The poor layout of the original kitchen, and the lack of sufficient storage space, led this homeowner to finally decide to renovate. But, despite living in this house for quite a few years, our client did not realize the full potential of their space. That is, of course, until we came in. ​ We demolished some existing walls to create an open space. New walls were built, adding a custom walk-in pantry. We relocated some existing appliances and installed a new fridge, hood vent and a gorgeous Wolf stove. We completely reworked the lighting by adding ambient pot lights, decorative pendants and under-cabinet task lights. ​ The original kitchen did not have any open shelves or glass cabinets. We featured both in a gorgeous display wall, lit by channeled LED strip lights. We included a hidden walk-in pantry and a floor-to-ceiling wine rack to ensure that a celebratory bottle of cabernet sauvignon is never more than a few steps away.

Situated in Lancaster county overlooking Amish farms this older home had excellent bones to create a modern, industrial look. The original kitchen had traditional walnut cabinets and a rustic look. The client from San Francisco recognized the potential and hired us to come up with a design that matched their taste and coordinated with the house - modern with a little bit of industrial chic. It was important that the kitchen had counter space, storage, and seating. Space was limited we removed a wall and added a niche wall with the refrigerator. Our client requested lots of storage space to create a clear and uncluttered counter. All cooking equipment and small appliances have a place. A large pantry was created for extra storage. Full height cabinets on either side of the refrigerator provide storage and easy access to small kitchen appliances. Top hinged cabinet doors make storage easily accessible. Drawers were used for base cabinets so that items are easily within reach. Moving from the sink to the range and to the refrigerator is easy with just a few steps between each appliance - making cooking a breeze. Globe lights over the island create plenty of light for cooking, eating or working. Under-counter lighting and hidden hood lighting provide additional brightness. A long marble topped island with a waterfall edge serves as a prep station and counter for serving. The upper counter can be used for seating, standing, and serving. Using a monochromatic palette with wood accents kept the design clean and allows the eye to settle on beautiful details. The results are a functional, open modern feeling kitchen, with a beautiful backdrop of the Amishfarm outside full length windows. It is very special.

The original idea was to update the tile floor and the tub. That’s it. A further discussion of wants and needs revealed intentions for an eventual larger shower and an improved vanity storage. It made sense to map out the possibilities and design our update with potential next steps in mind. The process was exciting, ultimately leading to the decision to do a full primary bath remodel. ADU (Accessory dwelling unit) became a major part of the family of project we have been building in the past 3 years since it became legal in Los Angeles. This is a typical conversion of a small style of a garage. (324sq only) into a fantastic guest unit / rental. A large kitchen and a roomy bathroom are a must to attract potential rentals. in this design you can see a relatively large L shape kitchen is possible due to the use a more compact appliances (24" fridge and 24" range) to give the space even more function a 24" undercounter washer/dryer was installed. Since the space itself is not large framing vaulted ceilings was a must, the high head room gives the sensation of space even in the smallest spaces. Notice the exposed beam finished in varnish and clear coat for the decorative craftsman touch. The bathroom flooring tile is continuing in the shower are as well so not to divide the space into two areas, the toilet is a wall mounted unit with a hidden flush tank thus freeing up much needed space.

An original Cabbagetown cottage was fully renovated and expended so that the original facade was restored but unchanged. As a result, a traditional landscape befitting of a Victorian garden streetscape was required for the front yard. Simultaneously, a modern approach was needed in the rear yard to make the most of a deep lot with a garage potentially acting as a barrier in the middle. A custom wrought iron fence and mature trees and boxwood hedging added the classical formal touches for this front landscape. A multi-level deck and steps serviced the garage and new spa with a custom water feature fabricated from Corten steel panels and a traditional design. A seating area with a custom cedar façade and metal pergola created a secluded dining space, and a flagstone path leads past an outdoor shower to a hidden fire pit area.

