Bronwyn and her husband, in an effort to save money, had chosen to keep the existing kitchen blueprint. That meant keeping the kitchen sink in the corner, at an angle.
IKEA only makes square cabinets. Bronwyn’s IKD designer suggested a cabinet hack to fix the space: angling an extra-wide cabinet, and then having dead space in the remaining 45°.
That’s another reason why the carpenter’s offer for a non-IKEA kitchen was so attractive. His custom cabinets could fit in the spaces perfectly with no dead space and, more importantly, no tricky cabinet hacks.

Fun planting arrangement.

This bathroom needed a quick, budget friendly update. The IKEA Vanity was a "hack" where we painted it out and created cool pulls. The floor, shower niche and pendant lighting really make this space pop.

3. Marina Moisture Hack: Dampness got you down? Toss silica gel packs ($10 for 3 at local hardware stores!) in closets, and hang woven seagrass baskets (Embarcadero Market handmade finds) to keep clothes CA-crisp.
4. Entryway “Invisible Hero”: Skip bulky shoe benches. Opt for a slender pull-out stool (West Elm’s spruce wood version)—hides umbrellas, packages, and junk mail. Bye-bye, entryway mess.
