This handcrafted Maple hardwood bench combines timeless craftsmanship with meaningful design. Built from solid USA-sourced Maple, this custom bench features brushed nickel base wraps, custom cross inlays, and a warm stain that highlights the natural beauty of the wood. Whether placed alongside a dining table, in an entryway, at the foot of a bed, or in a commercial waiting area, this versatile bench is designed to provide lasting beauty, comfort, and functionality for generations. This particular bench was custom built for our client in Howell, Michigan, to perfectly complement the existing hardwood tabletops throughout her home. The Maple was carefully stained to create a cohesive look, allowing every handcrafted piece to feel connected while still celebrating the unique character found in natural hardwood. The details are what truly make this piece one of a kind. Brushed nickel base wraps provide a clean, contemporary contrast against the warmth of the Maple, while custom cross inlays incorporated into each bench end create a meaningful personal touch designed specifically for our client. Every design decision—from the wood species and finish color to the metal accents and custom inlays—was intentionally selected to create a piece that reflects both the home and the family it was built for. Unlike mass-produced benches made from particle board or veneer, our furniture is handcrafted from solid hardwood that's built to withstand everyday life and become an heirloom for future generations. Every board is carefully selected for its character, durability, and beauty, ensuring no two benches are ever exactly alike.

Three generations have shared summers together at this very special place called Merry Hill. Recognizing their shifting needs and looking forward to future generations, the clients wanted to both drastically change their beloved family lake house and yet not change it at all. This new iteration of the cottage is nearly double the size of the original, transforming their summer home into a four-season getaway while evoking the character of the original house in a new and fresh way. The main cottage, boathouse and sleeping cabin all have broad, shallow-pitched roofs with generous overhangs that derive their form from their mid-century predecessor. Expansive openings, wood interiors, operable clerestories, and local stone double-stacked fireplaces are all familiar to the clients but rendered in different scales. Designed for resiliency and sustainability, the new retreat employs an integrated generator, geothermal heating, solar arrays, and battery storage as well as incorporates passive strategies such as sun orientation, earth sheltering, and cross ventilation to keep the interior at an ideal temperature all year round. The resulting form, detailing, and material selections of this new build allows for the seamless continuity of memory-making for a sentimental family.

The client’s vision for this house and boathouse at Horning on the Norfolk Broads was to provide an exemplary building that is sustainable and graceful in design, complementing and enhancing the setting and providing a legacy for future generations. The extensive use of wood cladding and decking were key elements of LSI architects’ design. However, given that ‘The Haven’ is in a flood zone, surrounded on three sides by water and constantly exposed to a high moisture content in the air, LSI needed to find a wood that they could be confident would deliver durability, dimensional stability and aesthetics. Accoya wood presented the perfect answer. Accoya, supplied by International Timber, was used for cladding and decking. The glue laminated Accoya wood for the curved rear screen was manufactured by Newnham & Abel Ltd and hand finished with a protective merbau-coloured coating from WoodGuard by Guard Industrie. The same finish was factory applied to the cladding.

This neglected farmhouse has found a new family. Together we will undo the exterior muddling of the past, restore the interior spaces and create an amazing home for future generations to enjoy. We are converting a screen porch into a much-needed mudroom, air sealing the walls, increasing the insulation throughout, using resilient materials, and restoring the trim with classic details. She is simply lovely and would make a great gift for that special someone . Future generations will cherish her beauty. She is sealed and may be displayed either in or outdoors. This cherished family lake house, rich with sentimental value, was ready for a fresh update. When it came time to renovate their lake house, they enlisted the help of Becky Charton, owner of Tablesetters, Inc., and Andi Stephens, owner of Kitchen Distributors, Inc., to create a design that ensured the home remains a family legacy. Working side-by-side with his son, the homeowner created hand-hewed beams and crafted custom trim, adding special details that will make the home a warm, welcoming space for future generations. Therefore, it was important to coordinate the cabinetry with the stone walls while preserving the existing beams. They had used Wood-Mode in their current home and knew they wanted the same quality craftmanship in their vacation oasis. Finding inspiration from a variety of design influences, including William Morris, Big Cedar Lodge, Lake Living, 1950's National Park travel boom and Branson, Missouri's Table Rock Lake history – the homeowners immediately felt a connection with Wood-Mode’s Whitney II Recessed doors finished in Burnished Savannah on Natural Walnut. Features in the bath like the river rock wall and eye-catching blue star patterned floor tile with coordinating blue tiled shower surround, combine with personal possessions and pieces of history to bring personality to space.
