each bedroom to have its own bathroom. Additionally, a new laundry area was created, providing a dedicated space for the washing machine, water heater, and cleaning supplies, optimizing the home's functionality without compromising aesthetics.
### Flooring and Visual Continuity:
The old dark, square-patterned flooring was replaced with porcelain tiles that mimic the texture and tone of wood. This new material was extended from the interior to the terrace, creating a sense of continuity and spaciousness. This change not only modernized the apartment's appearance but also reinforced the visual harmony between indoor and outdoor spaces, inviting residents to enjoy the natural light and views offered by the coastal location.
### Bathroom Renovation:
With the addition of a second bathroom, both spaces were completely renovated. The old tiles and bathtub were removed in favor of a more modern and functional design. Light-colored ceramics reflecting the Nordic style were installed, along with contemporary fixtures and clean lines. The en-suite bathroom was designed to offer an intimate and luxurious space, while the second bathroom, though equally modern, provides comfort and accessibility for the rest of the home.
### Style and Décor:
The predominant Nordic style was reflected in the choice of materials and colors. The walls were adorned with wooden slats, a detail that adds texture and warmth to the space, while the décor focused on natural elements like wood, linen, and plant fibers, creating a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Neutral tones and simple lines prevail, achieving a perfect balance between sophistication and comfort.
### Final Result:
The result is an apartment that not only looks more spacious and modern but also exudes a sense of tranquility and comfort. The renovation has transformed the space into a home that invites you to enjoy sunny days on the Costa del Sol, with a terrace seamlessly integrated with the interior and living spaces that reflect a sophisticated, functional, and inviting lifestyle.

• Design Elements: To achieve a transitional look, the client selected two-toned shaker-style cabinetry that blends timeless charm with contemporary appeal. Navy blue base cabinets anchor the design with rich contrast, while light wood wall cabinets and a coordinating range hood add warmth and balance. Modern elements were introduced through sleek quartz countertops, which extend seamlessly up the wall as a full-height backsplash and waterfall gracefully down the side of the peninsula. This peninsula also provides integrated seating, creating a functional and stylish space for dining and entertaining.
• Functional Improvements: On the wall opposite of the kitchen, additional cabinetry was incorporated to maximize storage and create a dedicated coffee bar. Tall pantry cabinets were installed to provide more storage, while upper cabinets with glass doors introduced both function and style. The glass-front cabinetry features a matching wood interior and integrated lighting, offering a warm glow that highlights the displayed glassware and adds a touch of elegance to the overall design.

Our approach to the dining room wall was a key decision for the entire project. The wall was load bearing and the homeowners considered only removing half of it. In the end, keeping the overall open concept design was important to the homeowners, therefore we installed a load bearing beam in the ceiling. The beam was finished with drywall to be cohesive so it looked like it was a part of the original design. Now that the kitchen and dining room were open, paint colors were used to designate the spaces and create visual boundaries. This made each area feel like it’s its own space without using any structures.
The original L-shaped kitchen was cut short because of bay windows that overlooked the backyard patio. These windows were lost in the space and not functional; they were replaced with double French doors leading onto the patio. A brick layer was brought in to patch up the window swap and now it looks like the French doors always existed. New crown molding was installed throughout and painted to match the kitchen cabinets.
This window/door replacement allowed for a large pantry cabinet to be installed next to the refrigerator which was not in the old cabinet configuration. The replaced perimeter cabinets host custom storage solutions, like a mixer stand, spice organization, recycling center and functional corner cabinet with pull out shelving. The perimeter kitchen cabinets are painted with a glaze and the island is a cherry stain with glaze to amplify the raised panel door style.
We tripled the size of the kitchen island to expand countertop space. It seats five people and hosts charging stations for the family’s busy lifestyle. It was important that the cooktop in the island had a built in downdraft system because the homeowners did not want a ventilation hood in the center of the kitchen because it would obscure the open concept design.
The countertops are quartz and feature an under mount granite composite kitchen sink with a low divide center. The kitchen faucet, which features hands free and touch technology, and an instant hot water dispenser were added for convenience because of the homeowners’ busy lifestyle. The backsplash is a favorite, with a teal and red glass mosaic basket weave design. It stands out and holds its own among the expansive kitchen cabinets.
All recessed, under cabinet and decorative lights were installed on dimmer switches to allow the homeowners to adjust the lighting in each space of the project. All exterior and interior door hardware, hinges and knobs were replaced in oil rubbed bronze to match the dark stain throughout the space. The entire first floor remodel project uses 12x24 ceramic tile laid in a herringbone pattern. Since tile is typically cold, the flooring was also heated from below. This will also help with the homeowners’ original heating issues.
When accessorizing the kitchen, we used functional, everyday items the homeowners use like cutting boards, canisters for dry goods and place settings on the island. Ultimately, this project transformed their small, outdated kitchen into an expansive and functional workspace.

