Pineapple House helped build and decorate this fabulous Atlanta River Club home in less than a year. It won the GOLD for Design Excellence by ASID and the project was named BEST of SHOW.

A young family moving from NYC tackled a makeover of their young colonial revival home to make it feel more personal. The kitchen area was quite spacious but needed a facelift and a banquette for breakfast. Painted cabinetry matched to Benjamin Moore’s Light Pewter is balanced by Benjamin Moore Ocean Floor on the island. Mixed metals on the lighting by Allied Maker, faucets and hardware and custom tile by Pratt and Larson make the space feel organic and personal. Photos Adam Macchia. The enlarged Kitchen is at the left, with plenty of concealed storage and seating at the island. A fireplace provides the Kitchen and adjacent open living spaces with a warm glow. The new entry door at the right brings in natural light. Warm neutral tones throughout (cabinetry, counters, full backsplash, flooring) create an inviting space.

Large traditional exterior home idea in New York

Down-to-studs remodel and second floor addition. The original house was a simple plain ranch house with a layout that didn’t function well for the family. We changed the house to a contemporary Mediterranean with an eclectic mix of details. Space was limited by City Planning requirements so an important aspect of the design was to optimize every bit of space, both inside and outside. The living space extends out to functional places in the back and front yards: a private shaded back yard and a sunny seating area in the front yard off the kitchen where neighbors can easily mingle with the family. A Japanese bath off the master bedroom upstairs overlooks a private roof deck which is screened from neighbors’ views by a trellis with plants growing from planter boxes and with lanterns hanging from a trellis above.
