Fitting the dining room proved to be a difficult part of the puzzle. It is screened from the kitchen by a wall of cabinets with a pass-through. However, the back wall had two windows out of place. These were screened by a translucent shade and artwork was suspended in front to provide an ethereal soft day-lit atmosphere. Storage cupboards float in the adjacent corners and additional chairs are placed on a platform under the cabinets. The furnishings are a mixture of antique French pieces, modern masters including architects Le Corbusier, Gio Ponti and Mies van der Rohe, and contemporary designers like Piero Lissoni, Ingo Maurer and Antonio Citterio.

Designed and constructed by Los Angeles architect, John Southern and his firm Urban Operations, the Slice and Fold House is a contemporary hillside home in the cosmopolitan neighborhood of Highland Park. Nestling into its steep hillside site, the house steps gracefully up the sloping topography, and provides outdoor space for every room without additional sitework. The first floor is conceived as an open plan, and features strategically located light-wells that flood the home with sunlight from above. On the second floor, each bedroom has access to outdoor space, decks and an at-grade patio, which opens onto a landscaped backyard. The home also features a roof deck inspired by Le Corbusier’s early villas, and where one can see Griffith Park and the San Gabriel Mountains in the distance.

Inspiration for a large contemporary guest ceramic tile bedroom remodel in Phoenix with beige walls and no fireplace

The Le Corbusier armchair is covered in Tan Leather, and features externalized tubular steel frame with padded seats. The cushions are made of multi-density foam to provide firm support and plush comfort. The sturdy frame is made of ultra-premium stainless steel and polished to a mirror finish. Living room - mid-century modern living room idea in Seattle

Custom furniture design, space plan, artwork and decor placement. Custom designed silk throw pillows, Le Corbusier coffee table and Alberto Giacometti sculpture.

This hillside residence integrates innovative design with sustainable, energy efficient construction methods. The home is clad with a natural patina steel rain screen that is firewise for the WUI foothills location as well as aesthetically unique. The butterfly roof design is a homage to Le Corbusier and serves a dual-purpose in allowing expansive views to the East through four 10’6” x 6’ picture windows as well as keeping the architecture of the home feel modest in size.