This Frederick-area kitchen remodel by Talon Construction Inc. is a standout example of how thoughtful design and craftsmanship can completely transform the heart of a home. Blending modern functionality with timeless finishes, the space is both visually striking and highly livable tailored to how homeowners cook, gather, and entertain.
At the center of the design is a large, statement island topped with marble-inspired quartz. Its expansive surface serves as a multifunctional hub for meal prep, casual dining, and socializing. The waterfall-like veining carries seamlessly into the full-height backsplash, creating a cohesive and elevated aesthetic that feels custom and refined.
The cabinetry palette strikes a perfect balance between contrast and warmth. Crisp white shaker-style upper cabinets keep the perimeter light and open, while soft gray base cabinetry and a matching island ground the space with subtle depth. Matte black hardware adds a clean, contemporary edge, complementing the overall modern farmhouse feel.
Functionality is just as impressive as the visual appeal. The layout maximizes storage and efficiency with a mix of deep drawers, roll-out organizers, and integrated appliance solutions. A custom pantry provides dedicated storage with built-in shelving and drawer systems, making organization effortless and accessible. The island itself incorporates clever storage features, including pull-outs and utensil organization, ensuring everything has its place.
High-end appliances are thoughtfully integrated to maintain clean sightlines, including stainless steel wall ovens and a counter-depth refrigerator. This approach enhances both usability and the open, uncluttered feel of the kitchen.
Lighting plays a key role in defining the space. Layered illumination from recessed ceiling lights to decorative glass pendant fixtures over the island. This adds both function and ambiance. Under-cabinet lighting highlights the backsplash while improving task visibility, and natural light from nearby windows further enhances the bright, airy atmosphere.
Warm-toned luxury vinyl plank flooring ties everything together, introducing texture and durability while softening the overall palette. The result is a kitchen that feels inviting, comfortable, and built for everyday life.
Ultimately, this remodel reflects a design-build approach that prioritizes both beauty and practicality. Every detail, from the cabinetry and countertops to the lighting and storage has been carefully considered to create a space that not only looks exceptional but functions seamlessly for years to come.

In this home, even the most functional spaces are treated with the same design integrity as the main living areas. This utility room is a masterclass in minimalist elegance, anchored by sleek matte-finish cabinetry in a deep charcoal tone. The handleless design keeps the lines uninterrupted, creating a calm and streamlined aesthetic that makes the space feel larger and more refined.
A continuous countertop offers generous workspace for a range of household tasks, while the integrated sink ensures convenience without sacrificing style. The upper cabinets provide ample closed storage, allowing supplies and equipment to be tucked neatly out of sight. Under-cabinet lighting casts a soft, even glow over the work surface, making the space practical at any time of day.
The combination of the cabinetry's rich tone and the light oak flooring strikes a pleasing visual balance—warm yet modern. Every inch of this room is designed for efficiency, with thoughtful proportions that ensure it functions flawlessly for laundry, prep work, or overflow kitchen storage.
By elevating utility to an art form, this space proves that functionality and beauty aren't mutually exclusive—they can coexist in perfect harmony.

From the custom cabinetry to the detailed tile work, every element was carefully selected to create a space that feels both luxurious and highly functional.

Achieve Ultimate Flexibility with Tilt Turn Windows
Tilt turn windows feature two opening functions controlled by a single handle. The first function features the opening at the top, in a tilted position, that allows for a softer ventilation flow and enhanced protection from the elements during inclement weather. The second function is achieved by a turn of the same handle that allows the entire window to open inwardly. This dual-opening functionality gives homeowners full control of their home ventilation with a versatile option that can be leveraged throughout the seasons. In addition, both sides of the glass can be easily cleaned indoors and are easily operated with a single hand.

