This client worked with her landscape architect to design an enchanting space with a Soake Pool as the focal point. Her backyard gets magical filtered light, and the waterfall provides gentle sound to mask the sound of cars or neighbors.

Our client's rectangular concrete swimming pool, complete with soft pool lighting and a large sun shelf entry, is stunning at sunset! Dual fire features mimic the sky's fading light, while gentle uplighting highlights a line of birch trees at the edge of the property. Pebbled hardscaping is mixed with natural bluestone coping and pavers in a geometric pattern. Metal patio furniture and oversized, crisp red umbrellas add a slightly modern touch to offset wicker patio furniture elsewhere on the pool deck. Photo: Dave Coppola Photography

Material Masterpiece Great clients with great vision. The best of Selah Pools & Custom Outdoor Environments starts with our client's willingness to participate in the design process as we build their custom dream. Ultra-Luxe design is found in the details. Each hand cut & placed dry stack stone in this scene, from their outdoor kitchen to the booted patio extension column, throughout the raised spa, the water feature wall, and the fire bowl columns are placed for depth & dimensional effect. The 1x1 glass tile forming the spa spillway attracts the waterfall like a magnet to deliver a gentle edgeless connection to the swimming pool. With carefully cut & placed tile match on the "rolled beam" of the spa interior, the entire spa scene gleams with intent as it delivers smooth, restful comfort. Completing the scene with an expansive pool deck color matched to bring it all together and leaving plenty of room for sports, play & relaxation delivers the total residential dream oasis.

Challenge: Can you create intimacy in an open 1.5 acre space? Solved: The long, clean lines of this exemplar of modernist landscape architecture are punctuated by multiple strategically separated seating and lounge areas. Here clusters of friends can gather, see and be seen, and soak in the outdoors without intruding on one another’s conversations. The focal point of this linear expanse—a 6-foot-tall stucco wall—is pierced by a broad peek-a-boo window beneath which three hand-crafted copper spouts gently spill falls of water into the main pool. The pool itself, capped with a 4″ purple band set in travertine marble combines with the fire pit nook, spa, and outdoor kitchen/dining area features to elevate this gorgeous new construction well above neighborhood standards.

The pool’s spacious 7’ x 15’ tanning shelf is the perfect place to catch some rays. The elegant white resin chaise lounges have soft bases which are gentle on the vinyl liner. The pool is equipped with a custom removable volleyball net, so this shelf makes an air-conditioned gathering spot for fans to cheer on the teams.

Another entertaining highlight is the 6’ x 7’ spillover spa which is conveniently located beside the pergola lounge area and fireplace. When not in use, the spa looks like a sheet of glass with water gently flowing over the Cascade stone ledges.

This waterfront pool project in Beaconsfield reimagines a transitional backyard by fusing timeless warmth with crisp modern geometry. At its heart lies a custom concrete pool whose expansive beach entry pool—also known as a generous tanning ledge—slopes gently into the water, delivering the relaxed feel of a private resort. A frameless glass pool fence with low-iron panels preserves unobstructed lake vistas while ensuring safety, allowing the pool’s shimmering surface to merge visually with the open water beyond. Anchoring the far end of the basin is a dramatic outdoor fire feature that rises directly from the waterline. By day it acts as a sculptural focal point; by night the flames ripple across the water, transforming the space into a show-stopping luxury swimming pool experience. Every contour, drainage line, and equipment specification was shaped by Northstone’s in-house landscape architect design team and executed by our 180-strong crew of specialists, reinforcing our reputation as the go-to Beaconsfield pool builder for bespoke, high-end projects. Because Northstone is an entirely in-house design build firm, we streamline all stages—city permits, excavation, steel placement, shotcrete, and finishing—under a single roof. This turnkey approach distinguishes us among Montreal pool construction companies and ensures flawless craftsmanship in every pour. It is also why clients seeking a custom pool contractor to create a resort-style backyard consistently choose Northstone. That commitment to quality has earned us the #1 ranking for landscaping on bestinMTL.com and the top spot for pool design-build on bestmontrealservices.com. Our work has been showcased in Dwell, House & Home, the Montreal Gazette, and Living Luxe Magazine, underscoring our status as Montreal’s premier high-end pool company for luxury outdoor living on lakefront properties.

Considering the size limitations of the pool, instead of having a traditional deep end, Betz built a wedge-shaped bottom with a depth of 3’ at the steps to just over 5’ at the main drain. This gentle slope allows bathers to swim, walk the full length, tread water or jump into the pool.

Contrasting beautifully with the gleaming white tile, the room has two natural stone feature walls clad with modern-look dry stack Wiarton tiger stripe ledgerock. On wall towards the back of the room, three sheer descent waterfalls add dramatic flare as they gently spill onto the shallow shelf leading to the pool’s walk-in steps.

The massive 32’ x 48’ concrete pool has a gently sloping beach entry running the full width. It has a large shallow portion which is ideal for pool games and a 10’ deep end that tempts courageous bathers to jump off the elevated artificial rock structure.

The pool’s original semi-circular walk-in steps did not go with the new geometric look, so new rectangular steps plus a large underwater bench were installed conveniently beside the spa. When not in use, a gentle stream of water flows over the spa’s notched spillway and recirculates into the pool.
