Awarded the 2011 American Institute of Architects Merit Award for Outstanding Residential Design
Designed for a neuro surgeon, an attorney cum yoga instructor and their family, the Cornelio house sits on a narrow corner lot enjoying views of the hills, the city, and the Pacific horizon beyond. Conceived as a collection of light and airy public spaces set above a base of private areas the house is at once protected from the street while remaining open to the views that surround it.
Grounded and transparent the house responds to its site and its surroundings while inwardly reflecting its owners tastes and sensibilities. The Cornelio house is made for this place and this time. You realize as the day ends and the living room softly reflects the sun’s hues of orange and red that here is the only place you need to be.

Ballroom dance studio
Flooring - maple hardwood click lock (Shaw), installed over concrete on a floating subfloor.
Walls - daVinci's Canvas (Ben Moore)
Ceiling - custom painted plastic ceiling skins (available from WishIHadThat.com), slipped over existing acoustic drop panel ceiling tiles.
Wall words hand-crafted using a Cricut and stock craft paper, adhered via glue stick.
Silhouette dancing mural hand-painted from a digital photo using a laptop and projector, a pencil, and black acrylic craft paint. SUPER EASY to do. (Photo taken from my first ballroom dance competition: that's me and my instructor in a cha cha pose.)

Connected by a series of boardwalks and surrounded by a sea of Blue Oat Grass a small deck protected by an existing fence invites one for solitary contemplation.
