Completely enclosed in glass, this custom wine cellar in Hermosa Beach, Los Angeles, California, is sure to turn some heads. Located directly off of the kitchen and dining room, this custom wine room / glass wine cellar / modern wine cellar / contemporary wine cellar holds upwards of 200 bottles. Glass, Metal, and stone are all utilized in our favorite combination for a gorgeous contemporary masterpiece. Double deep metal wine racks / metal wine racking is utilized here, placed a few feet off of the ground to allow for potential case storage space on the tile below. Black metal wine racking was also chosen, as opposed to silver metal wine racks in order to really make the space pop. The glass here is single pane. Master Wine Cellar Builders and Design Build team at Vintage Cellars recommend using dual paned, thermally insulated glass in wine cellars to minimize potential for condensation, as well as making sure that your wine cellar is able to maintain proper temperature and humidity constantly. Single pane glass simply does not have a high enough R Value of insulation, though it can make the space look a bit more clean and elegant. The cooling unit was an RM Coil, traditionally mounted into the racks - but in this instance was recessed into the ceiling. The cooling unit and heat load calculation took into account that there were two large walls of glass here - knowing fully that there would be substantial heat loss through the large single panes on either end. The Homeowner's vision was to create this entire underground space from scratch. A stunning wooden grille covers the cooling unit face inside the contemporary wine cellar. The Modern feel and design of this wine room, heightened by a very clean, contemporary room feel itself, metal 'Contempo' wine racking, and straight lines throughout, is becoming more popular in chic homes throughout Los Angeles, Orange County, San Francisco, and San Diego Counties alike. Upon walking down the staircase into the modern wine cellar, a backlit horizontal display wall greets you with wines more suitable for drinking now. South Puget Sound House

This four bedroom beach house in Washington's South Sound is all about growing up near the water's edge during summer's freedom from school. The owner's childhood was spent in a small cabin on this site with her parents and siblings. Now married and with children of her own, it was time to savor those childhood memories and create new ones in a house designed for generations to come. At 3,200 square feet, including a whimsical Crow's Nest, the new summer cabin is much larger than the original cabin. The home is still about family and fun though. Above the 600 square foot water toys filled garage, there is a 500 square foot bunk room for friends and family. The bunk room is connected to the main house by an upper bridge where built-in storage frames a window seat overlooking the property. Throughout the home are playful details drawing from the waterfront locale. Paddles are integrated into the stair railing, engineered flooring with a weathered look, marine cleats as hardware, a boardwalk to the main entry, and nautical lighting are found throughout the house. The homeowner - an internationally acclaimed Winery Owner and Vintner, worked directly with our team to properly store their incredible wine collection of over 3500 bottles. With an unbelievable collection of First Growth Bordeaux s, Burgundy Domaine de la Romanee Conti s, Cult Napa Cabernets, and more, the homeowner wanted the utmost care and expertise in creating an environment perfectly designed to store and age their wines gracefully. The team at Vintage Cellars was able to work with the client intimately, talking through and understanding this unique collection of splits, 750’s, and large format bottles from the ground up, creating a completely custom wine racking system to perfectly meet all wants and needs. The wine racking is a mixture of custom unfinished black walnut cabinetry, coupled with a showstopping bronze racking showpiece viewable through the kitchen picture window. Many wine racks are backlit with LED lighting and fully illuminated panels to add extra pop. The cellar also features space for original wooden case storage, coved trays for both standard and magnum sized bottles, custom enclaves for larger bottles, and bread boards throughout for entertaining. The entire cellar is large enough to store the collection with room to grow - upwards of 250 square feet complete with two redundant whisperkool 4000 btu ceiling mount wine cellar cooling systems, and integrated humidification features. Looking into the wine cellar from the kitchen, you can see many prized bottles on display, beautifully cradled by metal wine racking through the dual pane, thermally insulated window. This stunning glass enclosed modern custom wine cellar was designed and installed by Vintage Cellars earlier this year. The Contemporary Custom Wine Room was fitted into an existing fireplace space, turning the visually unappealing sore thumb of the room into a magnificent show stopping centerpiece. This modern luxury condo on the 31st floor in a downtown San Diego high-rise acted as a very interesting project for the custom wine cellar design team at Vintage Cellars. The modern wine room space has dual paned, insulated glass but because of the nature of glass itself, the cooling unit was recommended to be oversized. The custom wine room space itself didn't have great options for venting the cooling unit due to the location on the 31st floor. The best option to vent was determined to treat the wine room as a wine cabinet, per se. The Cooling Unit, a CellarPro 1800 XTS, was placed in the ceiling, venting down cool air and circulating vented air back upward. The result works perfectly for a uniquely modern and contemporary space such as this. This fully enclosed, glass front custom wine cellar boasts a 300 bottle capacity with a sleek, modern, label forward feel that ULTRA Wine Peg racking is known for. The center section is a double stacked full reveal display row, showcasing some of the homeowner's finer wines. Though no particular space was made within the wine racking area, the design of this modern custom wine cellar was pushed back a couple of feet so that wine case storage could be an option between the glass front and the custom racking. Additionally, the clean feel goes even further upon looking for the entrance into this wine cellar. The flat panel on the furthest left side opens slowly and almost magically when pushed in slightly. A great, modern touch! A gorgeous, modern condo such as this is just begging to have a custom wine cellar. This space, with big help from this contemporary wine room, screams luxury upon entering. This trendy wine cellar is sleek with black wine racking, matching the black coated stainless steel frames in the glass front. Poplar wood was utilized for these wine racks, only to be finished with a modern / contemporary touch of staining them completely midnight black. This wine room screams luxury with its clean lines and hybrid style utilizing metal, glass and wood in varying colors and styles. Designed , built, and installed by Vintage Cellars, this wine cellar keeps your interest with many styles of display and storage. Along the top, individual bottle storage is perfect for those longer termed holdings. Directly below showcases two tiered coved trays, perfect for putting those prized bottles front and center. Directly underneath is a high reveal display row, keeping bottles angled properly to ensure wet corks for graceful aging. One level lower yet again leaves space for original wood cases. The jet black wine racking contrasts beautifully against the sprawling natural wood flooring. Space was left inside this mid-sized wine vault / wine room / wine cellar to make room for a entertaining table - perfect for opening and decanting your favorite bottles with friends. Even with the comfortable spaciousness designed into this wine cellar, it still holds 800+ bottles easily. Vintage Cellars worked with Noe Design Co on this project. They did a fantastic job with the custom stainless steel framing, door, and glasswork.. A beautiful consistency was kept with the dark metal and wine racks. The combination of white and grey marble in the home bar / custom bar, the utilization of mirrors, subdued grey wall coverings, and sleek black furniture, metal, and wood all showcase elegance at its finest.
