Not everyone has the backyard that suits a hardscape patio. Those situations sometimes call for a different approach....especially in this case! We built a second-level deck and pergola for this family outside of Greenfield. Cedar all around! They also wanted to retain their beautiful views. So we used a cable railing system that is safe and effective at preventing falls, but also perfect for maximizing those views. I think it turned out well, don't you? Sun-Dried tomatoes anyone?

This large deck was built in Holmdel, NJ. The flooring is Ipe hardwood. The rail is Azek brand synthetic railing system. The pergola is clear cedar that has been primed and painted. The columns are 10" square Permacast brand. The high underside of the deck is covered with solid Ipe skirting. This blocks the view of the deck under-structure from people enjoying the lower paver patio. Low voltage lights were added to the rail posts, in the pergola and in the stair risers. These lights add a nice ambiance to the deck, as well as safety.

A combination of low maintenance decking and rails were used (Kona TimberTech Rails, AZEK PVC Decking in Mountain Cedar) for a fabulous color combination and uniquely customized deck design. Project by Archadeck of West County and St. Charles County in St. Louis Mo.

We built a new backyard for our customer. Complete with (2) multi level decks, a stamped concrete patio, a retaining wall, with stone pillars. All rails you see are black anodized cables with a composite top cap. All decking is Composite Tiki Torch.

A deck isn’t complete without a safe, stylish railing.
