Staircase - mid-sized contemporary u-shaped staircase idea in Atlanta

Featured on Pete Nelson's Treehouse Masters, Season 3: Episode 3, "Bionic Tree House." http://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/treehouse-masters/ Architectural Elements had the amazing opportunity to help Pete Nelson renovate one of his very first tree house projects. The house's original wooden supports & staircase were old and decayed. Architectural Elements fabricated and installed new, steel support beams that would move and grow with the trees. We also created a segmented staircase with blackened steel railings. Inside the house, we provided a kinetic ladder to access a lofted relaxation space.

Constricted by a structural wall that could not be moved, to widen the door leading into the master bedroom we eked out every inch by removing the hinged door, eliminating the casing, and installing a barn door that slides completely out of the way of the opening. Heavy duty hardware promotes easy motion and minimal force to open and close the door.

Instead of a contemporary glass enclosure, keep you room open and airy by using a silk curtain. It hides the plastic shower curtain behind with a beautiful tassled tie back. Photo: .Lisa Lyttle
