This white and airy shore house kitchen features Danby marble countertops with an ogee edge treatment. The backsplash tile is a ceramic white arabesque which pairs beautifully in this space. The hardwood floors add some warmth and texture.

Our clients wanted to modernize their 1980's home, focusing on reimagining the main floor. We used warm palettes, natural elements, and clean lines while maximizing natural light and preserving key architectural features to create a welcoming, functional space. We completely reimagined the kitchen to enhance flow and gain additional cabinet space. Features include a center island with bar stools that also doubles as a casual dining area, a functional layout, and ample storage.

Sleek, flat paneled cabinets, new LED lighting and glossy white glass appliances transformed the dated kitchen into a more contemporary expression still fitting the home’s 80’s modern architectural style. The light filled space has large windows and four doors, but works well in the strategically configured floor plan. Generous wall trim, exquisite light fixtures and modern stools create a warm ambiance. In the words of the homeowner, “it is beyond our dreams”.

Out with the oak, and in with the stately and calming tones in this open plan kitchen. Moonstone Grey by DuraSupreme offers a subtle color tone that compliments the tones of the travertine tile floor. Calacutta Gold countertops bring in subtle warm tones while marrying the grey in the marble printed tile backsplash accent mosaic in a field of simple 3x12 subway tile. High end Wolf appliances give the space a luxe feel with modern appliance updates. Glass cabinets and a large single level island gives the feeling of light and airiness to the space.

Off-white Decora maple cabinets, an Ethan Allen chandelier and Seapearl quartzite grey and green countertops transformed an outdated kitchen into a peaceful sanctuary. A high gloss ceramic handmade tile, Light Ocean from Quemere International, reflects light from the kitchen's large window. Stamped concrete island cabinets provide an enchanting color contrast to the Chantille cabinets. Amish wood stools offer understated seating. Top Knobs trunk pulls in polished nickel contribute to this kitchen’s high class. The existing kitchen floor plan in this 20-year-old Fairfax Station did not require enlarging. The homeowners upgraded to a double oven and converted from electric to gas. In the breakfast room, a Hinkley chandelier above a Lee Industries table accommodates eight, with an open view of an updated fireplace. After removing the wall between living and breakfast rooms, in-house lead carpenter Bruce designed and built the classic columns on either side of the arch between the rooms. The rooms are painted in Benjamin Moore Titanium, and the wet bar boasts an Arabesque Carrara marble backsplash. Photographer Greg Hadley
