This project is one of the most extensive TVL scopes to date! This house sits in a phenomenal site location in Golden and features a number of incredible and original architectural details. However, years of shifting had caused massive structural damage to the home on both the main and basement levels, resulting in shifting door frames, split drywall, and sinking floors. These shifts prompted the clients to seek remodeling assistance in the beginning of their renovation adventure. At first, the scope involved a new paint and lighting scheme with a focus on wall repair and structural improvement. However, the scope eventually evolved into a re-design of the entire home. Few spaces in this house were left untouched, with the remodeling scope eventually including the kitchen, living room, pantry, entryway and staircase, master bedroom, master bathroom, full basement, and basement bedrooms and bathrooms. Expanding the scope in this way allowed for a design that is cohesive space to space, and creates an environment that captures the essence of the family's persona at every turn. There are many stunning elements to this renovation, but a few favorites include the insanely gorgeous custom steel elements at the front entry, Tharp custom cabinetry in the kitchen and pantry, and unique stone in just about every room of the house. Our clients for this project are both geologists. This alone opened an entire world of unique interest in material that we have never explored before. From natural quartzite countertops that mimic mountain ranges to silky metallic accent tiles behind the bathtub, this project does not shy away from unique stone finds and accents. Conceptually, the clients' love for stone and natural elements is present just about everywhere: the dining room chandelier conceptually takes the form of stalactite, the island pendants are formed concrete, stacked stone adorns the large back wall of the shower, and a back-lit onyx art piece sits in a dramatic niche at the home's entry. We love the dramatic result of this renovation and are so thrilled that our clients can enjoy a home that truly reflects their passions for years to come!

This project involved the design of a new open-air Pool House on grounds of a 1905 carriage house estate. The main house and guesthouse on this property were also extensively renovated as part of the project. The concept for the new Pool House was to incorporate the vocabulary of these existing structures into the form while creating a protected, yet open space with a bright and fresh interior. The Pool house is sited on axis to a new fifty-foot pool and the existing Breakfast Room terrace with views back to the house and the adjacent pastoral fields. The exterior of the pool house is shingled, with bracketed rakes, exposed rafter tails and a cupola. Wood louvered shutters and a custom made removable fabric cover protect the structure during the off season. The interior of the Pool House includes a vaulted sitting area with wide beadboard on the walls and ceiling, shingled half walls and a soapstone wet bar. The bluestone flooring flows in from the pool terrace, blurring the boundaries of interior and exterior space. The bath and changing area have a built in stained bench and a vanity with an integral soapstone sink. An exterior shower enclosure is linked to the form by the bracketed extension of the main roof. After the devastating Tubbs fire, Craig reimagined this Calistoga property into a wine country retreat for the owners' family as well as corporate/wellness guests. He approached the design by studying the natural elements of the site including trees, views and light, the vernacular design of the area and the clients’ personality. Craig designed a barn and the house – made up of a one-story and a two-story building – connected by a stunning 20-foot steel and glass breezeway. Expansive doors and windows create seamless indoor/outdoor flow and numerous patios and the pool area provide comfortable outdoor spaces. The modern and warm interior is bright, luxurious and comfortable.

This family asked us to build a heavy-duty functioning kitchen and adjoining family room. They wanted a clean-lined traditional white kitchen. Our priority involved form following function as well as sourcing durable materials and finishes. In addition to the cabinets, we custom designed every inch of the kitchen including the wire-brushed oak island, kitchen desk cabinet, tambour-door appliance garages, easily-moveable prep cart, and reclaimed wood/metal table.

This project involved an extensive renovation of the client's exiting free form pool. The renovation involved growing the pool to create a larger deep end, and adding a large Caribbean shelf. The extension had to match and compliment the existing form of the pool and natural rock waterfall. The entire back and side yard were renovated to include an extensive travertine deck, integral color light broom concrete band, new landscaping, an entertainment center with a BBQ, bar, outdoor kitchen, dining area, large overhead shade structure, and outdoor fireplace.

This smart kitchen renovation in Silver Spring, Maryland, involved removing three walls and a centrally located powder room and a closet. The powder room was relocated into the original closet area, and the patio door moved nearby. The main window was enlarged to create an anchor and focal point for the new kitchen as well as to enhance the view onto the lovely backyard. An angled island keeps the room feeling spacious and open, and a corner pantry was designed so as not to lose precious storage space.

Our client’s stunning modern home is large, with a complex floor plan, involving several levels of entrances and exits, requiring a sprawling circulation plan of terraces, walks and staircases. We installed seven staircases and thousands of square feet of surfaces, as well as a highly involved draining system, with our goal being to tie everything together. We call this project “Multi-Level Magic” for obvious reasons: the result is gorgeous. The staircases all had unique riser heights and tread depths with fine tuning and design revisions handled by our landscape architects. The pavers made of imported travertine - a form of limestone deposited by mineral hot springs - had to be installed on a precise grid, involving constant monitoring of joint placement, as the same paving material and pattern existed inside the home and, with large picture windows, the joint placement had to flow seamlessly inside to outside. Our work was finished just in time for a huge moving-in party. This project was one of the most challenging installations our team had ever been involved with, and the client was very pleased in the end.
