SDH Studio - Architecture and Design Location: Golden Beach, Florida, USA Overlooking the canal in Golden Beach 96 GB was designed around a 27 foot triple height space that would be the heart of this home. With an emphasis on the natural scenery, the interior architecture of the house opens up towards the water and fills the space with natural light and greenery.

Looking at this home today, you would never know that the project began as a poorly maintained duplex. Luckily, the homeowners saw past the worn façade and engaged our team to uncover and update the Victorian gem that lay underneath. Taking special care to preserve the historical integrity of the 100-year-old floor plan, we returned the home back to its original glory as a grand, single family home. The project included many renovations, both small and large, including the addition of a a wraparound porch to bring the façade closer to the street, a gable with custom scrollwork to accent the new front door, and a more substantial balustrade. Windows were added to bring in more light and some interior walls were removed to open up the public spaces to accommodate the family’s lifestyle. The "before" of this project was an all-out turquoise, 80's style bathroom that was cramped and needed a lot of help. The client wanted a clean, calming bathroom that made full use of the limited space. The apartment was in a prewar building, so we sought to preserve the building's rich history while creating a sleek and modern design. To open up the space, we switched out an old tub and replaced it with a claw foot tub, then took out the vanity and put in a pedestal sink, making up for the lost storage with a medicine cabinet. Marble subway tiles, brass details, and contrasting black floor tiles add to the industrial charm, creating a chic but clean palette.
