Perched above Puget Sound, this new Scandinavian farmhouse features crossed gable ends, traditional falun red stain, white trim, covered porches & shed dormers. A workshop & garage behind are connected to the back porch by a covered breezeway. Traditional Scandinavian built-in beds allow upstairs rooms to do double duty as both offices & guest rooms. A cook's kitchen in burgeoning with hanging pots & pans, generous pantries, wrap-around display shelves & jam-packed cookbook shelves. Shallow shelves with traditional French doors in the back hall/laundry room allow complete visual access to all things cookery. This retired couple enjoys a busy & active full life in their full-time home by the sea.

This cabinet was bursting with unorganized bags, boxes, and jars, making it nearly impossible to find what you needed. With no structure, items were constantly forgotten or wasted in the clutter. It was time for a pantry overhaul!

This transitional primary suite remodel is simply breathtaking. It is all but impossible to choose the best part of this dreamy primary space. Neutral colors in the bedroom create a tranquil escape from the world. One of the main goals of this remodel was to maximize the space of the primary closet. From tiny and cramped to large and spacious, it is now simple, functional, and sophisticated. Every item has a place or drawer to keep a clean and minimal aesthetic.
The primary bathroom builds on the neutral color palette of the bedroom and closet with a soothing ambiance. The JRP team used crisp white, soft cream, and cloudy gray to create a bathroom that is clean and calm. To avoid creating a look that falls flat, these hues were layered throughout the room through the flooring, vanity, shower curtain, and accent pieces.
Stylish details include wood grain porcelain tiles, crystal chandelier lighting, and a freestanding soaking tub. Vadara quartz countertops flow throughout, complimenting the pure white cabinets and illuminating the space. This spacious transitional primary suite offers plenty of functional yet elegant features to help prepare for every occasion. The goal was to ensure that each day begins and ends in a tranquil space.

Our clients lived in a wonderful home they designed and built which they referred to as their dream home until this property they admired for many years became available. Its location on a point with spectacular ocean views made it impossible to resist. This 40-year-old home was state of the art for its time. It was perfectly sited but needed to be renovated to accommodate their lifestyle and make use of current materials. Thus began the 3-year journey. They decided to capture one of the most exquisite views of Boston’s North Shore and do a full renovation inside and out. This project was a complete gut renovation with the addition of a guest suite above the garage and a new front entry.

When these customers reached out to us, they needed a respite from the brutal sun that dominated their existing backyard space. The pressure treated wooden deck they had was impossible to enjoy during certain parts of the day which kept them inside even during the outdoor living season.
Archadeck put together a plan and new outdoor living space combination design that provides the shade and solace they need on those hot Hoover afternoons!
By removing the existing wood deck, we were able to start from scratch creating a new deck and porch combination! This new versatile space has more room, plenty of shade and even protection from wet weather. This new area opens the door to all sorts of new outdoor living and entertaining possibilities.

Wide shot of motorized plantation shutters over vanity and soaking tub for privacy and light control in a hard-to-reach bathroom window.
This custom home in The Peninsula community of Cornelius, NC features a full-home installation of motorized plantation shutters designed for both style and function.
Many of the windows in the home were oversized, located at significant heights, and difficult or impossible to reach manually. Motorization was the ideal solution, allowing the homeowner to control light and privacy throughout the home with ease while maintaining a clean, cohesive design aesthetic.
The shutters were custom-fitted to each opening, enhancing the architectural lines of the home while providing durability, energy efficiency, and precise light control in every room. This project highlights how motorized window treatments can solve accessibility challenges in high-end custom homes without compromising design.

The defining move in this remodel was closing off an existing doorway that opened from a hallway directly into the kitchen. That single change unlocked one continuous run of cabinetry along the full perimeter wall, something the previous layout made impossible. The sink and dishwasher were relocated to a new island, which also houses an under-counter ice maker and provides seating at its capped ends. A pot filler was added above the range, and a dedicated appliance garage was framed behind shiplap panels on one end of the kitchen.
The original ceiling beams were preserved and re-stained in Minwax Espresso to match the stain-grade island. Shiplap paneling runs the upper wall as a backsplash across the perimeter, stepping aside only at the range, where Tuscan Dream quartz rises to meet the custom vent hood shell. The island is topped in Ethereal Amber quartz with a 2.5" mitered edge. Perimeter counters and the appliance garage are leathered Vincent Black granite. The cabinetry throughout is painted inset, flat panel with profile, in Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter. Wave glass fronts the upper cabinets flanking the range. Champagne bronze runs consistently through the hardware, faucet, pot filler, and air switch.
The flooring in the kitchen and breakfast room was replaced to match the existing wood plank porcelain tile in the adjoining spaces, keeping the transition seamless.

This 1952 Huntington Woods bungalow once had a peninsula jutting into the space, cutting off the flow and making entertaining nearly impossible. The homeowners love to cook and gather with friends, so creating a space that felt connected and welcoming was key. By removing the peninsula and adding a run of shallow pantries opposite the cooktop, the new layout feels more open while also adding valuable storage. The countertop now wraps the corner into a built-in banquette where the couple can sit with guests just off the kitchen, keeping everyone part of the conversation. The cabinetry is designed for real, everyday cooking, with thoughtful details like angled utensil dividers, pegs for dishes and pans, a spice pullout, and tray dividers above the oven. Panel-ready appliances keep the space streamlined, allowing the materials to take center stage. The combination of moody blue base cabinets, white oak uppers, and brushed pewters hardware gives the kitchen a grounded, confident feel that fits the home’s character and the way the couple loves to live. A light, airy, and serene Primary Bedroom retreat. Transformed during the COVID lockdown, the client desired a personal retreat that felt exotic when travel was impossible. Large-scale travel images set the tone for the layers of texture and color in this Primary Bedroom space.

