Designed by Akram Aljahmi of Reico Kitchen & Bath in King of Prussia, PA in collaboration with Property Remodeling Group, this transitional inspired kitchen design features white and grey finishes complemented by a bold splash of blue tile. The kitchen design features Merillat Classic kitchen cabinets in Portrait door style with 5 piece drawer head in 2 finishes. The wall cabinets features a painted white Cotton finish and the base cabinets feature a painted grey Graphite finish. Kitchen countertops are engineered quartz in the color Carrera Marmi from Q by MSI. The kitchen also features a stunning blue herringbone tile back splash with 3x10 tiles. According to the client, "Akram solved a fundamental function problem that I could not see a solution for. His re-imagining of how the main floor of our home could function was a dramatic shift that I can't wait to experience as part of day-to-day life. It all started with a sliding barn door and a bold and simple thought: what if we painted it “Geranium”? From there, a neutral-meets-ethnic loft interior unfolded at Society Hill Tower, perched high above the city of Philadelphia. Our client brought us in as interior designers to collaborate with Ambit Architecture, who helped her merge two adjacent apartment units into one, large, open floor-plan unit. One of the challenges on a project like this is the very openness of the space – there are many furniture selections visually connected to one another, and connected to the kitchen, with its bold pops of yellow. So it was important to establish some fundamentally neutral tones that would provide unity from one furniture grouping to the next. We also wanted to make sure that the panoramic views of the city would remain an important focus of the space. Therefore, in the living and dining room, we chose large scale furniture pieces made from rustic or reclaimed wood, while upholstered pieces are covered in crisp linen or neutral leather. Then, we added layer upon layer of cheery textiles and prints. We started with jute and color reform wool rugs. Then, we added an ottoman also wrapped in an ethnic rug, kilim pillows, and velvety throws. The result is a space that is unified, lively, yet calm. Photos by Ambit Architecture

We made exceptional use of this large living room by creating two areas for conversational grouping. With back-to-back seating, we gave one side of the space a large and comfortable sofa and sofa chairs while the other side had two leather armchairs facing the modern fireplace. Warm browns and grays are the fundamental color palette in this space, which we then lightened up with vivid yellows and oranges through the decor and accessories. To move or not to move — that is the question many homeowners are asking as they consider whether to upgrade their existing residence or pack up and find a new one. It was that exact question that was discussed by this homeowner as they evaluated their traditional two-story home in Fontana. Built in 2001, this cedar-sided 3,500-square-foot home features five bedrooms, three-and-a-half baths, and a full basement. During renovation projects like the these, we have the ability and flexibility to work across many different architectural styles. Our main focus is to work with clients to get a good sense of their personal style, what features they’re most attracted to, and balance those with the fundamental principles of good design – function, balance, proportion and flow – to make sure that they have a unified vision for the home. After extensive demolition of the kitchen, family room, master bath, laundry room, powder room, master bedroom and adjacent hallways, we began transforming the space into one that the family could truly utilize in an all new way. In addition to installing structural beams to support the second floor loads and pushing out two non-structural walls in order to enlarge the master bath, the renovation team installed a new kitchen island, added quartz countertops in the kitchen and master bath plus installed new Kohler sinks, toilets and accessories in the kitchen and bath. Underscoring the belief that an open great room should offer a welcoming environment, the renovated space now offers an inviting haven for the homeowners and their guests. The open family room boasts a new gas fireplace complete with custom surround, mantel and bookcases. Underfoot, hardwood floors featuring American walnut add warmth to the home’s interior. Continuity is achieved throughout the first floor by accenting posts, handrails and spindles all with the same rich walnut.

The elegant, simply unique home features a fresh approach to mountain living. Consistency and continuity are the fundamental features of this special home. Certain elements run throughout the interior; engineered wide oak flooring, white horizontal plank paneling, and gray fresh split stone adorn the walls and limestone countertops in various rooms. However, as your eye follows the quiet, clean lines they are intermittently interrupted with a dash of splash here and a pop of color there that are placed precisely in the right spots. Not only do the homeowners have a grill with exceptional cooking capacity for large and small gatherings, the comprehensive design also eliminates the need to leave the party. This is made possible with the integration of fundamental kitchen components such as integrated storage cabinets, dual refrigerator drawers, an ice maker and waste and recycling units.

The room follows a palette with a light and neutral base – from white to gray, through off-white, with shades of blue extracted from the tiles (especially the painting by the artist Sergio Lucena, above the bed) and sprinkles. of fresh green, present in works of art, books covered with fabric and decorative objects. Another highlight of the room is the TV that displays a digital work of art when turned off, thus becoming an integral part of the decor. Finally, various flower arrangements, from lavender to rosemary, exude a unique scent in the environment, increasing the feeling of well-being and relaxation so fundamental in bedrooms.”

APARTMENT | BA Gray, wood, and blue are the main colors in the apartment redesign located in Copacabana in Rio de Janeiro. The owner wanted to create a modern atmosphere and have a large room with access to the kitchen, but without it being an open concept completely. Our solution was to create large wooden sliding doors that allowed immediate access to the main living and dining area as well as access to the kitchen. This helped achieve a fully-integrated look between the two spaces, yet can both be sealed off to create a more intimate and private space. The color palette matches with the personality of the owner, and blue was the fundamental color. We chose blue to add a dynamic life to the space as well as tie into the existing art pieces the owner already had.

The design intent of this kitchen space was to pay homage to Brutalist architecture, while still including contemporary design elements, in this compact modern infill project. The use of clean lines and stark geometric shapes was fundamental, in order to evoke the modularity and functionality that Brutalism is known for. Preserving the feeling of a livable, inviting space was also very important, as the kitchen is open to the rest of the main floor living area. A combination of materials, in both warm and cool tones, helped to integrate the rougher construction materials traditionally found in Brutalist architecture. The colour and texture of the built-up concrete counter on the island contrasts beautifully with that of the cantilevered walnut butcher block. The subtlety of the glass base in the seating area allows the lines of the countertops to really be the focus of the room.

In this whole-house renovation we transformed a dark ‘50s ranch house into a bright, open, contemporary home with a breathtaking 180-degree view. The owner sought a peaceful, sanctuary-like environment where she could relax and work from home, as well as an easy place to entertain guests. Following these fundamental criteria, we approached the project with a simple design and select palette of natural materials. Outdoor living areas are a fundamental part of this design and cover the entire backside of the house. A spacious great room provides unobstructed views of the outdoor space containing a wood-burning fireplace and kitchen, accessed by a 16′ pocketing glass door system. The kitchen features double islands and a 60″ wide by 68″ high Gas Strut Window by ActivWall. The window opens up and out on sturdy struts to create a serving bar for the outdoor space. It is convenient for passing food between the kitchen and grill, and the extended countertop can also be used as a serving area.
