This 3-bedroom residence in Bangalore was designed for a family of three who wanted a home rooted in Indian warmth, craft and character, while still feeling refined, functional and contemporary.
The design language draws deeply from traditional Indian aesthetics, expressed through earthy materials, handcrafted details and a rich but calming palette. Raw brick, natural wood, stone, cane, rattan, textured fabrics and earthy hues come together to create a home that feels grounded, tactile and lived-in. Traditional furniture forms are thoughtfully balanced with contemporary lines, giving the space a timeless yet fresh identity.
A strong emphasis was placed on craft. Every element in the home was 100% customised and handcrafted on site by skilled carpenters, allowing each room to carry a distinct sense of personality. Antique wooden pillars and curated props sourced from Kerala add depth, nostalgia and authenticity, while handmade lighting elements bring warmth and artisanal charm.
Biophilic-inspired wallpapers, natural textures and carefully layered materials connect the interiors to nature. Athangudi tiles have been used in key areas to introduce colour, pattern and a sense of regional heritage, creating memorable design moments without overwhelming the overall calmness of the home.
The result is a deeply personal residence that celebrates Indian craftsmanship, natural materials and slow design — a home that is traditional in spirit, contemporary in comfort, and entirely bespoke in execution.

This was an addition to a historic Wallace Frost home in Birmingham, MI. The beams, windows and floors and window sill tiles match the existing beams in the original part of the home.Handmade tiles were sourced through Ann Sacks for the backsplash.

This 4,140 sqft Spanish-style home underwent an extensive, multi-space remodel designed to preserve its original character while elevating it with custom craftsmanship and high-end materials throughout. The kitchen, pantry, powder room, laundry room, primary closet, and primary bathroom were all thoughtfully redesigned with Spanish-inspired detailing and a refined, luxurious approach.
The kitchen is the heart of the remodel and showcases fully custom cabinetry with arched reed columns, bespoke door profiles, and an island wrapped in individually applied oak reeds. Pocket doors conceal a coffee nook, while arched metal-framed glass doors seamlessly integrate into custom arched cabinetry and pantry units. A custom ornamental metal detail doubles as a hanging bar for the banquette’s tailored blue cushions. Cabinet finishes combine soft off-white with lightly stained natural oak.
A dramatic custom arched lime-plaster hood anchors the space, featuring hidden storage and a striking Zia tile backsplash above a custom blue BlueStar range. Taj Mahal quartzite wraps the countertops and backsplash, while walls and ceilings are finished in Patagonia Roman clay for added depth and texture. Dornbracht fixtures in brushed champagne gold, Top Knobs hardware, and a blue marble banquette tabletop complete the space.
The powder room continues the artisanal theme with a floating microcement countertop, Oska vessel sink by Kast, warm bronze wall-mounted faucet by Graff, alabaster sconces, handmade Moroccan zellige tile flooring, original painted glass windows, and Roman clay walls and ceiling.
In the laundry room, custom cabinetry, generous storage, and patterned painted limestone tile flooring maintain the Spanish influence while maximizing function.
The primary closet features a custom dark blue closet system, highlighted by an arched illuminated glass display cabinet set atop a Viola marble countertop. Roman clay walls in a deeper blue tone and a sculptural glass chandelier complete the space.
The primary bathroom is one of the most distinctive spaces in the home. A custom layout includes a freestanding tub, arched walk-in shower, and bespoke double vanity. Dramatic Dover White marble slabs were bookmatched and carried across half-height walls, shower walls, vanity surfaces, and backsplash. The same marble was meticulously fabricated into custom 4”x4” pieces for the shower pan, allowing the veining to flow seamlessly while maintaining slip resistance. The remaining walls are finished in Concretta microcement for a soft plaster effect.
The rift white oak double vanity features curved edges, ribbed side details, and six-panel drawer fronts. Warm bronze fixtures by Graff, arched niches, elliptical mirrors, and custom handmade Voyager sconces by Allied Maker complete this Spanish-inspired sanctuary.
This project is a true celebration of craftsmanship, material integrity, and timeless Spanish design, reimagined for modern luxury living.