The Setup
The homeowners of this Barrington Hills residence approached Drury Design with a clear vision: transform their existing kitchen into a space that would better serve their active family of four. With two young children who are homeschooled and love to bake with their mom, plus two dogs, this kitchen needed to function as the true heart of the home.
The existing kitchen was functional but didn’t maximize the potential of the beautiful natural light and scenic views available through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The space was locked between the dining room and family room, which limited structural modifications, but the homeowners wanted to create a more family-friendly environment that would complement the warm walnut built-ins and furnishings in the adjacent dining room while staying true to the home’s overall aesthetic.
Design Objectives:
Create a highly functional workspace that accommodates multiple family members cooking and gathering simultaneously
Maximize the connection to the beautiful outdoor scenery and natural light through thoughtful design choices
Establish a cohesive color palette that complements the existing walnut elements in the adjacent dining room without becoming too tone-on-tone (aka “matchy matchy”)
Improve the seating arrangement to take advantage of the stunning views (rather than facing away from the windows)
Work within the existing architectural constraints, including a curved soffit that could not be removed
Increase storage capacity while maintaining clean, uncluttered sightlines throughout the space
Design Challenges:
The curved soffit presented a design dilemma of whether to echo the curve throughout the kitchen or work with it in a more subtle way
The relatively low ceiling height required careful consideration to avoid making the space feel cramped or cave-like
The existing hardwood floor could not be refinished, which meant the new kitchen footprint had to match or exceed the original layout exactly
Finding the right balance of warm and neutral tones to complement both the existing walnut elements nearby and the natural outdoor views proved challenging
The refrigerator placement was constrained by door swing requirements, which affected the entire layout and prevented centering the sink on the back wall
Rethinking the original seating, which faced inward toward the kitchen (turning backs to the beautiful windows and outdoor views)
Pendant lighting from the previous kitchen obstructed views to the outdoors despite the abundant natural light available
The Renewed Space
Design Solutions:
The curved soffit was embraced subtly through the full slab backsplash, which echoes the curve without requiring curved cabinetry or architectural elements that might feel forced
Low ceiling challenges were addressed by using lighter painted cabinets for some tall elements, including the double oven, pantries, and refrigerator area, creating an airy feel while reserving the darker stained walnut for the center section and island
The floor constraint was managed by designing the new layout to cover all previously unfinished areas while maintaining the exact footprint, with only minor touch-ups needed in a few areas
The color palette balances warm walnut stain (harmonizing with the dining room built-ins) with soft, neutral painted cabinets – avoiding stark white that wouldn’t complement the home’s warm aesthetic
Refrigerator placement was optimized with a slim pullout pantry to the left, allowing proper door clearance while maintaining the desired layout flow and enabling the main pantry to be positioned adjacently
The seating was completely reimagined with a built-in banquette facing the windows, allowing diners to enjoy the outdoor views while providing flexible seating for two to four people
Decorative pendant lighting was eliminated in favor of recessed can lights, preserving the unobstructed views to the beautiful outdoor scenery
This kitchen transformation demonstrates how thoughtful design can dramatically improve functionality for a busy family while honoring existing architectural elements. The children immediately began cooking and baking with their mother in the new space, and the window-facing banquette has become a favorite gathering spot where the family can enjoy both meals and the beautiful outdoor views.

