Much of the club’s exteriors reflect a quintessential New England shingle style architecture. The internals had succumbed to dated late 90s and early 2000s renovations of inexpensive materials void of craftsmanship. Our client’s aesthetic balances on the scales of hyper minimalism, clean surfaces, and void of visual clutter. The unique design concept of A139 is rooted in the basic geometric idea of two interlocking rectangles. This distinctive feature, along with the incorporation of rectangular geometries into the natural environment, sets it apart. The deliberate placement of a few windows in the front enhances privacy, while the addition of wooded and water elements to the facade creates a sober and elegant aesthetic. The project maintains a common language in its materiality: apparent concrete, steel, and wood. The three materials are presented sincerely from the outside of the house and continue on a constant journey through the interior. A139 is adjacent to the spring forest, privileged in its geographical position. We considered that the project’s purpose was that from any point of the house, we would have panoramic views that would serve as ambiance for itself and thus generate “natural pictures.” Our design philosophy for A139 was to seamlessly integrate the forest into the house. To achieve this, we created interior courtyards and spaces, blurring the boundary between the exterior and the interior. This approach not only enhances the living experience but also fosters a harmonious relationship with the natural surroundings. The house’s program is characterized by its social areas on the first floor, which can be combined to generate larger spaces if necessary. On the first floor are four bedrooms, each with a dressing room, bathroom, and terraces overlooking the spring forest. Casa A139 speaks for itself and presents itself honestly, subtly setting the views and ample spaces in the hierarchy by the natural textures of the materials.

The master bath’s double vanity offers ample storage, minimalist hardware, and elegant quartz surfaces, delivering a polished look that blends seamlessly with the adjacent walk-in shower.

A complete whole house renovation/addition of an existing 1890’s era antique residence renewing all systems, infrastructure, and finishes. Create new primary residence for with modern updates for year around living for the client while being a custodian of historic house that has been a contributor to the legacy of the area for generations. A poorly considered addition that linked to the original 1890’s antique with warren of stairs and corridors was torn down. The replacement addition enhanced the existing living spaces while adding new family room, sun room, prime bedroom suite, outdoor shower, side entry and stair. All the new and existing features are knit together by extending and modifying the existing exterior wrap around porch and house trim details.

This rural retreat along the shores of the St. Joe River embraces the many voices of a close-knit extended family. While contemporary in form - a nod to the older generation’s leanings - the house is built from traditional, rustic, and resilient elements such as a rough-hewn cedar shake roof, locally mined granite, and old-growth fir beams. The house’s east footprint parallels the bluff edge. The low ceilings of a pair of sitting areas help frame views downward to the waterline thirty feet below. These spaces also lend a welcome intimacy since oftentimes the house is only occupied by two. Larger groups are drawn to the vaulted ceilings of the kitchen and living room which open onto a broad meadow to the west that slopes up to a fruit orchard. The importance of group dinners is reflected in the bridge-like form of the dining room that links the two wings of the house.