The en suite bathroom in the primary bedroom is fairly small and kept in dark warm earthtones - custom oak cabinetry blends with ochre handmade tile. We replaced the bathtub with a generous walk in shower that is completely open without glass. The mirror is marble , the countertops are Paperstone in Leather finish (a completely green product made from recycled paper and resin)

You would hardly guess that this bungalow was all sorts of boring brown before we got our hands on it! With a classic blend of blue and white cabinetry in the kitchen and gorgeous warm handmade tile accents, the interior view of this home is now just as beautiful as it’s stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. Changing the corner door to the pantry was a game changer in bringing this kitchen back up to date - be sure to see the before photos on Instagram!

This kitchen blends white shaker cabinetry with natural wood upper cabinets and a custom range hood. Quartz countertops and a handmade tile backsplash create a bright work surface, while brass hardware and glass pendant lighting add warmth. The layout centers on a large peninsula for prep, seating, and everyday use.

It is sometimes a surprise what beauty can lurk under the surface of a room. A client with a 1970s kitchen and eat-in area cut up by an unwieldy peninsula was desperate for it to reflect her love of all things English-and-French-Manor-Home.
Working closely with my client, we removed the peninsula in favor of a lovely free-standing island that we painted a shade of French Blue. This is topped with Old World sink hardware (note the ceramic HOT and COLD medallions on the faucets!) and a gorgeous marble counter with a very special edge profile that evokes an antique French Boulangerie counter from the 1910s. Pendants with patinaed metal shades over the island further the charming Old World feel. Handmade white and blue tiles laid in a quilted diamond pattern cover the backsplash, and the remainder of the cabinetry at the perimeter is in a warm cream tone.
The eat-in near the fireplace got a cozy treatment with custom seat cushions and window seat bench cushions in a classic blue-and-white Toile de Jouy matching the island stools.
The nearby living room got a similar treatment. We removed dark wood paneling and dark carpeting in favor of a light sky blue wall and lighter wood flooring. A new rug with the appearance of an heirloom, a new grand-scaled sofa, and some of my client’s precious antiques helped take the room from 70s rec room to English Sitting Room.

A built-in bookcase and entertainment center make this large living space feel cozy while giving the homeowners a beautiful place to display memories and keepsakes.

This bathroom brings together bold handmade navy tile, a striking triple sink on a custom wood base, and a freestanding tub framed by natural light. Crisp cabinetry, layered textures, and thoughtful accents complete the design, balancing practicality with refined style. A modern space infused with warmth, it reflects Studio Voltaire’s signature blend of European elegance and New England craftsmanship.

Our vision for this space was to incorporate old world, handmade elements and the European lifestyle that our clients adopted during their time living abroad. The handmade ceramic and brass light fixtures along with the brass plumbing fittings and hardware balance the cool toned solid wood cabinetry. The Catalina Belgian Bluestone is inspired by Bruges' cobbled streets yet it presents a smooth satin finish with rough edging that has been over-grouted for comfort.
We chose energy efficient appliances that appealed to our clients' lifestyle by incorporating an electric induction cooktop with usable drawers situated underneath for large pot and pan storage along with electric wall ovens. Using panel ready appliances and adding a small crown above the refrigerator and pantry wall cabinets ensures these large appliances feel more like furniture. The custom plaster hood surround and small niche evokes old world curves and movement, a detail that truly spoke to our client. Bringing in an antique rug provides that time-worn finishing tough that a new space begs for; we cannot get enough of the finish space!

French Manor
Mission Hills, Kansas
This new Country French Manor style house is located on a one-acre site in Mission Hills, Kansas.
Our design is a traditional 2-story center hall plan with the primary living areas on the first floor, placing the formal living and dining rooms to the front of the house and the informal breakfast and family rooms to the rear with direct access to the brick paved courtyard terrace and pool.
The exterior building materials include oversized hand-made brick with cut limestone window sills and door surrounds and a sawn cedar shingle roofing. The Country French style of the interior of the house is detailed using traditional materials such as handmade terra cotta tile flooring, oak flooring in a herringbone pattern, reclaimed antique hand-hewn wood beams, style and rail wall paneling, Venetian plaster, and handmade iron stair railings.