Situated in Lancaster county overlooking Amish farms this older home had excellent bones to create a modern, industrial look. The original kitchen had traditional walnut cabinets and a rustic look. The client from San Francisco recognized the potential and hired us to come up with a design that matched their taste and coordinated with the house - modern with a little bit of industrial chic. It was important that the kitchen had counter space, storage, and seating. Space was limited we removed a wall and added a niche wall with the refrigerator. Our client requested lots of storage space to create a clear and uncluttered counter. All cooking equipment and small appliances have a place. A large pantry was created for extra storage. Full height cabinets on either side of the refrigerator provide storage and easy access to small kitchen appliances. Top hinged cabinet doors make storage easily accessible. Drawers were used for base cabinets so that items are easily within reach. Moving from the sink to the range and to the refrigerator is easy with just a few steps between each appliance - making cooking a breeze. Globe lights over the island create plenty of light for cooking, eating or working. Under-counter lighting and hidden hood lighting provide additional brightness. A long marble topped island with a waterfall edge serves as a prep station and counter for serving. The upper counter can be used for seating, standing, and serving. Using a monochromatic palette with wood accents kept the design clean and allows the eye to settle on beautiful details. The results are a functional, open modern feeling kitchen, with a beautiful backdrop of the Amishfarm outside full length windows. It is very special.

In the apartment project at Vinhomes Symphony apartment that we implemented this time, white and black are no longer just two opposing colors, but they are combined and mixed, intertwined creatively to create a unity. As an expression of day and night, brilliance and mystery, white and black have adopted tricks and materials, arrays of blocks and light, blending together with the goal of creating living spaces with comfort, convenience and luxury. With an east-facing façade, the apartment is endowed with the advantage of natural light as well as excellent panoramic views. The highlight of this apartment is the view opening to the Phuc Loi lotus lagoon with a large area, more than 10 hectares and airy landscape by the Duong River. The sophistication in design and handling of space has been put on top by us, in order to make the most of these extremely special advantages. In order for a living space to truly become a place called "Home" – a place where we want to return and feel peaceful while there, we have carefully researched the preferences and desires of the owner. Sharing with me about her hobby, Ms. Yen expressed that she loves a modern space with minimalist style and cool tones, creating a sense of tranquility and elegance. This is clearly reflected in the original idea for the apartment. What's even more interesting is his teenage son's hobby of playing Lego. This is not only a personal preference but also a special source of inspiration for the design process. From these data, we built a preliminary idea for the comprehensive living space of the apartment. The combination of the requirement of modern, minimalist space and cool tones along with creative elements from his son's personal hobby of playing Lego has created a unique living space, both reflecting the owner's own personality and meeting the needs of living and personal preferences. This is the foundation for creating a real home, where each member of the family feels content and peaceful every time they return. The "Laundry Room". This space was significantly small, but we needed to maximize its potential. By doing a custom cabinet to hide the stacking W/D, we could hide the machines, while gaining space.

