Inspiration for a contemporary one-story exterior home remodel in Portland

Designer: Barbara Stowe, Allied ASID The clients were looking for a complete update of their original 1960's kitchen. They requested a clean and fresh look that would withstand the test of time. Although the footprint remained the same, eliminating soffits allowed for full height cabinets and made the space look larger. Brookhaven by Wood-Mode cabinetry, a narrow pull-out pantry cabinet and custom built-in plate rack provide plenty of storage and the dual-fuel Wolf range and Sub-Zero refrigerator are welcome upgrades. Classic colors of gray and yellow are repeated in the handmade ceramic tile back splash, the granite counter tops, porcelain plank tile flooring, decorative valance and the numerous fabrics. Antique chairs upholstered with new fabrics and a farmhouse table made from old doors add warmth, while polished nickel hardware and Schonbek crystal pendants add a bit of bling. The result is a kitchen that is wonderful to cook in as well as being a lovely gathering place for family and friends.

The entryway wall and custom wine cellar door CA (Herculite style) were crafted from glass. This gave the otherwise traditional wine cellar a distinctly contemporary look. As you can see, the glass wall and entryway wall make for excellent wine showcasing. The glass panels were insulated and equipped with weather stripping to help stabilize the conditions in the wine cellar. A floating bench suspends diners in the dining room. Layers of subtle luxury swath this penthouse including silk rugs, wood veneer wall covering, and silk velvet fabrics. We often come across clients looking for small space ideas. Our first recommendation is always to go bright. The depth of our glaze color adds visual interest and a bold color choice helps make a space appear larger. Posh and polished (just like the homeowner) this stunning sapphire blue bathroom will have you in awe. The owner of this amazing lake house is our friend Rachel Shingleton of Pencil Shavings Studio. Her refined design-eye coupled with our bright and bold tile transformed this small bathroom into the perfect master bath. And could you believe it? This is a super simple project! Read on to learn more about this design and how to achieve the look yourself. Another great way to open up a small bathroom is by using smaller tile! Our regular Hexagons are the great example of this - approximately 2"x2" their small size maximizes the rest of the room, and their classic shape is perfect for a bathroom floor.
