Traditional exterior home idea in Miami

This 1890 rowhouse had been renovated over time, most recently in the 70s. Our clients wanted to renovate every floor. The floors and walls were out of level, and most of the systems were old. We gutted the structure to the studs, leveled and reframed the walls and floors, added insulation and updated the plumbing, electrical and HVAC. Once the structural and systems work was complete, our crew installed a new expanded kitchen, updated all the bathrooms, and updated the basement. Reconfiguring the first floor plan involved taking down the wall between the kitchen and dining room to create one large entertaining space. To bring more natural light and provide sight lines from the front to the back of the rowhouse, we added new windows to the back wall and moved the opening to the other side as a full-light door. Kitchen features include: • Cabinetry that extends to the ceiling to maximize storage • Large island with seating for four • Painting that imitates the pattern of the ceiling we uncovered during the renovation • Buffet cabinetry in the dining room with a built-in wine cooler HDBros

This project involved the design of a new open-air Pool House on grounds of a 1905 carriage house estate. The main house and guesthouse on this property were also extensively renovated as part of the project. The concept for the new Pool House was to incorporate the vocabulary of these existing structures into the form while creating a protected, yet open space with a bright and fresh interior. The Pool house is sited on axis to a new fifty-foot pool and the existing Breakfast Room terrace with views back to the house and the adjacent pastoral fields. The exterior of the pool house is shingled, with bracketed rakes, exposed rafter tails and a cupola. Wood louvered shutters and a custom made removable fabric cover protect the structure during the off season. The interior of the Pool House includes a vaulted sitting area with wide beadboard on the walls and ceiling, shingled half walls and a soapstone wet bar. The bluestone flooring flows in from the pool terrace, blurring the boundaries of interior and exterior space. The bath and changing area have a built in stained bench and a vanity with an integral soapstone sink. An exterior shower enclosure is linked to the form by the bracketed extension of the main roof. A close friend of one of our owners asked for some help, inspiration, and advice in developing an area in the mezzanine level of their commercial office/shop so that they could entertain friends, family, and guests. They wanted a bar area, a poker area, and seating area in a large open lounge space. So although this was not a full-fledged Four Elements project, it involved a Four Elements owner's design ideas and handiwork, a few Four Elements sub-trades, and a lot of personal time to help bring it to fruition. You will recognize similar design themes as used in the Four Elements office like barn-board features, live edge wood counter-tops, and specialty LED lighting seen in many of our projects. And check out the custom poker table and beautiful rope/beam light fixture constructed by our very own Peter Russell. What a beautiful and cozy space!

A kitchen remodel is a project that involves changing the layout, fixtures, and finishes of your kitchen. It can be a small project, such as painting the cabinets and replacing the hardware, or a major project, such as tearing down walls and installing new appliances. Kitchen remodel flooring Install new lighting. Good lighting is essential in a kitchen. You can add task lighting under cabinets and over the sink and ambient lighting in the ceiling. Kitchen remodel lighting Add a backsplash. A backsplash is a decorative tile or panel behind the stove and sink. It can add a touch of personality to your kitchen. Kitchen remodel backsplash A kitchen remodel can be a big investment, but it can also be a very rewarding experience. If you are thinking about remodeling your kitchen, it is important to do your research and plan your project carefully. Here are some additional tips for kitchen remodels: Set a budget and stick to it. Knowing how much you can afford to spend on your remodel before you start is important. Once you have a budget, get quotes from several contractors to ensure you get the best price. Get permits. Some kitchen remodels require permits. Be sure to check with your local building department to see if you need any permits before you start your project. Be patient. Kitchen remodels can take several weeks or even months to complete. The homeowners purchased this midcentury home in the Richmond Beach neighborhood of Shoreline and jumped right into remodeling. The project involved taking the entire main floor down to the studs and opening up the spaces to create a great room.
