This project won in the 2013 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh Housing Excellence Award for Best Urban Renewal Renovation Project. The entry hall is dominated and defined by the native stone wall that started outside in the courtyard. We held the top of the wall down from the ceiling not only to allow light penetration into the space, but also to let the ceiling really float above and be a key player.

Well-traveled. Relaxed. Timeless.
Our well-traveled clients were soon-to-be empty nesters when they approached us for help reimagining their Presidio Heights home. The expansive Spanish-Revival residence originally constructed in 1908 had been substantially renovated 8 year prior, but needed some adaptations to better suit the needs of a family with three college-bound teens. We evolved the space to be a bright, relaxed reflection of the family’s time together, revising the function and layout of the ground-floor rooms and filling them with casual, comfortable furnishings and artifacts collected abroad.
One of the key changes we made to the space plan was to eliminate the formal dining room and transform an area off the kitchen into a casual gathering spot for our clients and their children. The expandable table and coffee/wine bar means the room can handle large dinner parties and small study sessions with similar ease. The family room was relocated from a lower level to be more central part of the main floor, encouraging more quality family time, and freeing up space for a spacious home gym.
In the living room, lounge-worthy upholstery grounds the space, encouraging a relaxed and effortless West Coast vibe. Exposed wood beams recall the original Spanish-influence, but feel updated and fresh in a light wood stain. Throughout the entry and main floor, found artifacts punctate the softer textures — ceramics from New Mexico, religious sculpture from Asia and a quirky wall-mounted phone that belonged to our client’s grandmother.

Using our Millson WireFrame and Rack Frame infrastructure, AVDG provided an efficient and clean mechanical room where core AV components could be neatly stored and managed. Efficiency was a key player here, as AVDG built and tested the system in our New Hampshire Production Center, prior to delivering it to the residence as a fully built, plug-and-play AV rack.

Modern and classic elements combine in this backyard for a harmonious effect! Structure, architecture and lines were the key players in this design while reflecting and enhancing the mountain views beyond. Poured in place concrete, metal and desert plants make up the materials palette.

With a clear view of the fountain in front and a fireplace to complete the cozy picture, this elegant room features control of lighting, HVAC, shades and audio from a wireless Isys i/O TPMC-10 tablet or from a wall- mounted designer key-pad that blends nicely with the room’s tasteful décor. The flexibility of Total Home Technology allows the fountain and player piano to be integrated into the control system.

This Windermere home got the full treatment! Almost every room in the house was designed to the liking of our NFL player's style and inspiration. With an emphasis on a coastal feel we were able to transform these massive rooms into warm and inviting spaces.
