Warning to anyone considering doing business with Vermont based Jamaica Cottage Shop. DON'T!!!!! Technical help is great, there have been minor mistakes with the precut kit and instructions... But the logistics department is either mismanaged or set up to take advantage of customers. We were sent an incomplete kit... Not told about the missing pieces until we asked why we couldn't find the packing list... And have since experienced being jerked around like in a movie. I can only guess they are trying to make us ask to be reimbursed for the missing windows to avoid the company paying for shipping or for driving them to us... They keep saying "good news!" Which then turns into bad news... Over and over again. Love the product... What parts we were able to get.

To date my experience with Jamaica cottage shop has been extremely challenging. Currently I am very frustrated by the way JCS has handled the numerous issues I've had with their kit. I was super excited because of the design of their cottages and moving forward was looking forward to this purchase being the first of many for a larger project. I'm currently trying to resolve the many issues I've had with this company and still hopeful a resolution is possible. However currently I would say BUYER BEWARE. My experience so far has been very frustrating and costly.

I bought a fully assembled cottage from Jamaica Cottage Shops in the summer of 2015. My journey started with a visit to Jamaica Cottage Shops in the summer of 2014 when I wandered the property looking at every cottage, camp, and shed they had on display. In January 2015 I visited again and put down a deposit on the 12X18 Writers Haven. My only change to the basic plan was the addition of a screen door. The cottage is perfectly constructed. We haven’t found a single flaw. It was exactly as described on the website. When friends and family see it for the first time they are stunned at its beauty. One repeated comment is “pictures don’t do it justice.” I’ve waited a lifetime to have a cabin on my property in southern Vermont and now the dream has come true. My entire experience from first visit to delivery was 100% positive. Every email was answered immediately and the delivery, though scheduled months in advance, was carefully planned and executed on a difficult piece of property. I know who built the cottage and I know the associates that I communicated with. Every one of them is professional and friendly. The delivery crew (2 people) was skilled and serious. Only joking with us when the cottage was placed exactly on the spot it was supposed to be. I give Jamaica Cottage Shops my highest recommendation.

I bought a 20'x12' sheep barn for my little flock. The staff were amazing and very careful to get the details correct. Every bit of my barn is beautifully constructed and solid. The barn was delivered all put together on a huge truck that carefully lowed it in place. I plan to purchase a wood shed next year. I wish I had ordered my tool shed from them instead of a box store as there is quite a difference in the quality, design and function. Before purchasing, I would recommend visiting their location where they have at least fifty buildings as examples of what they can do. I saw details on sheds there that I had incorporated into my project that I really enjoy.

My wife and I purchased a pre-cut shed kit from Jamaica Cottage shop while we were on vacation in Vermont. The staff offered us a few options based on the foot print I was requesting. The staffer was very knowledgeable of what he had to offer and we were impressed with the quality of the sheds. He showed us the the instruction packet and gave me one to take home with me prior to shipment to help me understand the basics and construction techniques that would be required for the project. We could not be more pleased with the outcome . It's a beautiful shed and will add lasting improvement to my property.

I built an 8X8 shed from a kit i purchased from Jamaica Cottage Shop in June 2015. I can swing a hammer, but didn't really have a whole lot of experience before doing this project. I found the kit, the labeling of parts, and the instructions made for a relatively easy and efficient project. The entire kit came stacked on a pallet more of less in the order that I needed the parts, which was very, very helpful. JCS provides quite a bit of extra lumber with the kit in case a board shows up cracked, and also supplies all of the lumber you'll need to brace the structure temporarily while you side it.

We bought a 6 x 14 cord wood building from Jamaica Cottage quite a few years ago and it is still as solid as the day it was delivered. We fill it every spring with cord wood for the upcoming burning season. My wife and I love the way it looks when it is full of cord wood and hate to see the shed empty as the season goes on. We load it to the max every year and the floor structure has not sagged one bit. I would tell anyone looking for a out building to check out Jamaica Cottage.

Since late 2014, I have been able to observe, Domenic Mangano, and his crew of craftspeople at the Jamaica Cottage shop. They are not only dedicated to producing the finest outbuildings constructed in the timeless ways of old school New England, but also providing the utmost in customer service. Given the proper care, these buildings will stand the test of time. The rugged native lumber and the traditions and techniques used are the same ones that produced many of the 250 year old buildings that still stand up against the heavy Vermont snows. This sort of quality cannot be duplicated using imported partial board and other reclaimed wood products found in the big box stores. If you want something timeless and long lasting "JCS" is the way to go.

I looked at several local shed builders and even online. Their site was by far the easiest to find prices and models. The shed is very solid, the floors don't sag like the cheap ones. It had metal roofing with solid post and beams. The sales people were great and everything went very easy. I actually bought one for my business as well to store items.

I'm writing on behalf of an independent Montessori School. We purchased a shed from Jamaica Cottage Shop to store wagons and trikes on our playground. We couldn't have been more pleased with every aspect of this purchase! From the sales team to the delivery crew - everyone at Jamaica Cottage Shop was pleasant to work with. The shed we bought is wonderful too, we've received lots of compliments from parents and visitors to our campus. I think everyone who works at our school would agree with me that Jamaica Cottage Shop sells great quality, attractive products - and they're terrific to work with. Couldn't ask for more!

Jamaica Cottage Shop is awesome. We had a playhouse (Writers Haven) and a shed (Potting Shed), and both are extremely well built. They're very sturdy, and they delivered it to the exact spot we wanted. Our customer representative, Mindy, made sure we got everything we wanted for specifications.
