Our clients lived in a wonderful home they designed and built which they referred to as their dream home until this property they admired for many years became available. Its location on a point with spectacular ocean views made it impossible to resist. This 40-year-old home was state of the art for its time. It was perfectly sited but needed to be renovated to accommodate their lifestyle and make use of current materials. Thus began the 3-year journey. They decided to capture one of the most exquisite views of Boston’s North Shore and do a full renovation inside and out. This project was a complete gut renovation with the addition of a guest suite above the garage and a new front entry.

At Boston St. our customer contacted us after settling on a Canton waterfront home with great views, but in desperate need of a renovation. We were hired to design and renovate her 6 story split level, with the addition of a 7th level loft. The original builder designed the layout with a mechanical space in the middle of the floor-plan. This made it challenging, but not impossible, to achieve the main level open concept our customer dreamed of. Our customer had a clear vision of how she wanted the home to look, feel, and function. Through careful planning we developed a space consistent with this vision from top to bottom.

Before Master Closet was a mess. Client couldn't put together her outfits in the morning, cause she couldn't see what clothes she had to co-ordinate. So it took her a lot longer to dress in the morning. On the door was a contraption, with wooden spokes, where client hung her slacks. The one wooden rod was collapsing and sagging and client has no shelves to put her folded clothes and mostly her shoes that basically were piled up on top of each other, on the closet floor! It was impossible to organize!

In the living room, Brueton chairs from E.G. Cody with Bergamo's woven-silk inserts from Donghia surround the sunken bar. An untitled oil on canvas by T.W., Curtis hangs on the wall above. In the adjacent dining room, a contemporary "Sputnik" light fixture from Eurofase illuminates a grouping of authentically licensed Frank Lloyd Wright furnishings from Copeland Furniture.

This bed was overrun with mugwort which is almost impossible to eliminate. Three different climbing rose cultivars were planted against some decorative trellises. The client liked roses. Some 'summer beauty' allium and short perennial grasses were added in the foreground.

Most downtown city backyards are "petite" to say the least! However, nothing is impossible! These urbanites wanted to ensure that this small footprint was utilized to its best potential while adding the joy of water. This particular home is a semi-detached with a back patio and walkway to their private garage. This year round concrete spa is a wonderful place to enjoy in all seasons! It can be kept at pool temperatures for summer enjoyment or turned up to enjoy as a spa throughout the seasons. An autocover (as pictured) helps to keep the spa clean as well as reducing temperature loss. The wood decking and the beautiful coping surround allow for lots of extra seating when needed. Clent expressed a desire to use their outdoor fireplace year round-impossible in our climate. Instead we illuminated the fireplace in a way that brought them closer to the warmth of this outdoor experience, even while inside during winter
