This nursery makeover was a surprise to the homeowners during a "big reveal". This project began as an online design plan by Sarah Macklem of http://www.theyellowcapecod.com. After an online consultation, Sarah got to work creating a nursery design for Brian and Heidi, inspired by their favorite place to visit…the mountains. The design plan included an inspiration board, true to scale floorplan illustration, product source list, custom paint color recommendations and step-by-step instructions on how to install the design. Instead of delivering the plan to Brian and Heidi to handle the installation, Sarah took this project a step further. To demonstrate how a design plan comes to life, she flew to Denver to install the room, by herself, in just two days. Since Sarah offered to install the new nursery, the clients requested to be completely surprised by the design. They had no idea what the room looked like until the reveal. Our instructions from the client were to "create a fiercely modern, all-white kitchen, but with humanity." Working within a ten by fifteen foot space that was originally dark, cramped and inefficient, we created a new kitchen which is bright, open, and highly efficient for cooking. While no walls were moved, the openings to adjacent spaces were relocated and resized, further expanding the appearance of the space. We did this library and screen room project, designed by Linton Architects in 2017. It features lots of bookshelf space, upper storage, a rolling library ladder and a retractable digital projector screen. Of particular note is the use of the space above the windows to house the screen and main speakers, which is enclosed by lift-up doors that have speaker grille cloth panels. I also made a Walnut library table to store the digital projector under a drop leaf.