The heart of this home lies in the kitchen, where we embarked on a design endeavor that would leave anyone speechless. By opening up the main kitchen wall, we created a magnificent window system that floods the space with natural light and offers a breathtaking view of the picturesque surroundings. Suspended from the ceiling, a steel-framed marble vent hood floats a few inches from the window, showcasing a mesmerizing Lilac Marble. The same marble is skillfully applied to the backsplash and island, featuring a bold combination of color and pattern that exudes elegance.
Adding to the kitchen's allure is the Italian range, which not only serves as a showstopper but offers robust culinary features for even the savviest of cooks. However, the true masterpiece of the kitchen lies in the honed reeded marble-faced island. Each marble strip was meticulously cut and crafted by artisans to achieve a half-rounded profile, resulting in an island that is nothing short of breathtaking. This intricate process took several months, but the end result speaks for itself.
To complement the grandeur of the kitchen, we designed a combination of stain-grade and paint-grade cabinets in a thin raised panel door style. This choice adds an elegant yet simple look to the overall design. Inside each cabinet and drawer, custom interiors were meticulously designed to provide maximum functionality and organization for the day-to-day cooking activities. A vintage Turkish runner dating back to the 1960s, evokes a sense of history and character.
The breakfast nook boasts a stunning, vivid, and colorful artwork created by one of Dallas' top artist, Kyle Steed, who is revered for his mastery of his craft. Some of our favorite art pieces from the inspiring Haylee Yale grace the coffee station and media console, adding the perfect moment to pause and loose yourself in the story of her art.
The project extends beyond the kitchen into the living room, where the family's changing needs and growing children demanded a new design approach. Accommodating their new lifestyle, we incorporated a large sectional for family bonding moments while watching TV. The living room now boasts bolder colors, striking artwork a coffered accent wall, and cayenne velvet curtains that create an inviting atmosphere. Completing the room is a custom 22' x 15' rug, adding warmth and comfort to the space. A hidden coat closet door integrated into the feature wall adds an element of surprise and functionality.
This project is not just about aesthetics; it's about pushing the boundaries of design and showcasing the possibilities. By curating an out-of-the-box approach, we bring texture and depth to the space, employing different materials and original applications. The layered design achieved through repeated use of the same material in various forms, shapes, and locations demonstrates that unexpected elements can create breathtaking results.
The reason behind this redesign and remodel was the homeowners' desire to have a kitchen that not only provided functionality but also served as a beautiful backdrop to their cherished family moments. The previous kitchen lacked the "wow" factor they desired, prompting them to seek our expertise in creating a space that would be a source of joy and inspiration.
Inspired by well-curated European vignettes, sculptural elements, clean lines, and a natural color scheme with pops of color, this design reflects an elegant organic modern style. Mixing metals, contrasting textures, and utilizing clean lines were key elements in achieving the desired aesthetic. The living room introduces bolder moments and a carefully chosen color scheme that adds character and personality.
The client's must-haves were clear: they wanted a show stopping centerpiece for their home, enhanced natural light in the kitchen, and a design that reflected their family's dynamic. With the transformation of the range wall into a wall of windows, we fulfilled their desire for abundant natural light and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Our favorite rooms and design elements are numerous, but the kitchen remains a standout feature. The painstaking process of hand-cutting and crafting each reeded panel in the island to match the marble's veining resulted in a labor of love that emanates warmth and hospitality to all who enter.
In conclusion, this tastefully lux project in University Park, Dallas is an extraordinary example of a full gut remodel that has surpassed all expectations. The meticulous attention to detail, the masterful use of materials, and the seamless blend of functionality and aesthetics create an unforgettable space. It serves as a testament to the power of design and the transformative impact it can have on a home and its inhabitants.
Project by Texas' Urbanology Designs. Their North Richland Hills-based interior design studio serves Dallas, Highland Park, University Park, Fort Worth, and upscale clients nationwide.

Originally from Hawaii, my clients wanted to incorporate the warmth and color of the islands into their California ranch home. Their requests:
• Comfortable, serene, uncluttered design
• Natural elements
• Kitchen more open to dining
• Arrangement to accommodate new flat-screen TV viewing
Hosting constant visitors, my clients live in their kitchen and enjoy cooking.
For Hawaiian colors, I used green quartz, glass tile and counters, iroko flooring, hemlock cabinets, and an unusual slate limestone.
To create a lighter, more welcoming space I removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen and increased the entry wall length to create a better kitchen/dining/entry relationship. I added a wall between the family room and kitchen to house tall kitchen elements on one side and TV equipment on the other, as well as create a natural transition for the ceiling height changes.
Features:
• Ventilated drawers
• Composting sink
• Energy-efficient lighting
• Silent hood and dishwasher
When it came to their master bath, my clients requested:
• Spa-feeling
• Shower for two
• Functional makeup area
• Two sinks
• Linen storage
• Walk-in closet
• Separate toilet compartment
• Door to backyard for pool access.
I rearranged the space for convenience and function and created an open shower with double rain and hand-showers, a shallow makeup counter (easy to get close to the mirror), plentiful storage, and seating.
Shades of blue and green create a sense of “spa”. Blended textures of honed limestone countertops, slate, glass tile, large-format and mosaic porcelain tile, glass pebbles, granite tile, and ceramic tiles are earthy yet refined. Horizontal patterns create serenity.
Storage:
• Tall louvered linen cabinet
• Flush medicine cabinets
• His-and-her pullouts at each end of the vanity
• Multiple shower niches
• Function-packed walk-in closet
• Toilet roll cabinet in toilet vestibule
• Bedroom armoire
Function:
• Seating in shower
• Seating in main bath
• Convenient towel bars
• Silent, powerful vent fans
• Good lighting
• Textured glass windows add light and privacy.
