Situated in old Palo Alto, CA, this historic 1905 Craftsman style home now has a stunning landscape to match its custom hand-crafted interior. Our firm had a blank slate with the landscape, and carved out a number of spaces that this young and vibrant family could use for gathering, entertaining, dining, gardening and general relaxation. Mature screen planting, colorful perennials, citrus trees, ornamental grasses, and lots of depth and texture are found throughout the many planting beds. In effort to conserve water, the main open spaces were covered with a foot friendly, decorative gravel. Giving the family a great space for large gatherings, all while saving water.

Bring back that sense of carefree pleasure you enjoyed on warm, moonlit evenings with friends, with our 2012 Rose of the Year®, 'Summer Nights'. The blooms have delicate yellow petals blushed with a soft, rosy pink that deepens as it moves to the outer edges. You'll fall in love with this gorgeous new hybrid tea, reveling in its lovely licorice fragrance and exquisitely formed blossoms, whose soothing colors evoke memories of sweetly remembered sunsets!
Our 24" patio tree roses are heavy-blooming roses grafted onto a top-quality standard. More compact than the traditional 36" size, they are ideal for today's smaller gardens, as well as for containers of all types. Make a bold statement with this remarkable rose!
24-inch patio tree roses are budded onto a 24-inch trunk. This will make the overall tree, once leafed out and blooming, taller than 24 inches.

The Dallas Urban Reserve by Kevin Sloan, ASLA, M.Arch of Kevin Sloan Studio, with Robert Meckfessel, FAIA, DSGN Associates
Register: https://tclf.org/event/garden-dialogues-dallas-fort-worth-2015
Internationally recognized as an “innovative green project,” the award-winning Urban Reserve transformed a 10-acre site that had been an illegal landfill for more than 50 years into an exquisite Modernist community. In 2004, Urban Edge Developers in Dallas purchased the tract to construct a sustainable community, engaging landscape architect Kevin Sloan Studio and architects including Tod Williams and Billie Tsien. The refined aesthetics and careful grooming are equaled by environmentally sensitive details: the main street is a continuous biofilter; storm water is conveyed into rain gardens, separated by parking; cypress and reed plants filter water to sedimentation ponds for low-velocity drip irrigation. Concrete fragments and steel beams left over from its previous use as a landfill have been repurposed as “bricolage” for pavements and terraces. As part of the Dialogue, attendees will visit the landscapes of three private residences.

This photo shows the Sun/Moon Garden design. The standing reclaimed barn stones represent the eight planets in their orbit around the sun. The circular orbits are suggested through the use of plant material. The day and night color theme seasonally ripples throughout the entire design. There are specific site lines embedded in the design for metaphysical reasons.

The Gable Shed is a no frills storage building, strong enough to handle harsh New England weather and every day use. A beefy heavy duty shed with hefty 2x6 full- dimensioned hemlock floor and roof framing, this building features attractive trim details and a generous roof over- hang that offers better protection from the elements. This structure is aesthetically pleasing as well as utilitarian.

A complete and eclectic rear garden renovation with a creative blend of formal and natural elements. Formal lawn panel and rose garden, craftsman style wood deck and trellis, homages to Goldsworthy and Stonehenge with large boulders and a large stone cairn, several water features, a Japanese Torii gate, rock walls and steps, vegetables and herbs in containers and a new parking area paved with permeable pavers that feed an underground storage area that in turns irrigates the garden. All this blends into a diverse but cohesive garden.

Introduced in 1868, 'Zephirine Drouhin' is a romantic, fantastically fragrant, old-fashioned Rose that is still one of the most popular Climbing Roses today, especially in Europe. No Modern Rose has been able to exceed it for sheer performance and season-long bloom.
Peaking in spring and fall, the loose, semi-double blossoms of vivid cerise-carmine provide outstanding mass effect. Each bloom is about 4 inches across, opening from a long, pointed bud and made up of 20 to 30 richly colored petals that are infused with a strong damask scent.
The plant grows vigorously to 15 to 20 feet high and 4 to 5 feet wide and, remarkable for any Rose, performs well in shade! It's an excellent choice for north-facing walls and areas with little sunlight.
The rich, dark green foliage (coppery-purple when young) is very mildew-resistant, and the canes are thornless, making it great for planting where traffic is heavy or children are nearby. This classic, time-tested climbing rose is the perfect choice to train over a trellis or porch, or trim into a formal hedge. Plant in moist, well-drained, loamy soil. Zones 5-9. Late spring-Early Fall
