This charming cape style home in New Bedford, MA looks fabulous with Mastic Cedar Discovery vinyl siding in Cape Cod Gray!
The homeowner chose Mastic Cedar Discovery vinyl siding because she liked the look of real cedar shingles but wanted to go maintenance free. Size doesn’t matter when it comes to quality of design. For this petite Cape-style home along the Eagle River in Ipswich, Massachusetts, we focused on creating a warm, inviting space designed for family living. Radiating from the kitchen – the “heart” of the home – we created connections to all the other spaces in the home: eating areas, living areas, the mudroom and entries, even the upstairs. Details like the highly functional yet utterly charming under-the-stairs drawers and cupboards make this house extra special while the open floor plan gives it a big house feel without sacrificing coziness. In 2018, the home was updated with interior trim details, including new shaker paneling on the staircase and custom newel post, a TV built-in with shelves and drawers and beadboard back, and a half wall bookshelf with columns to replace the wall dividing the living room from dining room. The client also wanted a gas fireplace to enjoy during the winter, but didn't want to lose their beautiful marsh views. We designed the fireplace to go below the window, vented out the rear, with pebbled tile surround and benches flanking either side for storage.

We worked with our clients who wanted to add a powder room to the main floor of their Victorian home, by re-imagining the crawl space under the stairs, and expanding into this sea worthy half bath. You immediately feel as though you are on a boat with cedar wood lined walls and ceiling, solid brass plumbing trim from Kingston Brass, a thoughtfully curated enamel antique enamel bucket sink (Restored from https://readytore.com/) soap on a rope, and wall mounted toilet.
The brass mirror was sourced from eBay and rope mirror from Provincetown, on Cape Cod.
The solid brass light fixture is from Urban Electric, wallpaper from Cole & Sons.

This Cape Cod-style bathroom combines a classic coastal palette with a unique and stylish design, creating a bright and inviting space. The most striking feature is the vibrant Serena and Lilly patterned wallpaper, which covers the upper half of the walls and serves as a dynamic backdrop for the room. The repeating fan or scallop-like motif of the wallpaper adds a playful and decorative element.
Below the wallpaper, the lower half of the walls is finished with crisp white beadboard paneling, a classic architectural detail that reinforces the coastal and cottage aesthetic. A round mirror with a thick, natural rattan frame hangs above the sink, adding a warm, organic texture that contrasts beautifully with the clean lines of the white vanity and beadboard.
The vanity itself is a simple white cabinet with a clean white countertop and an undermount sink. A modern polished chrome faucet with a unique handle design adds a touch of contemporary flair. Above the mirror, a chrome light fixture with two white, frosted glass shades provides balanced and bright illumination. On the right, a chrome towel rack holds a folded white towel, and a simple white shower curtain completes the clean and functional design. This bathroom expertly balances traditional coastal elements with a fresh, modern sensibility.