Some rooms never quite find their purpose. That was the case with this space, which had gradually become a combination home office, pantry overflow area, pet zone, and general catch-all for daily life. While it offered plenty of square footage, it wasn’t helping the homeowners stay organized, and valuable storage was scattered between an overcrowded pantry closet and various pieces of furniture throughout the room. Having previously partnered with Drury Design on a kitchen remodel, these homeowners once again turned to Senior Designer Samantha Schoell to help them rethink how their home could better support the way they actually live. What began as a conversation about adding some cabinetry quickly evolved into a comprehensive storage solution — one designed to accommodate everything from groceries and sports equipment to pet supplies and everyday household essentials. Design Objectives: Create Organization: Consolidate pantry overflow, household supplies, and everyday essentials into a single, highly functional space. Support Family Life: Provide dedicated storage for coats, bags, sports equipment, and the routines of an active household. Accommodate Pets: Incorporate thoughtful features for the family’s dogs while maintaining a clean, organized appearance. Maximize Existing Space: Transform an underutilized room without expanding the home’s footprint. Maintain Flexibility: Preserve the room’s long-term versatility and appeal for future homeowners. Design Challenges: Multiple Functions: The room was being used simultaneously as a home office, pantry, storage area, and pet space without a cohesive organizational strategy. Insufficient Pantry Storage: The nearby pantry closet had become overcrowded and difficult to navigate. Visual Clutter: Everyday items, pet supplies, and household necessities lacked dedicated storage locations. Unused Potential: Despite its generous size, the room was not contributing meaningfully to the home’s overall functionality. Balancing Practicality and Style: The homeowners wanted substantial storage without creating a space that felt overly utilitarian. Design Solutions: Purpose-Built Storage Plan: Custom cabinetry was designed to support multiple functions within a unified storage system, allowing the room to serve as a mudroom, pantry extension, household hub, and pet station. Expanded Pantry Capacity: Floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, a secondary refrigerator, and extensive drawer storage dramatically increased food storage and organization capabilities. Hidden Organization: Closed cabinetry conceals household items, sports gear, pet supplies, and everyday clutter, creating a calm and orderly appearance. Full-Room Transformation: Rather than simply adding cabinets to one wall, the design reimagined the entire room, utilizing its footprint to create a true family command center. Furniture-Inspired Cabinetry: Warm wood finishes, decorative hardware, open display shelving, and thoughtful detailing elevate the room beyond pure utility, helping it feel like a natural extension of the home’s design. The most successful remodeling projects often solve problems homeowners have simply learned to live with. In this case, a room that once served several purposes — but excelled at none — was transformed into one of the hardest-working spaces in the home. Today, groceries, pet supplies, seasonal gear, household essentials, and daily routines all have a designated place. Even the family’s dogs were thoughtfully considered, with a built-in resting area integrated into the cabinetry. The result is a room that feels remarkably organized despite supporting countless everyday activities — a reflection of how thoughtful design can bring clarity, efficiency, and calm to the busiest parts of family life.

The original idea was to update the tile floor and the tub. That’s it. A further discussion of wants and needs revealed intentions for an eventual larger shower and an improved vanity storage. It made sense to map out the possibilities and design our update with potential next steps in mind. The process was exciting, ultimately leading to the decision to do a full primary bath remodel. Design Objectives: -Maintain existing locations for all major bathroom functions -Make the shower larger and more open -Use luxurious materials throughout -Improve vanity storage and define accessories for specific items -Incorporate luxury shower fixtures -Include the latest technology Design Challenges -Enlarging the shower in a typical rectangular shape would block the view and light from the alcove windows behind the tub -Logical placement of the built-in shower caddy and all shower components in accordance with how and where they were to be used -Keeping the long, back wall free from any shower modules to maintain the decorative tile design -Combining the owner’s existing smart home system with a comprehensive shower system -Planning cabinetry for hidden storage and use for various small appliances and make-up -Integrating expensive shower wall tile with less expensive wall tile for aesthetic and budget purposes -Incorporating special design features to balance the highly decorative shower tile Design solutions: -A clipped corner was planned for the shower bench seat – this allowed for a larger glass wall. The glass wall at the angled bench also brought more natural light into the shower -Thoughtful shower space design prevented the crowding of features – the shower caddy and handheld shower head were placed on the full-height wall by the shower bench, the regular shower head and body sprays remained on the opposite wall, and the rain head was placed in the center of the shower -A multi-port DTV system was installed, providing control of all shower components, including chromotherapy and music inside and outside the shower -The lavish water-jet stone and glass decorative tile was paired with a less-expensive glass tile found in the mosaic -Pull-out grooming organizers and electrical docking stations were incorporated into the cabinetry Additional storage was created in the lower corner cabinet The homeowners are thrilled with their new primary bathroom. Clear goals and carefully evaluated materials informed a fun and functional design that is both thoughtful and sumptuous!