This dining and kitchen space in a wabi-sabi lakeside retreat designed by PKA Architecture and Yond Interiors is grounded by antique elm flooring, with antique elm ceiling paneling and box beams carrying the same warm tone overhead. A long dining table with leather and rush-seat chairs sits beneath layered pendant lighting, while a wood-toned kitchen with open shelving and a wood bench divider with black steel columns continue the home's natural, restrained palette. French doors open to a patio and wooded view beyond.
Our antique elm flooring, ceiling paneling, and box beams are milled from barn timbers dating from 1820 to 1880, carrying unique marks such as wormholes, peg holes, and mortise pockets left behind by centuries old woodworking. Because widespread Dutch Elm Disease in the 1970s made new elm nearly impossible to find, reclaimed elm remains one of the only ways to bring its warm, inviting tones into a home. The natural hues of reclaimed elm are bright and comforting, showing tans, light browns, and a subtle tinge of red that gives the wood an almost iridescent shimmer, embodying the wabi-sabi appreciation for natural imperfection and the passage of time.
Whether you are a homebuilder, a home remodeling contractor, a homeowner, or a designer planning a dining space like this, Manomin Resawn Timbers has the antique elm flooring, paneling, and box beams to bring warmth and character to your home. Willie & Leslie of Barrington Hills loved the location of their home. Its breathtaking views overlooked a wooded backyard and a captivating lake. They didn’t want to move, but they needed more space. But the house was missing that big family room where everyone could gather, relax and converse, and the house was completely cut off visually from the beautiful outdoor view right outside!
They knew what they wanted meant building an addition to their home. They began searching the internet and came across Advance Design Studio, and after browsing through project after project and reading one outstanding client review after another, they were sold on Advance Design. Additionally, they loved Advance Design’s “Common Sense Remodeling” process and felt confident that it would allow the Design/Build company to easily coordinate the multiple projects they wanted to complete all at one time. Willie and Leslie immediately set up a meeting with Owner Todd Jurs and Project Designer Claudia Pop. When the meeting ended, they were sure that Advance Design were the right people and the right approach for their project.
"Establishing a direction and a budget is always key in project of this size," Todd said. "This house was screaming for a family room and it didn't have one. Ultimately, it's about working together towards the same goal of a beautiful functional addition."
The project consisted of a significant family room addition with an extraordinary vaulted ceiling and floor to ceiling fireplace, a guest suite renovation with a luxury bath, a garage addition, and an adjoining outdoor patio renovation complete with a fantastic built in grilling station. The main goal was to add comfort and space to the existing home that would last their lifetime, and finally allow them to capture the amazing view of the backyard and lake that they never could really enjoy previously.
Willie, Leslie and Claudia paid special attention to designing the space to make sure that the footprint of the room did not interfere with the views. Floor to ceiling Pella windows were incorporated into a spectacular window wall to provide plenty of natural light.
Vaulted ceilings gave the room a bigger feel and the stunning floor to ceiling masonry fireplace was designed giving the room a rustic, comfortable feel of a Colorado Lodge. Barnwood doors and exposed wooden beams accentuate the crackling fireplace and family gathering space. An oversized statement chandelier bathes the space in soft light once the sun sets and compliments the exposed wood and fireplace perfectly.
“It simple elegant and beautiful,” Designer Claudia Pop said. “It is a great family room that captures the views perfectly. They love the fireplace, the barndoors and the openness of the space we designed for the whole family now to enjoy.”
And when warm weather beckons, the outdoor patio is a terrific place to spend an evening. The family now enjoys fall nights in front of their outdoor fireplace overlooking the quiet lake. Dekton Trillium Quartz counters tops adorn an amazing grilling bar. Nearly indestructible, they are the only manufactured stone product designed exclusively to withstand high heat in summer and extreme cold temperatures in winter.
The guest bath renovation makes Willie and Leslie’s friends and family feel like they are staying at a 5-star hotel. Carlisle colored Maple cabinets from Medallion make a roomy dual vanity more than adequate with plenty of space to get ready for the day after a peaceful night’s sleep. Cambria Quartz countertops are durable and elegant, while contrasting the neutral cabinets flawlessly. Heated flooring from Warmly Yours is the cherry on top for this cozy guest bath.
All the projects turned out better than they even imagined. Willie and Leslie now have a spacious family room with even better views of the lake and woods, a much larger garage, a fantastic relaxing outdoor patio, and a guest bath that makes it almost impossible to get the guest to leave after their stay.

Did you know that October 7th is Bathtub Day? In a world where it’s nearly impossible to find time to relax, today is all about just that. What better way to relax than in a luxurious, calming bath like this?

Even NFL players should have grab bars in the shower, and this one is no exception. Anyone who slips will grab the first thing they can. Even our towel bars serve as grab bars. All showers are curbless unless, as in this case, it's a loft, so it was impossible to recess the floor.
