Greige tones are the foundation of the color scheme of the space. In this space we created a feature wall with molding and wallpaper in key locations. A few accent furniture pieces and purple accents add a splash of color the space. New furnishings and accessories helped polished off the newly created space.

This 7,000 square foot, single family home, nestled at the base of San Francisco’s skyline Landmark, Sutro Tower, is an impressive representation of the quality of work Cook Construction produces. Designed by visionary John Maniscalco Architects, this 4 story modern marvel has impressive 23’ custom windows revealing breathtaking panoramic views of the city and surrounding bay. Its’ expansive kitchen and living areas include state-of-the-art appliances, European cabinetry and Lucifer mud-in lighting. A handsomely showcased wine room, a nourishing spa, complete with sauna, steam room and custom stainless hot tub, and large fitness studio with garden views, are only some of its elegantly conceived amenities. Floor to ceiling pocket doors, trim-less casings and baseboards, and other hidden reveals situated throughout this home create a sleek yet functional gravitas.

A mountain homestead woven into the woods, unobtrusive to nature, human in scale. The red barn becomes a threshold between the Aspen stand and the tree-lined courtyard of the rambling complex, signaling an arrival in a place defined by material gravitas reclaimed wood, ancient stone an authentic expression of Western heritage.

The original formal dining room of this classic coop was redefined as a combined family room/den/library. Trim, ceilings, and furnishings provide a sense of lightness while the navy blue of the walls and bookcases add a touch of distinction and gravitas while minimizing the presence of the TV. A classic Eames chair and ottoman in a corner provide the perfect spot for reading.

The magnificently matched fireplace and over-mantel show the versatility as well as the gravitas natural stone can bring to space. it was carved out of our Rivera Beige limestone.

The front entry hall leads to the front staircase going to the second floor, and also runs right through the house and opens into the back of the house where the family room has views onto the countryside. The two orientals flanking the open entry both have strong reds which add warmth to the dark floors. The small English dresser beside the stairs is also an antique which we brought in to give some gravitas to the elegance of the great stairwell. The mirror above it is an American antique Shield mirror. It softens the right angles of the dresser and reflects light back into the foyer.

Faux marble surround's the extra deep soaking tub, the glass hex and chrome add bling, and the water stain tile floor adds gravitas. The toilet has a little more privacy too.

Heritage homes essay a sense of gravitas. An architectural pause that reminds, even in the time of Wi-Fi, something quieter remains. This client’s wish was to revamp the previous homeowner’s landscaping while amplifying the traditional character of the property – the Old Washington feel. More structure was desired, restraint favored over excess, function preferred over flair. Above all, the design was to create more space for gathering and family time. A stone retaining wall replaced a slope in the rear yard to create a large terrace at the main rear doors of the house. Stone steps offer a natural transition to a lower level, large open lawn, featuring an intimate patio for grilling and watching the kids play. Evergreens lend shape and structure while tall hornbeams grant the privacy of a garden sanctuary. In the language of Pennsylvania flagstone and long-blooming perennials, the redesign speaks of sturdiness and sincerity; languages known in the body before the mind.

In this Houston area home, we took out the ugly old balusters and put in our fine new wrought iron powder coated ones. The new balusters, our PC19/1, PC19/2, and PC26/1, all in the Midnight Bronze color, give the staircase a sense of style and gravitas that the original wood balusters just couldn’t hope to match.

This niche was a boring cream color that did nothing to showcase the entryway of the home. Using many colors of metallic wax, this niche was transformed into a showpiece of depth and color that now adds gravitas to anything placed within.

John Shearer This project was a recent home purchase where the owners wanted a darker stain color. Stain color changes (and paint color changes) are a typical request for new home purchases; many owners want to put their own style on their new home. In this case the darker stain color changed the overall feel of the home. The darker stain added visual weight (and gravitas) to the front entry area. The existing clear coat was removed with a chemical stripper and Shearer painters used a two step dye and stain to achieve the color and depth. A satin protective coating was put on afterward.
