Perched above the scenic apple orchards of South Glastonbury, Connecticut, this impressive Kalamazoo outdoor kitchen is an entertainers dream. The key design goals were to create a resort-inspired space that capitalized on the properties stunning views, and allowed the homeowners to entertain outdoors in comfort and style. The outdoor kitchen was created to function fully independently of the indoor kitchen, complete with a Kalamazoo Outdoor Dishwasher, ample weather-tight cabinetry, and powerful refrigeration units for both food and beverages. The K750HB Hybrid Fire Grill, built-in Cooktop Cabinet, and countertop Artisan Fire Pizza Oven were all selected for their unrivaled cooking performance and versatility. No detail was spared in this thoughtfully planned out space; the green Unicom Quartzite floor tiles were imported from Italy, and the countertops are made from lapis beige granite. The surrounding space includes an outdoor dining room, wood burning fireplace, swimming pool and a multi-purpose sports court.

Sweet little country cottage, this home was built in the 1930's in Dallas, Texas. The master bathroom shown in the before photo was extremely small, unappealing, and did not utilize the best space. With the K. Rue new design, a larger shower was created and a major update to the cabinetry was involved. Notice the shower controls are placed on the end opposite of the showerhead to allow enough space for the water to heat up without soaking the user. Trying to eliminate constant distractions and interruptions, white and gray were the key colors in the bathroom to make a fluid statement. The small Carrara marble mosaic used on the floor was carried into the shower floor for a consistent rhythm. For an emphasized country cottage look, these 4x10 gray subway ceramic tiles add a slight rough and handmade look to the walls with an intentionally thick grout line. The cabinetry was purchased as one unit to appear as a furniture piece with built-in lavatories and faucets. Gray walls add a great accent to the almost all-white bathroom for depth and drama.
Our client living in Dallas TX was referred to the K. Rue team through another client. We LOVE referrals and would be glad to help your friends or family with their design needs.

A cohesive and color forward great room is at once comfortable and exciting Symmetry is achieved by facing sofas and bookshelves to keep the room calm. MIdcentury and art deco live together quite comfortably in this room with a midcentury Sarineen round table and French chairs covered in a mid century Jonathan Adler fabric. Art deco mirrored coffee table and blue and emerald green serve to bring in the art deco side.

Holistic Home Renovation -Series 7: "The Porch"
(See 2-24 Post for full description)
Can you feel the breeze? This bright and airy porch lets summer's breezes blow through, but also has glass panes to fend off fall's chills. 4 large skylights brighten up the porch as well as the main house beyond. Colorful blue metal roofing provides shelter from the elements. Stained fir gives the ceiling a friendly feel above the cool porcelain tile flooring. Three fans help circulate the air during MD's "dog days" of summer. Speaking of dogs..., the owners lovable dogs have two pet doors allowing them to freely frolic about!
