A quiet place to unwind at the end of the day was the top priority for this Thousand Oaks client. Soothing plum accents against crisp white bedding. Custom built double-sided barn door that serves as dual purpose, first and foremost as a layered headboard, and seconds as a privacy door simply by sliding across to the vanity area. The client inherited the small side table, which we painted in a charcoal black and now serves as a nightstand. The bathroom vanity was raised 6 inches and custom arched toe kicks were added.

Basement Bath Bryn Mawr PA. Want a basement bath from scratch? Sure, no problem its nothing a little jackhammering concrete and digging trenches for plumbing can’t solve. We changed a doorway to an unfinished storage area to a spacious full bath and hall with access to the remaining storage area. Now family and guests have a more convenient bath when hanging out in the finished basement. The clients also wanted a full shower for the kids after sports, guests staying over, or after a workout in the adjoining fitness room. Some interesting ceiling work was needed to go around the homes existing mechanicals while still maintaining a comfortable ceiling height. Durable and stylish vinyl floating floors are a great choice for the flooring. The Dreamline shower system looks clean and bright. The new bath and hall blend seamlessly with the already finished basement and seem original to the space.

Working in small or awkward spaces is often the most rewarding because the problem solving required calls on one’s creativity. The slanted ceiling nook in this tween bedroom is a great example of how to turn a demerit into an asset. Instead of trying to ignore it, the feature is played up here with the bold stripe treatment. The nook’s utility is maximized by using a corner desk and creating custom wood shelves affixed to the wall using plumbing piping.
Storage space remained a challenge in the room, and if we added a tall storage unit to the wall where one could fit, we would be blocking the light and views of the windows. The solution was to create a long, built-in bench with drawer storage below and two long wooden shelves, higher up the wall, for books and personal items. To bring in an industrial vibe and complement the iron bed, we distressed the wood and used plumbing pipes and fixtures for shelf support.

This spectacular family home situated above Lake Hodges in San Diego with sweeping views, was a complete interior and partial exterior remodel. Having gone untouched for decades, the home presented a unique challenge in that it was comprised of many cramped, unpermitted rooms and spaces that had been added over the years, stifling the home's true potential. Our team gutted the home down to the studs and started nearly from scratch.
The goal was to dramatically open up the living space and modernize the home, while capitalizing on the stunning views the property had to offer. With the existing floor plan, only bedrooms had partial views, with common living areas relegated to the back portion, preventing residents from enjoying the expansive sightlines available to the home.
The completely reimagined floorplan included relocating the kitchen and Master Suite to the opposite side of the home to take better advantage of the views and natural light. All bathrooms and the laundry room were completely remodeled along with installing new doors, windows, and flooring throughout the home and completely upgrading all electrical and plumbing.
The end result is simply stunning. Light, bright, and modern, the new version of this home demonstrates the power of thoughtful architectural planning, creative problem solving, and expert design details.

With help from my design-savvy client, I was able to create a stylish yet practical solution to her functional problems in the existing kitchen. The space was dark, cramped, and disorganized. While making dinner, she ran back and forth through a two-way door to communicate with her children in the family room. Backpacks and homework spilled into the kitchen and lights were on regardless of the time of day.
To solve these issues, we opened up the wall between the family room to improve communication and bring in more natural light. A mud room was defined by adding walls near the back door. We raised the ceiling to the original height and the new opening was trimmed to match all existing openings for a seamless design. Making dinner has a whole new outlook with a custom island that faces the family room and the warm southern sunlight. We finished it off embracing current trends with grey cabinets, marble counters with backsplash, brushed brass hardware and open shelving.
