This kitchen was basically built from scratch. We demolished the initial kitchen and built this one from the ground up. Designs were put together, colour scheme and board material chosen and cut off site and then assembled on site along with in built appliances. We used spotlights for adequate yet economical lighting. We wanted to create a compact but comfortable space with adequate storage.

I wanted to capture the back of the island to show a basic application using a 1/4" luan panel and baseboard molding. The installer on the project took the innovative initiative to install power strips along two sides of the island. Most islands only have 1 or 2 outlets usually featured at the ends of the island. In today's day and age, phone and tablet charging, use of multiple appliances, etc can cause a traffic jam of power cords in a very busy space. I absolutely loved this idea and will recommend it to my upcoming clients!

The roof line comes down low on the second floor to reduce the height of the house and create an interesting roof form without losing too much floor space on the second floor. Pushing the shed dormers out flush with exterior walls helps accomplish these goals. This is Phase-1 of a 2 phase project. The future Phase-2 addition will enclose the fireplace with a matching bedroom wing that will complete the symmetry centered on the front porch. The windows on the gable wall will move out to the new gable wall.

This bathroom was basically built from scratch. All the items you see here - ceiling and spot lights, doors, shelving and storage units, towel holders, toilet, shower cubicle, sink unit and adjoining mirror, wall tiles etc. were sourced and installed on site after removal of initial/old components. We used a lot of brown and nudes with white being the predominant colour - since we wanted to bring space into the compact room.
