Located in a wooded setting which backs up to a golf course, The Woods is a vacation condo community in Canadian Lakes, Michigan. The owners asked us to create a comfortable modern design that would appeal to golfers and also families visiting relatives in the area. This complete renovation brought the design from 80's basic to rustic transitional. Colors and design elements echo the natural area surrounding the property. SKP Design was involved in multiple aspects of this project. Located in a wooded setting which backs up to a golf course, The Woods is a vacation condo community in Canadian Lakes, Michigan. The owners asked us to create a comfortable modern design that would appeal to golfers and also families visiting relatives in the area. This complete renovation brought the design from 80's basic to rustic transitional. Colors and design elements echo the natural area surrounding the property. SKP Design was involved in multiple aspects of this project. Our services included: space planning for kitchen and both bathrooms selecting finishes for walls, floors, trim, cabinets and countertops reviewing construction details and electrical plans specification of plumbing fixtures, appliances and accent lighting furniture layout, specification and purchasing fireplace design and stone selection reviewing branding and signage ideas In the great room, wrought iron accents are featured in a new staircase handrail system. Other metal accents are found in the new chandelier, barstools and the legs of the live edge coffee table. An open area under the staircase was enclosed with recessed shelving which gives a focal point to the dinette area. Recessed built-in cabinets near the fireplace store TV technology and accessories. The original tiled hearth was replaced by poured concrete with stone accents. A queen sleeper sofa from Edgecomb provides additional sleeping. Fabrics and upholstery throughout the condo were selected for durability and cleanability. Basic white laminate kitchen cabinets were replaced with beautiful dark stained wood. The Saint Albert The Great, Newman Center project is a multiple phased project that includes the development of a new church and teaching facility. The first phase of the project involved the demolition of housing adjacent to the existing facility. A new chuch is intended to be built on this site. The church design includes a large seating area for visitors with vaulted ceilings and diffused day-lighting. Additional spaces included within the church design are: an entrance lobby with a gift shop and coffee shop, an exterior yard/ colombarium, a marian, a sacrisity, a multi-purpose room, an audio room and a reconciliation room. The overall design intent of the project was to create a modern church facility with traditional aspects that relate to the established image of the Saint Albert the Great Church and the missionary architectural style of the region. The second phase of the project includes the construction of “Ministry” for the campus. This facility houses a mult-purpose teaching space as well as a recreational area for youth. Additionally, the new facility aims to distribute food to the needy through a bodega and a small kitchen. This phase of the project involves some demolition and renovations to the existing Newman Center facility. The final phase of the project includes the construction of the Education Building for the campus. This facility is equipped with multiple teaching and office spaces for the Church’s youth education programs. The design intent for this facility was to appeal to the youth through the use of modern and inviting design elements.

This immersive water feature experience is like nothing we’ve ever seen or lit before! This large water feature circumstance is at least 40 feet wide with multiple waterfalls and viewing vignettes. Each sitting area provides a different experience. Some areas are purposefully darker and more intimate than others. You can walk from the patio area to the firepit, situated in the back corner. Then from the sitting area and back to the patio all while enjoying this beautiful experience. Never fearing that you'll fall in! During their evening consultation, the homeowners were greatly involved. They even chose specific fixtures. With our design guidance, we included various color tones for high impact and minimal light glare. We used multiple uplights, path lights and submersible lights in a mixture of 2700 K (Kelvin). We also used the Sunset tone in the water feature to create a waterscape that was relaxing. That's the beauty of hiring Northwest Outdoor Lighting. You can choose how involved you want to be. The extensive backyard lawn and trees were also lit with flush in-grade well lights. This makes mowing and lawn care so much easier. Highlighting the tall evergreens creates a safe environment for when the puppies need to go out at night. No scary animals are lurking in dark corners now. Path lights have been added to all the walkways. After having the water feature unlit for years, the water feature has now become the homeowner’s pride and joy!
